Morning sunlight filters through the wide windows of the family dining room. The table is set neatly: toast, eggs, fruit, coffee. The quiet clinking of cutlery fills the room.
Ami sits in her usual seat, posture calm, eating diligently. Maxim is at the head of the table, reading the paper, his coffee steaming beside him. Celeste quietly stirs sugar into her tea. Aron scrolls through files on his tablet.
The door opens.
Alia walks in, her face twisted with irritation. Her hair is slightly disheveled, her movements sharp. She doesn't greet anyone-her eyes immediately find Ami, sitting neatly at the table.
Her temper snaps.
Alia (snarling):
"What is she doing here? This isn't her place. I don't want her sitting here. Get her out!"
Everyone looks up. Silence falls.
Maxim (lowering his paper, voice heavy):
"Alia-"
Aron (frowning, irritated):
"What the hell is wrong with you this morning?"
Alia marches closer, glaring at Ami.
Alia (furious, pointing at Ami's plate):
"She's eating like she owns this place! Get up, Ami! This isn't your spot-you don't get to sit here!"
Ami sets her fork down gently. She doesn't look at Alia, only at the others. Her voice is calm, steady.
Ami (soft but deliberate):
"Do you see what I mean? This is exactly why something needs to be done. Alia's behavior is spiraling. She doesn't sound rational anymore."
Alia's face twists.
Alia (hissing):
"You little snake-don't twist this!"
But Ami continues, cutting her off smoothly.
Ami (addressing Maxim and Aron, ignoring Alia completely):
"I think it's time we stop ignoring this. We should consider admitting her to a psychology center. Her addiction is eating her alive. Her behavior is worsening every day."
The room freezes.
Her words hang heavy in the room.
Maxim blinks, considering them. His gaze flickers to Alia, then back to Ami.
Maxim (measured, thoughtful):
"…Yes,Perhaps Ami has a point.Perhaps we should arrange for her to be placed in the hospital. The psychology department-the thirteenth floor should work."
Alia freezes, eyes wide.
Alia (stammering, then shouting):
"What?! No! You can't be serious! You think I'm crazy?!"
She swings toward Aron, desperate.
Alia:
"Aron-tell them! You know I'm not insane!"
But Aron doesn't look moved. He sets his tablet down, adjusting his sleeves.
Aron (calm, cold):
"I'll handle the paperwork, Father. If it helps the family, then so be it."
Alia's voice cracks.
Alia (pleading):
"Aron, don't do this to me! You saw what happened last night-she's the one who humiliated me! She's turning you all against me!"
Aron (cutting her off, voice like steel):
"What I saw last night was you losing control in front of everyone. Ami didn't ruin your birthday, Alia...you did."
Alia's chest heaves, rage and disbelief flooding her face. She whirls toward Celeste, her last hope.
Alia (desperate):
"Mother! Say something! You know I don't need a hospital!"
Celeste lifts her teacup slowly, her voice calm but firm.
Celeste (cool, dismissive):
"Your father knows what is best for you, Alia. If he says you need treatment, then you do. No more arguments."
Alia's hands tremble.
Alia (shouting, losing control):
"You're all insane! You're letting her, this fake little angel-poison you against me!"
She slams her hands on the table, rattling silverware.
Maxim's voice cuts through like a whip.
Maxim (sharp, commanding):
"Enough, Alia!"
The room goes dead silent.
Alia's breath hitches. For a moment, she looks like she might scream again, but under her father's gaze she falters. Her pride crumbles.
With a strangled noise of frustration, she storms out, the door slamming behind her, footsteps echoing down the hall.
The table falls quiet again.
Aron exhales through his nose, muttering under his breath.
Aron (to himself):
"Pathetic…"
Celeste sips her tea as if nothing happened. Maxim folds his paper and sets it aside.
Ami picks up her fork, continuing her breakfast with serene composure.
Ami's POV (inward, with the faintest smile):
One thorn has finally been removed from my path. Alia won't be standing in my way anymore.
By the time Ami reaches school, the air feels different. The corridors buzz like a hive-students in clusters, heads bent over their phones. Screens flash with pictures and clips from last night's party.
Everywhere she walks, eyes turn. Whispers trail behind her like perfume.
Girl #1 (wide-eyed, rushing over):
"Ami! Oh my god-was that you last night?! I didn't know you were hiding a diva inside you!"
Ami laughs softly, brushing a strand of hair back.
Gasps and giggles ripple around.
Across the hallway, a group of boys glance up from their phones.
Boy #1 (nudging his friend):
"Dude, look, this clip's already trending. The way Ami walked up with that gift? Straight-up queen energy."
Boy #2 (grinning):
"She made Alia look like a spoiled brat in front of everyone. Instant legend."
The laughter echoes, making Ami's lips curve into a faint, amused smile.
Soon her own group gathers around her. Dylan, Soha, Sneha, and Saad-each one glowing after their spotlight the previous night.
Soha (grinning as she shows her phone):
"Look at this-someone made an edit of us arriving at the party. With slow motion. And dramatic music."
Dylan (mock serious):
"Of course they did. We looked like we stepped out of a movie."
Sneha (snorting):
"Correction: I looked like I stepped out of a movie. The rest of you were my background dancers."
Saad (rolling his eyes):
"Keep dreaming, drama queen."
Their banter draws laughs from the crowd gathering nearby.
Then someone from another group calls out.
Student (teasing, but impressed):
"Silver Dust! Hey, Silver Dust!"
The five exchange confused looks.
Ami (raising a brow):
"Silver Dust?"
Girl #2 (smiling shyly):
"That's what people are calling you guys now. After last night-you were all glowing, like… untouchable. Silver Dust fits."
Sneha nearly spits her drink.
Sneha:
"Oh my god-we have a fan club name already? This is ridiculous."
Soha ( laughing):
"I kind of like it…"
Dylan (grinning):
"Face it, Ami. You didn't just win last night. You launched a movement."
Within minutes, a small crowd gathers.
Girl #3 (approaching nervously):
"Um… Ami? Can we take a picture with you guys? Just-Silver Dust together?"
Ami blinks, surprised.
Ami (smiling politely):
"…Sure."
They pose. Flash. Laughter. And just like that, more students line up, like it's a meet-and-greet.
Sneha (muttering under her breath):
"We're celebrities now? What is happening…"
Saad (grinning, teasing):
"Just smile, diva. You've been waiting for this your whole life."
Sneha (swatting his arm):
"Shut up."
Meanwhile, from the other side of the corner, whispers grow louder.
Random Boy:
"Did you notice? Alia didn't show up to school today."
Random Girl:
"Yeah… after last night, she probably couldn't face anyone. Everyone's making memes already."
Another Student:
"She screamed at her own birthday guests… can you imagine?"
The crowd laughs, but Ami keeps her expression serene.
Ami's POV (quiet, thoughtful):
They're all talking about her. But eventually, they'll forget her mistakes. I can't let myself get distracted by this noise. My path is different.
Still, when Soha gently rests her hand on Ami's arm, smiling warmly, Ami allows herself a tiny laugh.
"Silver Dust" isn't just a name anymore. It feels like the beginning of something.
