Chapter 2 - Chapter 2. I'm the main character

My name is Nagisa. For as long as I can remember, I've dreamed of being the main character.

Over the years, I have longed to take center stage, but as time passes, I've come to realize that I'm not particularly special in any way.

I tried all kinds of sports trying to be the best at it, but never did I succeed. I met those who are truly gifted in this field and never overcame them.

If I stood before them, people pitied me, mocked me, and made jokes about me, thinking I could do better than these people.

So I learn to be an academic achiever, but my grades were nothing but mediocre.

While others were considered a genius, I was just normal, your average Joe, that isn't good or bad.

So in the end I gave up, realizing that I will never be a main character in this life of mine.

Then suddenly, I found myself in a white space, with four other people, from afar, all of them were the same age as me, looking around the space before me, I thought this was the time for me to shine.

I realize I wasn't meant to be a Main character in this life, but in another life, in another world.

As I looked around, I heard someone say, "Sorry for accidentally killing you all," out loud.

Then he appeared, a child around 4'10 with mushroom hair and fox-like eyes, seeing him I thought I'm finally getting the attention I deserve.

But— why is he focusing on that man? I'm here, shouldn't you focus on me instead?

I'm the main character, not him. I'm someone who tried to be the best in everything but never got to shine, so focus on me.

I screamed as loud as I could, but no matter how much I raised my voice, no one seemed to hear me at all.

Why? Why are you focusing on him and not me...

After those two had a conversation for half an hour, I found myself falling in the sky with the rest, as a portal opened behind me, and I heard that man scream out.

"GOOD LUCK."

---

Now I'm here in another world, near a town before me. Looking at it I knew this was the place I was about to start my own unique story.

But before all that, I need to check on it again. "Status window."

Looking again at my status, I felt a stimulation in my body. I knew I was meant to be a main character.

My mana was already at 600 points in total, not that I already have 3 skills on me. Fireball, heal, and barrier skills. Looking at them, a grin came to my face, I couldn't help it, seeing multiple skills on me already.

Studying my status closer, I found another detail I had seen before. [Unique traits] This wasn't here before in the white space, reading it, I finally realize what God meant by having exceptional skills.

This is what he was talking about, these unique traits of mine will make me stronger than everyone else in this world. Just looking at it, I can already see the future of me using advanced magic, which will captivate everyone.

The more I study my status, the more amazed I am by it. After an hour looking at it, I spotted my titles. And the moment it pressed it, I found something that could break this world's logic if they learn it.

---

I took a break from my status after seeing my title effects, and after some time, I summoned it again.

Since I have AP and SP, I spend them now, since now I'm the main character.

This place looks medieval, I need to have the strength to fight back against the monsters of this world.

After some thought, Nagisa put 8 points in strength and 2 points in endurance. Seeing his strength go from 2 to 10 felt amazing for him.

Knowing he has fireball and heal skills already, he put 3 SP points in each of them, putting the two skills at level 2. And put the rest of his SP to Barrier skills making it level 3.

Leaving him no AP and SP points anymore.

After assigning his points, Nagisa lay on the ground, gazing up at the sky, finding it beautiful. The endless blue expanse was adorned with lovely cloud formations.

As Nagisa continued to enjoy the view, he heard a voice nearby. Standing up and looking up, he found himself staring at a golden-haired girl who appeared to be the same age as him.

The girl looked at him and asked in a soft voice, "Are you okay?" Her concern captivated Nagisa.

He straightened himself and replied, "Yes! I'm alright, miss..."

The girl studied him for a moment before moving closer. As this beautiful girl approached, Nagisa couldn't help but feel embarrassed.

When she was near, she took his hand, wrapping it gently in both of hers, and said with a smile.

"You have a wound here. Let me heal it for you." Her hand glimmered in golden lights.

"She's so nice," Nagisa thought to himself. He noticed a cross mark on her, indicating that she was a healer.

As she heals him, Nagisa couldn't help but remember how the start of all Isekai usually starts like this, if so he needed to make sure not to ruin this moment.

"Done!" she announced, releasing his hand. She looked at Nagisa and asked, "Aren't you going into the town? If you are, I'd like to join you." Turning her back from Nagisa and walking towards the town.

"No, I plan to stay in this town now," he responded as he walked behind her.

"Hmm, is that so? Then would you like to form a party with me?" she asked, pulling his hand toward her chest.

Nagisa felt her heartbeat, looked away in embarrassment, and replied with a shy "yes."

The healer was delighted by his answer and began running toward the town gate while holding Nagisa's hand.

Watching her, Nagisa smiled and thought, "I'm really in another world now."

...

As the two made their way toward the Gate, she turned back and introduced herself.

"Ahh! I forgot again, sorry for the late introduction, but my name is Elaine."

Nagisa looked at her and smiled back, only to her, making sure not to anger her, and said. "Me too, my name is Nagisa." The two only looked at each other and smiled as they neared the gate.

"Hold it you two, please show your identification card." The man at the gate said, stopping the two from moving forward.

Elaine quickly pulled out a chain from her pocket with multiple IDs from the adventurer guild, the Church of Light, and her hometown.

Seeing hers, the guard let her in and asked Nagisa.

Nagisa looked at his status and spotted the [Item box] skill and summoned it.

There in front of the three, a box opened in the air, surprising the two over.

Finally, Nagisa grabbed the identification card, allowing him to enter the town.

"Hmm, not bad for a main character," said the mushroom-headed god as he observed Nagisa navigating his life in this world.

"So this is one of the pitiful souls this time?" another voice chimed in from behind him.

"God of Sword, it's nice to see you again after all these years," the mushroom god replied.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever you say, God of Tricks," the God of Sword responded, unimpressed.

"Ho ho, that's a bit rude, don't you think?"

The God of Sword merely rolled his eyes and asked, "Where's the other one? Shouldn't they be here by now?"

"Don't worry," the God of Tricks said, creating a couch for them to sit on. "It's still early, so they won't miss much. Besides, unlike the last time, I made sure to send them at different intervals so we can watch over them more closely."

"Is that so? Then you're already doing better than she did," the God of Sword remarked.

---

As the two observed, Nagisa made his way to the Adventurer's Guild and officially became a member. Suddenly, he received a notification from the system.

[Stamina, strength, and mana have increased.]

"What's this?" Nagisa exclaimed, surprised by the sudden boost in his stats despite not having done anything.

Unbeknownst to him and the others, they were being watched by the gods of this world, who would grant various rewards for each significant feat and achievement they accomplished.

This exhibition was a form of entertainment for the gods that occurred every 200 years.

It wasn't merely about their amusement; it was also a chance to give those destined for a tragic death a second chance at life.
