Chapter 4 - Chapter 4: Im just trying to help..

After finally doing 50 push ups.

DING

James was dripping with sweat, beads rolling down his forehead as he collapsed onto the floor, panting

"Damn, if tomorrow is going to be the same this body of mine will ache like crazy. But based on the missions the system gave me, its giving me mission to change myself— to become a better version of me."

He muttered to himself between breaths.

Dinner had already finished. His family had eaten without him, at his own decision.

James only had 1,000 calories left for the day, so he had to be careful with what he ate and how much of it.

But that wouldn't be easy—his parents would notice if he started eating less and immediately worry.

"Mom and Dad are such worrywarts. If I suddenly start changing too fast, they'll think I'm sick or something…"."

James then took a bath, and changed clothes and went to the twins' room because it was time to help them with their homework.

"Paul, Saul do you guys have any homework? I'll help."

James asked while entering the room of the twins

"Saul, is this really or brother?"

"I don't know Paul but I guess so."

Saul and Paul nodded in agreement.

"Oh, come on. Just answer me already. Do you have any homework or not?"

James asked, a visible vein pulsing on his temple.

"Hmmm nope, right Saul?"

"Hmmmm. Yeah we dont have any homework Paul."

Once again, the twins nodded in sync.

'If the twins don't have any homework that leaves that woman...Julia...Ugh why does it have to be her.'

James sighed, massaging his temples.

"If ever you have homework, come to me don't bother Mom and Dad let them rest."

"Yep yep."

The twins said in unison.

Going out the room.

James then went up stairs to a room he had rarely been inside of. Even though it was infront of his own room.

Then he knocked.

"Hey Julia open up."

Then a reply came from inside the room.

"Weirdo go away, Im busy with homework."

'Just as I thought Julia was the one who had homework '

James thought.

"Let me help you. Come on Im trying to become a better person over here let me help you."

There was a pause, then the click of an unlocking doorknob. The door creaked open.

"Fine. Come in. But don't get any weird thoughts," Julia said, her blonde hair messy, a pair of prescription glasses perched on her nose.

'Woah I didn't think this room could vastly change '

"When did you change your room? It used to be full of anime posters and K-pop albums."

James asked.

"That was ages ago, like when I was in elementary and that was the last time I let you inside of my room."

Julia's room was now clean, mature, and stylish. The walls were painted soft pink and white.

James muttered as he was guided to a seat.

'Yeah, she's right. It has been ages. She used to lock her door specifically to keep me out. I guess she thought I'd terrorize her or something….. That rumor again. I wouldn't even do that to a stranger, let alone my sister. These stories people make up about me… its disgusting...'

James's thought.

"Here, Im having trouble in solving this trigonometric equation."

Julia said as she pushed a book towards James.

'11th grade math, huh? Oh right—she's taking summer classes to get ahead.'

The problem was

A student is flying a kite. The string of the kite is 120 meters long and makes an angle of 40° with the level ground.

Assuming the string is perfectly straight and taut, how high is the kite above the ground (to the nearest meter)?

'System, help me out here?'

James tapped his glabella.

But the 'To Be Loved' system didn't respond.

'Ugh, fine. I've done this kind of problem before. I got this.'

"Youll first identify the sides of the triangle, The hypotenuse, the adjacent and the Opposite. This here is a right triangle problem .Given here the kite with 120 meters has an angle of 40 degrees which is the Hypotenuse."

He continued.

"The ground being the Adjacent and the overall height of the kite being the Opposite. "

'So far so good..'

"Then this is the tricky part There are 3 kinds of way to know what your going to use when solving problems regarding triangle. Next, remember the trigonometry functions: SOH-CAH-TOA.

SOH: Sine = Opposite / Hypotenuse.

CAH: Cosine = Adjacent / Hypotenuse.

TOA: Tangent = Opposite / Adjacent.

In this problem, we're solving for the opposite, and we're given the hypotenuse. So we use sine."

'The way she's looking at me is like Im a genuis or something but this is just basic math.'

" Now the way to solve this is to plug in the known into the formula . Since given that its a 40° degree angle we'll it as Our S or Sine. Sine (40°) = Opposite which is still unknown divided by the hypotenuse which is 120 meters. So it'll look like this."

sin(40°)= Opposite/120m

"And since we'll be solving for Opposite we'll multiply both sides by 120m to isolate the Opposite, it goes like this in my way of solving. "

sin(40°) × 120m= Opposite/120 m × 120m

"Crash out the 2 120's because they cancel each other out so..."

sin(40°) ×120m=Opposite

"Now that's its done its basically done you just have to input sin40 x 120m in your scientific calculator and its done."

"The answer is 77.14 meters."

Julia said as she inputed the numbers in her scientific calculator.

"Round it to the nearest whole number and you get… 77 meters."

James said smugly.

"....Thanks....James....I appreciate it...NOW GET OUT!"

Julia said as she pushed James out.

"Your welcome"

James said outside the room.

DING

'Now that's done, I can move on to my passive tasks... Julia's always been like that. Masking her real emotions with anger and sarcasm. I'm just glad I could help—even a little.'

Then James turned to face his final challenge of the day—his greatest enemy.

"Time to face my biggest threat…

My hands."
