Chapter 4 - Hope

He wasn't even able to sleep properly because of the steep branch. His body was hurting like hell.

As he was climbing down from the tree, he slipped and fell halfway.

"Ouch! Damn it... Why is it so foggy here? I can't see anything."

He knew he had to find food and water but first, he needed something to protect himself. Spotting a pretty large stick nearby, he picked it up.

"Yes… this should be good enough for now."

As he wandered through the foggy forest searching for food and water, he stumbled upon the same thing he had tripped over yesterday.

"Damn it! What is this again?"

Looking closely, he realized it was a skull.

"What?! Is this… a human skull? Are there still humans here?"

But something felt off. The skull didn't look like that of a normal human.

"Was there a mutation...?"

Still, one thing was now clear: there may still be some humans alive in this place.

Fueled by a renewed sense of hope, he continued his search. After a long walk, he finally came across a river and next to it, a mango tree.

He drank the water and ate some mangoes.

"Finally… I'm full."

Now, he had to get out of the forest. But before that, he needed to pack some food and water to take with him.

While searching for something to carry them in, he spotted a banana tree.

"Yes! This banana leaf could be used to wrap and carry the food."

Next, he needed something to carry water. As he walked, he came across the bones of a large animal. He was about to walk past them when something caught his eye.

"Wait!"

He turned back, looked closely at the animal remains, and said:

"Let's go... These horns I could use them to preserve water."

He cleaned the leaf and the horn, then made a rope out of some long grass. He tied it around his waist and carried his food and water there.

"Now... let's get out of this forest and find humans."
