Chapter 17 - Chapter 17 – The Curse of the Aztec Gold

The girls —Erina Nakiri, Usagi Tsukino, Elizabeth Swann, and Hakua Shiodome— were huddled together in the dark cabin of the ghost ship, their faces pale and filled with fear. The cold creaking of the wooden vessel echoed around them, and the sound of chains and footsteps above deck only heightened their anxiety.

Suddenly, the heavy door creaked open.

A beam of moonlight spilled into the room, revealing a terrifying sight: skeletons moving about on deck, operating the ship. Each one of them wore tattered pirate clothing, and though their bones clattered with every step, they moved with the eerie coordination of experienced sailors.

One figure, more imposing than the rest, stepped through the doorway.

As he entered the shadowed room, his skeletal form was replaced by that of a living man. It was Hector Barbossa —captain of the cursed ship— who under the absence of moonlight appeared human once more.

He smiled with feigned courtesy.

"Ladies," he said smoothly, "I'll get straight to the point. One of you must be a descendant of Bill Turner."

The girls exchanged nervous glances. Usagi stepped forward first, trembling.

"I don't know who that is… My name is Usagi Tsukino."

"Erina Nakiri," said the blonde girl beside her, trying to sound composed.

"I'm Elizabeth Swann," the brunette added, carefully watching Barbossa.

"Hakua Shiodome…" murmured the smallest of them, her voice barely audible.

Barbossa narrowed his eyes, clearly unconvinced.

"Oh, I see. And you expect me to believe that none of you know the name Turner?" He chuckled, but there was no amusement in it. "No matter. I'll get the truth one way or another."

With a swift motion, he drew his sword and pointed it at Hakua —the smallest and most vulnerable of the group.

The girl froze, her body trembling.

The others gasped and stepped forward, but none dared move between her and the blade.

Then, unexpectedly, Hakua reached into her pocket and pulled out a pen. She turned to the wall and began scribbling frantic formulas and symbols across the wooden planks.

Barbossa paused.

He didn't understand the meaning of the equations, but something about the symbols struck him. They reminded him of something —of her. Of the one he had left behind so long ago because of this cursed existence.

His gaze softened. Without a word, he sheathed his sword and turned away.

"Keep them here," he muttered to the skeletal guards as he left the room.

Meanwhile, elsewhere on the seas, the Doctor moved swiftly through the docks alongside Will Turner, Komatsu, Minoru Mineta, Denki Kaminari, Shiryu, and Endeavor —all of them poorly disguised as pirates.

"This is absurd," Shiryu said, arms crossed, clearly uncomfortable with the deception.

"I agree," Endeavor growled. "Justice does not wear a disguise."

The Doctor only grinned. "Relax. Sometimes, to save the universe, you have to play the part."

As they moved through the crowd, the Doctor leaned toward the others.

"We're up against a cursed crew," he whispered. "Aztec gold, stolen and defiled. It granted immortality, but with a price. Only the blood of Bill Turner's descendant can lift the curse."

Will looked grim, already understanding his importance.

They eventually came upon a group of drunken pirates and, through a mixture of trickery, wit, and sheer luck, managed to steal their ship.

Once on board, the Doctor spun the wheel and declared, "Next stop: Tortuga! If anyone knows where the cursed treasure lies, it'll be someone there."

And with that, their ship set sail into the night, in search of answers and the means to save the captured girls.
