Chapter 4 - CHAPTER FOUR

"Sir Andre—"

"Andre. Just Andre."

"…uhm, alright, Andre," Mrs. Shen Xu corrected herself, a little thrown off. "Can I know the reason you wouldn't want any of the entertainment roles?"

"…"

"Andre?"

He finally spoke, voice quiet but firm. "Is there any other kind of work… apart from the ones related to entertainment?"

"Why that?"

"…I don't like fame."

"What?" she blinked.

"…"

"Sorry—Andre, you don't want popularity? Is that why you're rejecting offers in the entertainment industry?"

"Yes."

Mrs. Shen looked genuinely puzzled. "Well… there really isn't any other position at headquarters that suits your profile. You're clearly qualified—and your major is in the arts."

"I draw," Andre said simply.

"Yes, we saw that in your profile and from the survey you took. But there isn't a specific department for that here at HYU."

Andre fell quiet again. Words were never his strong suit. He preferred action to explanation—and he didn't owe these people his whole life story anyway.

'I didn't want to be here in the first place, he thought bitterly, eyes flicking away. Working in this man's company? What a joke. I could've just taken a part-time job and earned decent money without dealing with any of this mess'

"Andre?" Mrs. Shen tried again.

"…Can I have a job that doesn't involve singing, acting, or dancing?"

"You mean… you're rejecting all three?"

"Yes."

'Mrs. Shen was clearly stunned. It wasn't every day someone refused an offer from HYU's Entertainment Division—especially one handpicked by the CEO himself.

She observed him now with fresh eyes. He really is… something else. His features were striking, his presence magnetic. This boy—no, this man—was ridiculously attractive. Sharp silver eyes, a face that looked carved out of marble, and a body that didn't match the softness of his expression at all. Tall. Built. Maybe 187 cm, she guessed.

A cutie with a man's body. The kind you'd want to keep away from the world if you could. Which was ironic, considering he was exactly the kind of person who could dominate the industry within a year.'

"Andre… there isn't any other division that fits your skills except—"

"Assistant."

"What?" she blinked again.

"I want to be an assistant. Someone who works behind the scenes—with a celebrity or an artist."

"You want to be… an assistant?" she repeated, stunned. "Andre, I don't think that's right. You were brought here by the president himself. That kind of position—"

"No need to be concerned," he cut her off smoothly. "I'll do what I want. He has no say. It's my life."

"But—"

"No buts. And anyway, I don't fit the criteria for those roles. I don't have the talent for that kind of thing."

Mrs. Shen fell completely silent. There was no convincing him otherwise.

"…Alright," she finally sighed. "If that's what you want, we'll arrange the position for you."

"Hm."

…..

She turned to her assistant.

"I heard Mo Yu is still looking for a new assistant after the last one quit."

"Yes ma."

"Take Andre to him. Tell him I personally recommended him. He can assess Andre himself—and if he doesn't like him, assign Andre to another artist."

"Understood."

I watched as they decided my job like it was nothing—but I didn't complain. For once, this worked in my favor. If I started working, that meant I could finally get out of that house whenever I wanted. Work would keep me away from it… from him. I needed to thank that man for this opportunity—

'Wait… Andre's brow twitched.'

'Mo Yu? That name… isn't he that ridiculously famous singer in Z City? An S-list celebrity?'

'Tch. Figures. I don't want fame, and now I'm about to work directly under someone who defines it.'

Well… whatever. I didn't come here to be famous. I came to make money—and leave that house for good.
