After hearing these words, he looked at his father—who had already been nearly dragged to the table—in a new light. Under the influence of fairy tales and heroic stories, a fitting title came to mind for his father: "Fighter for the Right Cause."
Admiring his dad's persistence, the boy finally finished the last cheesecake. The boy watched as his sister handed their half-asleep father to their mother. She carefully laid him on a chair and sat down next to him to feed him.
"Donnie... Open your mouth." The woman said gently, surely secretly enjoying the situation.
"Aa..." Donovan opened his mouth and swallowed the cheesecake.
He chewed slowly, and his eyes began to twitch, and his eyebrows furrowed as if he realized something was wrong.
"Celestia, I think something's wrong here... It's as if the last piece of the puzzle is missing... There's a flaw in the cause-and-effect relationship... A tangle of mysteries, ready to be unraveled, has emerged..."
Before he could finish, his wife interrupted him.
"That's enough. We just ran out of jam. Eat it and don't complain," Celestia said sternly.
"Ah..., That's what it is. I remember eating the last jar last night, so it was inevitable," He said wearily, sighing dejectedly.
Elion latched onto his words and finally found the solution to the mystery that had been tormenting him since breakfast began. Where could a whole jar of jam have disappeared to in one night? He clearly remembered his mother opening a new jar yesterday and spreading a new portion on his bread at a late dinner.
Elion had inherited his dad's love of sweets, so the appearance of another rival for food did not make him happy. Besides, this rival acted quietly under the cover of night and did not respect the rules of fair combat.
"So it was you! Dad, I didn't know you could be so mean! You attacked when your opponent hadn't even opened his eyes!" Elion exclaimed indignantly.
His dad clearly realized his mistake and muttered sheepishly,
"Exactly... I'm sorry, son. I wanted to save some for you, but by the time I came to my senses, there was nothing left. After all, I can't control how much I eat when I'm focused on work..."
Elion did not easily accept his father's apology and blurted out with the same indignation.
"Those are all excuses! What actions have you taken to remedy the situation? Where are they?!"
His dad bowed his head in shame, but then gathered his thoughts and said firmly.
"You're right, son. Regrets won't fix anything. Along with tomorrow's gift, you'll find a jar of jam and condensed milk on your table for your personal use. Mistakes must be paid for twice over... I admit that."
After thinking for a moment and softening his resentment toward his dad, Elion decided to overlook the fact that, because of him, he had shed tears of shame due to a lack of sweetness in his life. After all, his dad had already admitted his guilt, and the boy gladly decided to forgive him.
"So be it... After all, I am a virtuous person, and those who admit their mistakes and correct them should be respected. So today, my dear dad..."
After a dramatic pause, the forgiving father said with the kindest smile:
"I forgive you."
He looked at his dad kindly for a few seconds when, suddenly, soft applause was heard from the other end of the table.
Noticing this, he turned his head and saw a very pleasant sight.
A beautiful girl sat by the window.
The midday sun's rays passed through her soft, wheat-colored hair, creating an incredibly attractive sight.
It was as if the sun itself had descended from the heavens to shine just a few feet away.
Her peach-colored eyes were narrowed and fixed on her brother as if nothing else existed around them. It was as if a world filled with the most beautiful things had appeared before her eyes.
Remaining in this world where only the two of them existed, the girl said to the boy in the most wonderful voice he had ever heard:
"Elion."
Finally ceasing to gaze at this otherworldly scene, Elion met Anabel's eyes and heard the most pleasant words, which he heard every day as if for the first time.
"I love you..." His sister said with a happy smile that practically radiated light.
In this world where only the two of them existed, the girl added, her smile changing to a slightly mischievous one:
"Do you love me too?"
"I..." Looking at the happiest and most beautiful girl in the world, Elion felt a pleasant sensation wash over him.
It was as if he had seen the sun for the first time and wrapped himself in its warm rays.
Elion was undoubtedly happy.
A happiness so strong that you would want to leave the whole world behind just to stay in its rays.
He understood that not even the brightest star in the sky could shine brighter than this girl.
And he was so happy that this sun always shone directly on him.
...
"I...you... I...you... I ..." Elion muttered indistinctly in a trance.
Celestia looked warmly at the couple. Smiling cheerfully, she muttered,
"Well, he's short-circuiting again. Donnie, do something about it."
"..."
"Donnie?"
Looking at her husband, who was lying on the table with his nose in his plate and was clearly asleep, Celestia didn't even find it surprising.
Shifting her gaze from her sleeping husband to her son, who was still stuttering, and her daughter, who was the happiest in the world, Celestia muttered dejectedly,
"Am I the only normal one in this family...?"
And with that, this glorious breakfast came to an end.
