Bubbles's Point of view
Bubbles lay flat on the ground, pain shooting through her body from her back. Her wings were unable to move. She took a deep breath in, trying to remind herself of the fact that if she did not move, she would be dead within minutes. With a strong push of her arms, she got up on her knees, stabilised herself, and stood up. She had to get closer to Flora. Her heart beat faster as she started to run towards where she had last seen her. The blood in her veins pulsed, wanting to move towards the wound. She ducked in order to avoid a goblin flying through the air – she had seen it being thrown by one of the larger wolves that were making a massacre in the eastern part of the camp at one of the breaches in the hedge wall. Then she could see Flora in the middle of the camp, but the pack leader and his mate, who were protecting her were starting to look tired. Her eyes moved to look at Flora, and then she saw something that made her heart stop. It was as if time stopped as well for her to take it all in.
A snake spread out over Flora's face as she spoke. It seemed to have appeared out of nowhere. Her skin started to crack into pieces of white flakes that slowly began to fall off and reveal a dark red skin underneath - a color as strong as blood or rage. It looked like she was mumbling something, completely unbothered by the snake. Bubbles crawled over a pile of goblin corpses to get a better view of Flora. She saw how her fingertips grew as black as ink, the colour travelling up her hands and arms as she spoke.
And then the corpses of wolves and goblins around her began to rise. Slowly and steadily, the heads of the dead wolves looked up towards Flora, as if waiting for an order.
Bubbles jumped back in terror as the dead goblin she had just crawled over began walking towards the main exit of the camp. She leaped away, trying to fly, but falling to the ground again, she made her way towards Flora and the pack leader. Now so close that she could hear Flora's words, but she did not understand the words as she watched her move across the grounds, Flora's gaze moving from one pile of corpses and bones to the next. She was beginning to walk away from the protective zone the pack leader had created for her, but it did not matter as all around her the dead rose to surround and shield her.
Flora's Point of view
"Blessed be the dead," Flora chanted, "will you let me guide what remains of you? Let your bones be drenched in darkness and guided by my will. Surrender yourself to my command. Let your body have a new purpose in this world," she said and continued to speak words of reassurance to the corpses and bones of everything around her.
Flora's eyes were fixed on a pair of bones that had been chewed on. She put out a little extra energy, which brought them up, though the body was not complete nor at full strength. Multiple piles of bones and corpses were in a similar state.
Bubbles's Point of view
"What have you done to her?" Bubbles yelled as she reached the pack leader, as she captured the goblin that was attacking him in a bubble and threw it away.
The pack leader turned towards her as Bubbles ducked under the attack of another goblin. The leader quickly grabbed the goblin and threw it against the ground, before placing his foot on top of its skull and crushing it against the ground. "I have done nothing – you are telling me you know nothing of her power?"
Bubbles sighed, "Well, of course not – the powers of the royal family are kept a secret."
"HA!" the pack leader laughed, and his mate chuckled along with him, "that is understandable."
Flora's army of undead quickly turned the battle in their favor, and after the battle, Flora and Bubbles had quickly located each other, and within seconds, Flora had noticed the blood dripping down from the gaping scratches in her back. Without asking further questions, Flora had half dragged her along to the healer, a grey and white older male wolf, who had put up his station in the middle of the camp, next to the largest fire.
Bubbles turned her head and looked back over her shoulder, her hand tracing along as she tried to get a better view of the scar she felt as her fingers traced over her back, gently touching it. She felt a sharp sting as she moved her fingers over it, trying not to scratch it.
"You have to stand still," the healer snapped at Bubbles and turned towards Flora, who was standing beside them. "Can't you make her stand still?"
Flora just shook and smiled at both of them, "sorry, I know nothing of healing." But she still sat down next to Bubbles and put her arm on her thigh.
A cub trotted over to her and put its head in her lap, trying to comfort her, seemingly imitating what it could see Flora doing. But its head was too big compared to hers, and the weight a little too much for her.
The healer started moving her fingers gently over the scars, viewing them similarly to what Bubbles had done herself. "Does it hurt?" he asked.
She tried not to show her pain too much, since Flora was there, but still nodded. "Well, obviously," she said and sighed.
The healer began to bandage her up, covering her wings as she did. "You are one hell of a lucky fairy that they didn't get your wings," the wolf said with a pair of sharp thorns – used as needles – in its mouth.
Flora and Bubbles looked at each other; she suspected they were thinking the same thing. Luckily, the wolves did not know that fairy wings grew out again in a couple of weeks if they were torn out. Bubbles had once seen a fairy with badly damaged wings that had them dragged out of their back, so they could grow out undamaged. Of course, she preferred not to have that experience.
"Thank you," Flora said for her when the healer had finished up their work, "it looks good."
"It better," the healer said in a proud tone, "we don't want you to be back here within the week – except to have the bandages replaced, you understand me?"
Bubbles nodded.
"Alright, on you go," he said and pushed them away from his station.
The blood was already starting to soak through the bandages as they walked, but Bubbles did not complain.
"We should go see the pack leader," Flora said, "that is, if you are feeling up for it?"
Bubbles really wanted to rest for a day or two. "I am alright," she said.
Flora stared at her. "You are not, though. Please," she paused and put her hand against her cheek. "Let me take care of you."
And for the second time, Bubbles felt a warm - though this time pleasant – feeling spread through her body.
Flora leaned towards her and placed a gentle kiss on her other cheek. "I think it is your turn to be pampered."
