Chapter 58 - Chapter 58: Enhanced Genjutsu

After waiting for the dust to settle, Uchiha Yato saw Danzo crawling out of the rubble, covered in soot and grime.

This didn't mean he was unharmed.

That attack had nearly wiped out the remaining Root forces—Yato had deliberately aimed his Fire Release where Root members were densely gathered.

The Root operatives who had been protecting Danzo were now reduced to "five pounds per person, ashes included."

The fact that Danzo was still standing meant he had resorted to some unknown method of survival.

Uchiha Yato muttered to himself, "Looks like he used Izanagi. I doubt he has any other life-saving tricks up his sleeve."

Not that Yato had expected to finish him off in one go.At such a critical moment, he couldn't afford to give the Third Hokage—that old schemer—any chance to screw him over. That would be too much of a loss.

Without waiting for Shimura Danzo to speak, Uchiha Yato directly hit him with a genjutsu.

This was the weakest moment for Danzo. If Yato didn't take this opportunity to strike him with an illusion, he'd wake up from his dreams just to slap himself twice in regret.

Meanwhile, the Anbu who had been hiding nearby now rushed out.

Of course, Uchiha Yato knew what they were wary of and casually reassured them, "Relax, our dear Elder Danzo is fine. I just gave him a little genjutsu."

As he spoke, Danzo's body began to tremble visibly.

This time, Yato didn't handle him the same way he had dealt with and bullied others before—just tossing a random illusion at him and letting him happily entertain himself.

No, this time, he activated his Mangekyo Sharingan and infused the genjutsu with his ocular power.

If you could see things from Danzo's perspective right now, you'd realize that this "Chicken Dance" was a little different from before.

Let's take a look at Danzo's point of view.

Originally, the illusion was just a single chicken dancing and splitting apart. But now?

Now, whether you attacked or not, chickens would keep multiplying and dragging you into the dance.

If you refused to dance, they'd force you. There was no room for rejection.

At this very moment, Danzo's entire body was surrounded by chickens, pulling him into an endless, involuntary dance.

This was an enhanced version of the genjutsu, and Uchiha Yato had thoughtfully replaced some of the chickens with his own laughter and grinning face, mocking Danzo from the sidelines.

Thus, delivering a perfectly exquisite experience for him.

With a cheerful tone, Uchiha Yato declared:

"Drown in the genjutsu of the Mangekyo."

Shortly after, Danzo was taken away by the Anbu and placed under custody in the Hidden Leaf prison.

After a long day's work, Uchiha Yato hoisted the sack containing Obito onto his shoulder and headed back to the Uchiha Clan Grounds.

Uchiha Clan Grounds

At this moment, Kakashi, Nohara Rin, and Uchiha Shisui were all waiting for Yato's return.

When Obito had been captured earlier, Yato had specifically sent a Shadow Clone to reassure the three of them that he would bring Obito back.

The trio obediently waited at the clan gates, trusting that Yato would return with Obito.

When they spotted Yato's figure approaching, carrying a sack over his shoulder, they knew the rescue had been successful.

The first to rush forward was, unsurprisingly, Nohara Rin.

She immediately checked Obito's condition, her heart aching at the sight of his injuries.

Without hesitation, she began applying the Medical Ninjutsu she had learned from Tsunade to heal him.

Meanwhile, Kakashi, relieved to see Obito safe, approached Yato to ask what had happened.

But Yato was burning with impatience—his system had just updated and even gifted him a reward package. The urge to check it was unbearable, like a cat scratching at his heart.

Yato quickly told the three of them, "Take care of Obito. He should only have some minor external injuries. Look after him properly."

Then, turning to Shisui, he said, "Shisui, come with me."

With that, he took Shisui's hand and led him away from Kakashi's little trio.

On the way back, Shisui asked, "Was it someone from the village who did this?"

Uchiha Yato was curious—why would Shisui ask that?He immediately countered, "How did you figure it out?"

Shisui replied, "You warned us before about people from other villages. If they heard the name Uchiha Clan, they'd at least show some respect."

"Unless they're sworn enemies or have a deep grudge, it's hard for them to resort to killing."

"But their actions were too practiced, and they directly targeted Obito. So I believe it was premeditated."

"In this case, someone from the village fits the description perfectly."

Uchiha Yato was very satisfied with Shisui's answer. His earlier reminder had covered everything that needed to be considered.

Yato didn't hide anything either, sharing with Shisui as much as he could about the situation.

Yato said, "Not everyone in the village is bad."

"Think about your Uncle Hatake and those civilian shinobi."

"But there will always be people who want to stir up trouble and ruin the hard-earned harmony."

Seeing Shisui deep in thought, Yato raised an example.

"Think about the elders in our clan—don't they all look down on others with their noses in the air?"

"Some of the higher-ups in the Hidden Leaf are the same, which is why there are bad apples in the village."

He had to admit, the example was straightforward and easy to understand.

At this point, Shisui sighed helplessly and said, "That's why so many elders in the village always say, 'Big Brother Yato, you're the most disrespectful person.'"

The elders in the clan, especially the Second Elder with his fiery temper, would puff up, glare, and gnash his teeth whenever Uchiha Yato was mentioned.

It couldn't be helped—Yato had been just as mischievous as a child.

Back then, the Second Elder, seeing such a promising talent, naturally wanted to discipline him.

And Yato had been all too happy to let the Second Elder "educate" him.

But Yato's learning ability was so strong that the Second Elder soon stopped teaching him any sword techniques, afraid he'd lose in a fight.

Instead, he taught Yato how to play shogi.

Well, well—you walked right into that one. Yato hadn't forced him, after all.

At the time, Yato had said, "If the Second Elder loses, it won't be fun without a prize."

"How about if you lose, I pluck one of your beard hairs?"

Hearing this little brat dare to look down on him, the Second Elder immediately agreed without even asking what Yato would wager if he lost.

In the end, after two months, Yato successfully used the Second Elder's beard hairs to make a calligraphy brush.

The very brush he still used today—sponsored exclusively by the Second Elder.

This also meant the Second Elder held an especially poor opinion of Yato. If anyone praised Yato, the elder would inevitably badmouth him.

Hearing Shisui bring up the Second Elder's story, Yato sighed nostalgically.

"If I'd put in a little more effort back then, I could've made a whole broom. And the First and Third Elders didn't contribute at all. If I'd known, I should've asked them to 'help out' too."

After returning home and handing Shisui over to the First Elder, Yato hurried back to his room.

He couldn't wait to see what rewards the system's latest update had in store for him.
