Morning in Goblin's Grove felt different.Hana had gone home the previous afternoon, but her presence had left a warm impression on all the goblins. Even before dawn, they were already working without needing any orders.
Lee Jun stood in the main square, watching each group busily handling their own tasks. Good… they're starting to move on their own without waiting for me to tell them.
Finishing the Walls and Gate
Godon stood before a line of warriors, barking instructions.Several worker goblins hauled stones while others chiseled and fitted them into small gaps in the wall. The base of the wall was reinforced to withstand greater impact.
On the other side, Moji was teaching two apprentice shamans to weave a thin magical layer across the wall's surface.A faint shimmer followed their hand movements, granting the structure extra protection.
Simple Watchtowers
Jun decided to build two wooden watchtowers—one at the eastern corner and one at the western.Draksra led the scouts to take turns manning the towers. However, even before the towers were complete, the scouts were already arguing over who would get the first shift.
"Me first!""No, I climb faster!"
Jun could only shake his head with a faint smile.
Expanding the Farmland
Near the gate, ten goblin farmers worked on expanding a small vegetable patch. Its location was close to the wall, making it easier to guard.Jun reminded them to also keep tending to the rice paddies and potato fields, where small green shoots had just begun to sprout.
Joint Training
In the training grounds, three groups practiced at the same time.Godon put the warriors through grueling physical drills, Moji guided the shamans in controlling their magic, while Draksra trained the scouts in speed and stealth.
A comical scene broke out when two curious warriors tried handling a bow.The arrow flew… and lodged itself right into one of their feet. The goblin's yelp was met with roaring laughter from everyone present.
A Safer Grove
By late afternoon, Jun stood at the gate. The fortress walls now surrounded the territory, watchtowers stood in the corners, fields were greening, and every goblin was hard at work in their role.
He took a deep breath and smiled.
"Now… if anyone tries to come in, they'll think twice."
