Chapter 34 - The Blind Prince of Frostgard

Far away from Crystalden and Redmere stood a powerful kingdom called Frostgard.

It was a kingdom of ice and snow.

Huge walls surrounded the city, and thick ice covered the towers of the royal palace. The people of Frostgard were known for their strength, and the warriors who served the kingdom were feared by many.

Frostgard was not like Crystalden or Redmere.

In fact, the Queen and her followers were stronger than both villages combined.

At the center of the kingdom stood the great palace of the Ice Queen.

Her name was Queen Vaelora.

She was a powerful woman who could control ice with ease. Her knights and followers were also strong, and many powerful beings avoided causing trouble in her kingdom.

But there was someone inside the palace who was very different from everyone else.

His name was Auren.

Auren was about twenty years old.

He had been blind since birth.

Yet he never allowed his blindness to stop him.

The Queen and her followers had taken care of him since he was a baby. They raised him inside the palace, protected him, and treated him like family.

Because of this, many people believed Auren was the Queen's son.

Auren was quiet, respectful, and well behaved.

But there was something about him that made him different.

He could see.

Not with his eyes.

With his spirit magic, which happens to

be a rare ability.

It was as if he could see even further

Than people who had eyes.

Auren possessed a very rare ability called Spirit magic.

He could feel spirits.

The presence of many living and non living things.

If someone is holding an object and

claims it's a magical object he will see the aura.

He could sense souls.

He could feel the life around him.

When he was a child, he struggled with

his blindness. He often wondered why

he had to be different from everyone else.

But he refused to give up.

With years of training, meditation, and treatment, he slowly learned how to use his ability.

Eventually, he discovered something amazing.

Everything was connected.

People.

Animals.

Trees.

Water.

Even the air carried traces of life.

Auren could sense these connections.

He could walk through a room without seeing it with his eyes because of the help of his ability which made him see things in a different way.

He could see people approaching before they spoke.

Due to his training, He had a huge domain which spread that people could see.

His domain stretch wide the ice kingdom even twice the area.

He could even feel changes in the air when someone powerful entered the area.

Because of this, Auren saw the world differently from everyone else.

One afternoon, he sat at the highest part of the palace.

This was one of his favorite places.

From there, Queen Vaelora often came to look over the kingdom, watch her people, or simply enjoy the cold air.

Auren sat quietly.

His eyes were closed.

He was meditating.

Then suddenly...

His expression changed.

He felt something.

Something far away.

A strange presence had moved through the world.

Auren slowly opened his eyes.

He could not see the normal way.

But his Spirit Sight showed him something unusual.

He remained silent for a moment.

Then he turned toward one of the knights standing nearby.

"Please."

The knight immediately stepped closer.

"Yes, Lord Auren?"

"Tell my mother that I need to speak with her and the council."

The knight nodded.

"Should I ask her to come here?"

Auren smiled slightly.

"Tell her that if she prefers, I can go to her."

He paused.

"I don't want to be rude."

The knight bowed.

"Yes, sir."

He immediately turned and ran toward the palace.

When he reached the royal hall, the Queen and her followers already knew why he had come.

This was not the first time Auren had done this.

Since he was young, whenever he sensed something strange, he would send someone to call the Queen.

The knight bowed before her.

"Your Majesty."

Queen Vaelora looked at him.

"What happened?"

"Lord Auren wishes to speak with you and the council."

The Queen stood immediately.

"No need to bring him here."

She looked toward the palace doors.

"I will go to him."

The council members followed.

Something had caught Auren's attention.

And when Auren sensed something...

The Queen listened.

Far away from Frostgard...

Alexandra was still standing before the giant warrior.

The warrior was huge.

His body was covered in battle marks, and the large axe in his hand looked heavy enough to split a person in two.

There was no doubt about it.

He was an experienced warrior.

He had been placed there for one reason.

To stop anyone from passing through the village.

He looked down at Alexandra.

"Just because you're a girl doesn't mean I'll go easy on you."

Alexandra did not answer.

She was not even listening.

Her eyes remained fixed on him.

The warrior noticed.

He sighed.

"What an idiot."

Suddenly...

Alexandra moved.

She ran straight toward him.

The warrior's eyes widened.

"What is she doing?"

He quickly grabbed his huge axe.

The two edges were sharp.

He raised it high above his head.

"Don't blame me for this!"

He brought the axe down.

BOOM!

The axe struck Alexandra.

The warrior smiled.

Then his smile disappeared.

Nothing happened.

Alexandra was still standing.

Not a single wound.

Not even a scratch.

The warrior's eyes widened.

"What?"

He looked at his axe.

Then at Alexandra.

"How?"

Alexandra had used the sword on her back as a shield.

She had held it firmly with one hand.

The axe had struck the sword.

Yet Alexandra's body had not been harmed.

She continued moving toward him.

The warrior stepped backward.

"What kind of strength does she have that can stop my weapon?"

Alexandra said nothing.

She was now very close.

Then she reached out her hand.

The warrior suddenly felt something was wrong.

His heart began beating faster.

Sweat appeared on his forehead.

He quickly jumped backward.

He landed several meters away.

Alexandra stopped.

She looked at him with a surprised expression.

"Wow."

The warrior took a deep breath.

Alexandra smiled.

"And here I thought you would be too easy to handle."

The warrior's face became serious.

He looked at her carefully.

She's no ordinary girl.

He tightened his grip on his axe.

I don't know what will happen if she touches me.

His eyes narrowed.

I can't take this lightly anymore.

He raised his weapon.

This time, there was no smile on his face.

"I'm sorry."

Alexandra tilted her head.

"For what?"

The warrior took a strong fighting position.

"Because I'm going all out now."

Alexandra smiled.

"Good."

The wind suddenly became stronger.

The warrior rushed forward.

Alexandra moved at the same time.

And far away in Frostgard...

Auren suddenly stood up.

His face had become serious.

Queen Vaelora reached the top of the palace.

"Auren."

He turned toward her.

"Mother."

The Queen walked closer.

"What did you sense?"

Auren remained silent for a few seconds.

Then he spoke.

"I don't know what it is."

"But something powerful has moved."

"Where?"

Auren slowly turned his face toward the distant horizon.

His Spirit Sight reached farther than it ever had before.

Then his expression changed.

"I can feel..."

He paused.

"Two powerful beings."

Queen Vaelora became serious.

"Two?"

Auren nodded.

"And one of them..."

He suddenly stopped.

"What?"

Auren's face became pale.

"I don't know."

"But whatever she is..."

"She is not ordinary."
