Chapter 6 - From scandal to spotlight

They worked together for five years. I think that there might be something between them.

After all, they are a cool guy and a beauty and they got along with each other day and night.

Zoe gritted her teeth so hard that it made a creaking sound. Workmate loyalty? College classmates' friendship? Ha, in the end, they were described them like that.

"Chennault, I didn't expect you to put on a show after I died. Even my death will be taken out by you like a show."

"Since l'm reborn, I have to kill you myself, just wait and see!"

"Beep!" Jack parked his car by the sea, and a group of reporters who were waiting a long time immediately surrounded them. The cameras, the flashlights, were all dazzling.

"York, today Zoe jumped into the sea... Bah! It's a breaking news that Zoe slipped down into the sea, all the reporters gathered here, they must be waiting for you."

Jack pointed to the reporters outside the window and said.

The marriage between the Pei's and the Su's was a big event, not to mention that there was such explosive news today.

York frowned slightly and then relaxed. He was as elegant as a prince in a pure white suit.

After opening the left door and getting out of it, he opened the back door for Zoe politely. His elegant movements were like the ancient nobles in the European medieval castle. He bent slightly and stretched out his left hand.

Zoe glanced at the black figures outside and took a deep breath.

With a gentle smile on her face, her hands in a pure white glove were gently placed on York's palm.

He took her by the hand and walked out of the car door. Such a simple move costed countless films in an instant.

"Mr. Pei, I heard that your fiancee Miss Su would rather jump into the sea than marry you. Is this true?"

"Miss Su, I heard that your homecoming was forced by this arranged marriage. In fact, you love someone else, and would rather commit suicide than marry Mr. Pei. Don't you despise the reputation of Mr. Pei as the number one playboy in Sea City?"

"Mr. Pei, seeing you appear together, are you forced to walk together again because of the business cooperation between the Pei's and the Su's?"

"Miss Su, I heard that your lover is a poor boy. Is it because of love that you chose him to choose Mr. Pei who is tall, rich, and handsome?"

A group of reporters tightly blocked York and Zoe.

Bodyguards around still could not stop their enthusiasm at all, and all questions were very sharp and tricky.

Zoe was only glad that she had not had time to say something wrong in front of these reporters in the past. Otherwise, it would be too difficult for her to say what is white is black.

"Calm down!" York glanced at the crowd, sank his voice and said, "'I! only say it once."

This sentence immediately silenced the noisy crowd.

"First of all, I'll correct one thing: Zoe Su is my legal wife, not my fiancee. We've already registered in the Civil Affairs Bureau.

Secondly, my wife didn't jump into the sea, but was slipped when she was watching the scenery. After being treated in the hospital, she's fine now. So the wedding is going to be carried out as usual."

York's lips curled into a noble smile. "My wife and I are close to each other. Please ignore the rumors and do not falsely repeat what was not true."

When he said the last sentence, he grabbed her hand. Through the gloves, he allowed her to feel his hot palm, and let her know that she was not facing all of this alone at this moment.

"Miss Su, whether the appearance of you and Mr. Pei at the same time means that you have accepted the marriage arranged by your family. You have given up your boyfriend and turned to the arms of this rich and handsome man! Is this called "forcing good girls of good families to prostitute themselves"?

Or it's just you who despise the poor and curry favour with the rich?"

A female reporter squeezed in front of them, and her words were extremely unpleasant.

If it was Zoe in the past, she would be exploded long ago. But now, Zoe only glanced at the female reporter gently, and her elegant smile was the same as York's.

"Please check the dictionary of idioms before use an idiom. When did marriage equate to prostitution? Slandering a married woman just because you're unmarried is definitely NOT the quality of a professional reporter."

"Miss Su, do you admit that you despise the poor and curry favour with the rich, right?"

The female reporter continued to ask shamelessly.

Zoe gave her a contemptuous look. "Excuse me, money is never a problem for my family."

Just one word made the female reporter speechless. Indeed, everyone knew that the Su's took out half of their family property as Zoe's dowry in this marriage.

It was not despising the poor and currying favour with the rich, but was supporting their daughter's marriage by paying.

York smiled evilly and held Zoe up.

Zoe was caught off guard but held him by the neck to stabilize herself, making a sound of surprise.

"Well done."

A low and magnetic voice sounded in her ears, with a little appreciation.

He carried her through the media and went all the way to the ship.

Zoe didn't be served with a bridal-style hug even in the process of fetching the bride in the morning, but now she did.

On the deck, people had been watching them from afar. When York put Zoe down and held her hand to walk over, everyone was looking at them.

The pure white wedding dress in the morning could no longer be worn because of what happened this morning, but at this time, Zoe looked more stunning than she was in the morning.

The chest-covering white long dress was tied up and slender, and looked extremely simple without any excessive decoration. Its hemline swayed behind her one or two meters long, and it fell on the ground like flowers blooming.

It was unutterable domineering, lowkey but luxurious. Anyone who knew the wedding dress had already recognized that it was a signature of the wedding dress hanging in the 17th-floor window of the Century Tower in Sea City.

Many young ladies fancied it, but it was not for sale no matter how much money you offer.
