Chapter 13 - As Night falls, Light gives way to Darkness (Part one)

Annabelle pretended not to notice the girl and calmly sat down a few feet to her right.

Clara, realizing there was a guest at her observation point, turned her head in surprise and froze immediately.

She knew the girl; she was the one who tried to pick up Elion from school as often as possible. Of course, Clara saw her frequently.

She also saw how, as soon as Elion saw her, he immediately ran into his sister's arms with a sparkling smile on his face. This annoyed Clara, of course, but unfortunately, the enemy was on a completely different level. The ten-year-old girl, although quite unusual, had zero chance of putting up a decent fight.

Clara stared at her in shock, but quickly turned away and pretended nothing had happened.

"..."

A strange atmosphere settled in.

Clara tried not to look at Annabelle, but she kept glancing over without turning her head.

Annabelle pretended not to notice anything around her, smiling softly at the frenzied crowd of children. If you looked closely, though, you could see her left eye twitching slightly.

"..."

"..."

In this strange atmosphere, they continued to watch the match, clearly hiding their inexplicable emotions.

The game was coming to an end, and only three survivors remained.

Elion looked at the two guys next to him and said with a tired smile,

"Guys, if we all end up in the grave, know that I love you..."

"Shut up already!"

"Dodge, don't talk!"

Elion could only remain silent under their furious shouts.

They're so tired, yet they still give me advice. What nice guys. Beany would definitely say nothing if he were in their place. These thoughts flashed through his mind. Incidentally, Bean Pod was the first to drop out of the game.

Motivated, Elion decided to share some advice.

"Guys! The main thing is not to lose hope..."

*Boom!*

*Boom!*

No sooner had he finished speaking than two boys were hit simultaneously in the head by balls and fell backward, completely drained of strength.

"It seems their hope has abandoned them..." He said with pity.

Elion did not flinch at the openly mocking and derisive glances of more than a hundred people directed at him; he was filled with confidence.

He was naturally flexible and agile, which was not surprising since he had made it to the final round of the battle. So his confidence was somewhat justified.

Finally, after carrying the exhausted boys far away, everyone prepared for the decisive battle.

Elion glanced at everyone and exclaimed with a cheeky smile:

"O inevitable fate, come to me, for I have waited long enough! Let's begin!!!" He shouted, and hundreds of balls flew at him.

Elion held out for five seconds.

After that, he gave up his honorary title of "Untouchable."

...

Finally, after everyone had rested and discussed the game, they began to disperse.

Elion wanted to go to the school entrance and wait for his sister there, but he was surprised to see her sitting on a bench, watching him.

"Belle!" The boy exclaimed happily, smiling at his sister. She smiled and waved back.

He ran cheerfully toward her, overcome with joy, but stopped in his tracks when he saw Clara sitting next to her.

Seeing the two girls looking at him strangely, as if waiting to see which girl he would approach first, Elion decided to play the fool, something he was quite good at.

"Ha-ha! What are you two chatterboxes doing here? Are you talking about me? Ha-ha." Elion said with a slightly unnatural smile.

"..."

"..."

"Ha-ha..."

Elion found himself in a strange situation and was confused. Then, Annabelle asked with an incomprehensible smile:

"My dear little brother, was it you who did this?" She nodded her head a couple of inches toward Clara.

The boy looked at what she was pointing at, tilting his head and saying puzzledly:

"I did what? Clara? What are you talking about? How could I be Clara's parent? I may not be an adult yet, but I know a little about these biological pro..."

"That's not what I mean." Annabelle interrupted calmly.

Elion looked closely at Clara, who was already nervous from listening to the conversation. Now, she squirmed even more under his gaze.

Realizing the problem, he understood that his sister had probably noticed the flowers torn from the flowerbeds and the cobblestones uprooted at the school entrance. With a proud smile, he said:

"Oh, you mean that... Yes, I did that. Look at this mini-Clara. Isn't she adorable? But Clara didn't seem to like it very much... I knew that would happen, so I had an extra gift prepared. What do you think?"

"I see..." Annabelle said calmly. After thinking for a moment, she got up and walked over to her brother.

"Belle, what are you... O-oh..."

Annabelle silently picked up the boy, who had no idea what was going on, and carried him far away.

"Sister, where are you taking me?" the boy asked, confused.

"We're going home." Anabel replied calmly.

"But..."

"Home."

Elion was powerless against his inevitable fate.

...

Looking at the back of the enemy carrying Elion, blocking him completely, Clara put her gifts aside. She clenched her fists tightly and tried her best to suppress the tears about to spill out.

"I... I couldn't even say anything..." Clara muttered, still clenching her fists and looking at that impenetrable back.

Suddenly, the boy's head popped out from behind the back, and he exclaimed with a cheerful smile:

"Clara, thank you for watching our match. Your gaze gave me strength, and I won only because of it!"

The girl carrying the boy tried to push his head back, but he deftly dodged her and continued.

"Don't forget to bring a gift. I'll be waiting!" the boy said cheerfully as he climbed back into his sister's cozy embrace.

Looking into his bright yellow eyes, Clara said quietly,

"Okay..."

Turning away, she picked up a beautiful bouquet of flowers and began to quietly cry, her fists no longer clenched.

"Make sure..."

"You wait for my gift..."
