Chapter 4 - Chapter 4:Lighting up San Siro

I messed up in the crotone game it wasn't a home game they were playing away so this is the first home game.

Matchday 2 – AC Milan vs Cagliari – August 27, 2017

San Siro buzzed under the floodlights as Milan walked out for warmups. The Curva Sud was in full voice, banners waving, drums pounding like a heartbeat. Milan Martinez Villa, in just his second Serie A appearance, felt the electricity surge through him.

Vincenzo Montella gathered the team in the dressing room, voice calm but firm:

"Cagliari press hard in midfield. They crowd the wide channels—watch that. But they leave gaps between their central defenders. Milan, you see that space. When you're on—pose questions. Pressure them, unsettle their shape."

He wasn't starting, and he was fine with that. Coach Montella was playing it smart. Suso, Bonaventura, and Kalinić led the attack. Milan sat on the bench next to Cutrone, bouncing his leg, absorbing the moment.

"You think you'll get minutes tonight?" Cutrone asked, stretching.

"I hope so," Milan replied, eyes locked on the pitch. "I'm ready."

The whistle blew. The game kicked off.

Cagliari were no pushovers. João Pedro danced through midfield, and Leonardo Pavoletti was constantly threatening in the air. AC Milan had their hands full. Biglia and Kessié battled hard, while Romagnoli and Musacchio held the backline firm.

Halftime came. Score: 1–1.

Montella glanced down the bench. "Milan, warm up."

The crowd noticed immediately. The stadium erupted with murmurs and camera flashes.

"Number 72 is getting ready! The youngster everyone's talking about!" shouted the familiar voice of DAZN's Italian commentator Pierluigi Pardo.

Milan entered in the 60th minute, replacing Borini. Almost instantly, the tempo changed.

In the 67th minute, Milan picked up the ball on the left wing. A quick stepover. A burst of acceleration. He skipped past Faragò, then nutmegged Ceppitelli.

The fans roared.

He squared it to Kalinić with precision. One touch. Goal.

2–1 AC Milan.

The San Siro exploded.

"Bellissimo!" Pardo shouted. "The kid's done it again! Another assist from Martinez Villa, the Boy Wonder!"

Twitter was on fire.

> @GoalItalia: "Milan Martinez Villa with another assist. Two games. Three goal contributions. Passing accuracy 92%."

> @FabrizioRomano: "The 16-year-old is special. Quick feet, calm mind. AC Milan might have a diamond."

By the 83rd minute, Milan wasn't done.

He received a lobbed pass from Calhanoglu, flicked it behind his back to beat Dessena, cut in, and curled one into the top corner.

3–1.

The San Siro erupted again.

Milan slid on his knees in front of the Curva Sud. Fans were screaming his name.

Commentary boomed: "Boy Wonder! Boy Wonder! This kid is unreal!"

Back in the locker room, the team mobbed him. Even Bonucci gave him a rare grin. "I don't know what you are, ragazzo... but keep doing it."

Suso handed him his phone. "Check this."

Instagram. Milan's latest post—just a shot of him warming up—had 300k likes already. The comments kept flying in:

> @king_of_milano: "What am I watching?? A generational baller, that's what."

> @rossoneroholic: "Phantom? Nah. He's a storm. You blink and he's gone."

> @italianfootballcentral: "At 16, he's already better than half the league."

> @cagliarifan89: "We couldn't stop him. He's too quick, too smooth. Respect."

The notifications were endless. Some fans were already photoshopping him onto Ballon d'Or graphics. One even dubbed him "San Siro's Mirage."

Milan chuckled.

The door to the locker room opened. Montella walked in, clapping slowly.
