In the distant starry sky, three spherical space pods streaked through the void like meteors, passing one planet after another. Inside the pods, three young Saiyans sat in silence, looking bored.
"Hey, Vegeta, big bro… say something interesting, will you? It's always so quiet. It's boring."
Betkas complained through the communicator to Vegeta's pod, his face full of annoyance.
"Shut up!"
Vegeta, who was resting with his eyes closed, immediately snapped back in irritation.
Betkas ignored his tone.
"Tch… come on, what's the harm? We're only about ten minutes from our destination. Let's chat, stay alert, and work on our teamwork. Don't want to mess up later, right?"
Vegeta's mouth twitched. If Betkas's combat power wasn't so close to his own, he might have killed him already. Truth be told, he'd had that thought long ago.
"You…" Vegeta began.
Betkas smirked when he heard the response.
"Nappa, don't you agree?"
Inside his pod, Nappa froze. He hadn't expected Betkas to drag him into this.
"Uh… uh… well…"
"Both of you, shut it!"
Vegeta's voice came sharp and cold through the communicator. Betkas could hear the irritation in it, and Nappa quickly went quiet. Betkas looked indifferent, but Nappa was clearly nervous.
For someone born into the Saiyan nobility like Nappa, both Prince Vegeta and Third Prince Betkas were far above his station—not just in status, but in raw strength. Betkas's combat power was almost the same as Vegeta's, only slightly weaker. Nappa, on the other hand, was pitifully behind.
Betkas's combat power: 3,053
Vegeta's combat power: 3,062
Nappa's combat power: 764
The difference was almost laughable. In fact, Betkas's presence had forced Vegeta to train much harder over the years. With his pride, there was no way he could accept losing to his own younger brother—even though it had already happened many times.
Betkas guessed that by the time Vegeta and Nappa reached the age they were in the original story, Nappa's power level might exceed 10,000, and Vegeta's could easily surpass 25,000—especially with the "butterfly effect" of his own existence. As for himself? His goal was high: 120,000.
The reason was simple—among Frieza's subordinates, the strongest was Captain Ginyu, whose combat power reached 120,000 in the original timeline. If Betkas wanted to survive, he had to at least match that. Only then would he have the right to stand up to Frieza's forces, even the likes of Dodoria and Zarbon.
As for worrying that Frieza might become wary of him for being too strong? Not a chance. Frieza, without even transforming, had a combat power of 530,000, and in his final form, over 100 million. Why would he fear a "wild monkey" with barely over 100,000? The destruction of Planet Vegeta had more to do with the Saiyans being troublesome and arrogant than with the threat of the Super Saiyan legend.
"Target reached!"
At that moment, the three space pods pierced the atmosphere of a pale yellow planet and descended rapidly.
Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!
Like three meteors, they flew straight toward the planet's surface, landing in a barren wilderness.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Three deep craters, about ten meters wide each, formed as the pods slammed into the ground. The hatches opened, and the three Saiyans stepped out.
Betkas frowned as soon as he inhaled the air.
"The air here stinks. Is this planet even worth anything?" He covered his nose in disgust.
Vegeta covered his nose as well.
"Who cares? Our mission is simple—wipe out the population. After that, the clean-up team takes over."
He started walking toward the edge of the crater. Betkas and Nappa followed close behind.
Outside the crater, the wind howled over the barren land, kicking up dust and pebbles. In the distance, a village billowed thick black smoke.
Seeing this, Vegeta and Betkas exchanged a glance and smirked. Without a word, they flew toward the village, with Nappa trailing behind. In just a few seconds, they were hovering above it, looking down at the busy villagers.
Vegeta sneered.
"Let's start with this lot."
He slowly raised his right hand, a purple ki blast forming in his palm, glowing bright.
Betkas grinned.
"No problem."
He raised his left hand, gathering his own energy until a golden ki blast shimmered in his grasp.
Nappa, seeing them, quickly copied their actions.
In an instant, three ki blasts shot down like falling stars.
BOOM!
A massive explosion shook the ground, a mushroom cloud rising into the sky. The shockwave blasted dust into the air, mixed with strange liquids and severed limbs.
Vegeta stared coldly at the scene.
"How boring."
Betkas nodded in agreement.
The next second, five figures suddenly appeared before them, forcing all three Saiyans to tense up.
"You little brats! How dare you kill our people!"
Now that they could see clearly, the newcomers were wearing earth-yellow robes. Their skin was an even deeper shade of yellow, their muscles bulging with raw strength. Their heads were bald and round, each with a single antenna on top, and their eyes glowed with yellow pupils. The other four looked similar, though their heights varied.
Betkas muttered, slightly serious,
"Too bad, Vegeta. King Frieza didn't give us scouters, so we can't tell how strong these guys are."
Vegeta snorted.
"They're just trash."
The five aliens' faces darkened instantly, veins popping in fury.
One of the taller ones shouted,
"You'll pay for what you've done! You've angered the Chikse Clan, and that will cost you dearly!"
