Chapter 11 - Chapter 11: A Whole New World

The voice in his head confirmed his kill, and Zero noticed that it used Enlightened instead of mundane this time. He was also pleased to hear he got another item, or rather thing, from this kill. After peering at the arm that got hit, he was happy to see that it was barely bleeding. Although it did feel very sore and would definitely leave a bruise.

He also quickly checked out the body of the Harvest Critter. It looked rather odd to see a moving tree stump.

'Is it normal for trees to move? I feel like it's not.'

Before he checked the glyphs, he made sure to scan his surroundings.

Currently, he was facing a forest with surprisingly large trees, though they were spaced out enough so a permanent shadow was not cast below them. Their leaves were bright green. The grass was inconsistent, sometimes rather short and other times tall, with various other plants in it. When Zero turned around, he was met with an odd sight.

What he had thought previously to be a cliff did not lead to ground below. Nor did it lead to some rocky cave system. Rather, it led back to the sky… kind of.

When Zero walked a bit closer and was able to peer at the cliff's edge, he found himself looking down at a void of nothingness. It was as if the sky had enveloped a 360 all around him. When he looked straight, he understood what Azarax meant by Islands.

All around him were various floating Islands, just existing in a void. Below each island was a suitable amount of rock, which was sensible for how large of an island it was holding up. How the islands stayed floating in the void, Zero did not know.

After admiring the view for a bit, Zero opened the glyphs.

At first glance, he noticed a variety of changes. Nothing was blanked out anymore, and there were a couple of new things. Zero finished his scan and then looked through all the specifics.

{

[Human] (Seeker)

(A highly intelligent class with few other notable qualities. They have great potential)

}

'Should I be disappointed, few notable qualities?'

{

[Origin of Blood](Seeker)

(You inherit the blood of the Forsaken Deity of Life and are a creature of its creation. Thus, your blood is Abyssal, and your being is Forsaken. Your instinct is a weak remnant from that Forsaken Deity. The instinct of your body is therefore Forsaken. A sense of adventure exists within you until you are whole. Seek out the remaining blood to become complete once again)

}

Zero did not know what a Deity exactly meant, so he ignored it for the moment. He was not sure what to think of being called Forsaken. The word did not exactly have a positive connotation. He did not even bother thinking about what blood he had to seek out.

As for his heightened instinct when he first encountered the Harvest Critter, it was now explained.

He noticed his new curse, but focusing on it yielded no results, so it was a mystery for now.

[Harvest Talisman]

(Description)

(The people of a town once gave their spoils of harvests to a dreadful beast in exchange for their lives. Unbeknownst to them, the beast had been gravely wounded, and any one of them could have finished it off. But they did not, and their offerings slowly nursed it back to health. The town's next harvest was not as bountiful as the last, and so the beast devoured them all.)

(Attributes/Skills)

Nursing Spoils: The boon enhances the wearer's recovery speed.

Zero looked at the cut on his arm and thoughtfully moved the boon into the equipped section. Though subtle, he instantly felt a difference. It was as if a tinge of euphoria had spilled into his spirit. It felt quite nice, and his arm stopped bleeding, which was nice as well.

Zero mostly glossed over the description. He found it quite concerning, just not concerning of him at the moment.

Lastly, Zero looked at the spirit level and spirit crystals. Both of which read 0. He stared intently at them for a second, expecting an explanation or something to pop up, but nothing did. So he dismissed the glyphs and thought of what to do.

First, he moved away from a cliff. He thought of moving into the shade of a tree, but the temperature felt nice and cool. Perhaps it was the slight breeze that he felt as well.

Zero thought of what to do. There were many various things he could do at the moment, but none of them felt satisfactory to him. He could call for the wolf, but that could alert another beast. He could look for Roma, but he was not welcome there. He would wander off and find another village, but he might wander and find nothing. Unfortunately, most of his options would lead to death. At least he had options, though. In the colesuim, the only option was to fight.

Zero pondered for a bit more, but found himself rather thirsty after a little bit. So he decided he would wander around and look for water.

'I probably should not wander too far.'

Zero walked into the forest with caution. He still had his blade summoned in case he would need it.

As he wandered deeper into the forest, he started to notice smaller signs of life here and there. An occasional bug would crawl through some shorter grass and become visible. Or a gnat would buzz into his ear. He even saw a few bright blue birds.

But he found no water. Eventually, he came up with a rather odd idea and headed back to where he started.

After a short walk, he stopped before the corpse of the Harvest Critter. Then he lifted a vine-like limb from it and began cutting. Eventually, he was able to safely cut off the edge of the limb. When the tip fell to the ground, some kind of liquid began leaking out from the cut.

Zero raised the tree limb from his mouth and began drinking. The liquid was not quite as flowy as water and had a bit of a sweet, sour taste to it. Zero found it refreshing. Though that could be attributed to the lack of water he had the past few hours.

Now that Zero was thinking about time, he remembered that he had not slept all day. Well, it was still day here, but just a bit ago, it was evening for Zero. So he felt quite sleepy. Zero did not know if it would be safer to sleep at night or day, but he had no way of knowing yet.

He figured that since humans had bad vision in the dark, it would be better to sleep at night. For today, he had to thug it out and preferably find shelter.
