Darkness had spent the whole night searching for Vanilla, according to how he had planned it, she should have gotten to the portal to the human world, and he would have gone himself to catch her, yet things didn't go according to how he had planned it. It was a first. The sound of crunching feet and heartbeat alerted him as Darren approached. "So?"

"She did not get to the portal, neither she nor the crippled human can be found… however…" Darren hesitated, making Darkness tilt his head.

"Speak."

"We found traces of movement towards the Cold Moon tower." Darren examined Darkness, though his face showed no emotion, his clenched jaw betrayed him. "Perhaps she got turned."

"No. No she didn't, neither is she a spy." He stated. His eyes Dark and unfathomable. "The pack is in your hands now, I will go bring her back."

"What? No!" Darren immediately refused. "This is the job for the pack warriors, not our Alpha."

"She will bear my child, not theirs. Protect the pack till I return, no one must know of my departure. It is about time I visited the cold Moon tower afterall."

"Darkness." This time, Darren spoke not as the beta of the pack, but as Darkness's only friend and confidant. He placed his hand on Darkness's shoulder, brows creased. "That human is only a vessel to carry your pup, you don't need to try too hard."

"Reya would kill you if she hears your words. Her womb carries your pup, and you worry for her." He removed Darren's hand. "Her womb will bear my pup, my worry does not lie on her, but what she can give me."

"You can always find someone else."

"No, only she can bear my heir." Darkness caressed the necklace in his hand, he had taken it off Vanilla earlier but the damn human didn't even notice. He had no time to waste with Darren, so he left the latter standing. Gaze cold as he thought of how he would push Vanilla when he found her. Different scenarios filled his mind, each ending up with Vanilla dead, however, he refused to worry or believe it. He had not even claimed her yet, neither had he gotten what he wanted from her, what right did she have to die?

The wind rustled after him as he ran, his speed enhanced due to his hybrid origin. Darkness had only slowed down earlier for Vanilla, no, he had slowed down so he could examine her. As he got nearer and nearer to the cold moon tower, he could smell her, Vanilla, just like her name, and that one legged human too. Darkness increased his pace, wanting to get it done before his work piled up.

He got the cold forest, her scent filled the whole place, Darkness raised a brow, the barrier allowed no one in or out of the cold moon valley except him, how did she end up there? He could smell the human too, but the human scent was faint, almost like he was no more. Darkness assed his surroundings. He could hear screams that sounded like hell itself, and the sound the demons made.

The barrier looked weaker than it did the last time he inspected it. The Guardian submit would be held soon to discuss what could be done further. Darkness could not find a lead except Vanilla's scent concentrated in one place. "Find her." He instructed Red, his wolf, Red had the power to find any creature wherever they were.

"I can sense her. But she is inside the valley, in a deep sleep." Darkness's jaw clenched.

"How deep."

"It's bad, she is close to the Moon tower itself." Vanilla was too close to the domain of the demons, she would either be consumed by the demonic energy there and lose her mind, or she would die. "She must be rescued now or it will be too late."

Darkness brought out a hidden black dagger, and made his way towards the valley, this time, he did not run, but his pace was fast and less laid back than before. "That damned woman, she wanted to escape me but she couldn't even read a map." He cursed, grip tight on the danger as he prepared for battle. The valley would be filled with a lot of low tier demons, those things were nuisances.

The further he went, the heavier and darker the air was, demon energy filed everywhere, and if he weren't half demon himself, Darkness would not be able to handle it. This was the only time his demon side felt like something great. Darkness could see red eyes, hundreds of them in the dark, and he knew he had a long battle before him. He pressed on the left hilt of the dagger, where a diamond piece reshaped the dagger into a long shinny sword.

The sword didn't just shine, it glowed, one cut from the sword could be enough to kill a low tier demon, even a little slice. He could hear and feel their fear and repulsion towards him. "Filthy Wolf, he dares to hold the goddesses sword against us when he is also one of us." The deep, sultry voice spoke from the shadows, this didn't bother Darkness however, all he wanted was his human, and he would leave. The time for war hadn't arrived yet.

The low tier demon followed behind him like a crowd of unlookers, wanting too but not daring to get close to him. It didn't take Darkness too long to reach Vanilla, the moment he saw her lying down peacefully on a bed of dark roses, her white hair and pale face, gave her off as a dark Angel, no, a fallen angel, a strange feeling of calmness washed over him, he bent down and caressed her cheek, her skin was still warm and she had no visible injury. "She seems fine to me ." Red commented as Darkness picked her up.

"How many are they?" He questioned Red. If Darkness were a low tier demon, he would use this chance to over power him, since he had to carry a human and perhaps protect her, this would be his weakness.

"More than a hundred, and I can hear more coming. She we split?"

"No, I can handle them."

"Well, if you say so, I have been quite bored watching you sit in an office all day, this fight should be interesting." Red cried dramatically. Darkness ignored his wolf's hyperbole, and focused his senses on protecting Vanilla and getting out of there unwounded. He carried her into the air, and wrapped shadows around her to protect her as he walked.

The demon's whispers got darker and nearer, Darkness' vein pulped with adrenaline, it had been a while since he got a good fight. He weighed his sword, delighted at how light and steady it felt in his hand. Demons rushed after him, each of them heading for Vanilla, the Shadows protected her, yet Darkness took no chances, his swords stabbed any demon that got in his way. Four rushed at him and once, his sword moved faster than lightning as he cut them down, and they burned and disintegrated.

More and more came, Darkness stabbed the one by his left, he picked one by the neck and crushed it despite its struggle, the one who tried to get to Vanilla was stabbed straight in the heart with a sickening crunch, then darkness took its head off it, ignoring the demon's scream. His senses remained concentrated as he blocked attacks and reciprocated, cutting, crushing, stabbing, beheading any demon that got in his way. Screams erupted everywhere his hand touched or his sword thrust.

Darkness fought for a very long time, while protecting Vanilla. He had gone to the Cold Moon Valley to get her, she had no right to get hurt, and no creature had the right to hurt her except him. A demon roared by his left, its claws making its way towards Darknessess, but Darkness blocked its attack, watching it as it tried to counterattack, but he punched it right in the windpipe and its mouth spurted out blood.

"Die." Another one screamed, Darkness gave it no opportunity to get to him, he took off his head, cutting it clean, the headless demon ran around for a long while till it burned completely. Despite his strength, the creatures kept coming, this irritated Darkness, he cut his hand with the sword, and smeared the blade of the sword with it, then he lifted the sword and hurried it in the ground, a bright light filed the surroundings, all the demons around a mile didn't even get to run before the burning light drowned out their screams of pain. "That ended quicker than I expected." Red whined.

"Demonic energy is dangerous to humans, stalking only makes things worse." Darkness took the sword out of the ground, pressed the diamond and returned the dagger to the hilt of his cloth, he released a stressed breath, then turned to a shadow by his left. "Give her to me." The creature did as asked with a bow. "Shield us." He commanded, and the shadows followed. Darkness felt less stressed when he carried her in his arms. As they got to the barrier, about to make their way out of the cold moon valley, Darkness smelled something strange, it smelled like death itself.

Then the sound of an arrow reached his ear, he had no time to react, the way the arrow was positioned, if he dodged, Vanilla would be shot in her head, if he didn't, his shoulder would be shot. However, his shadows still shielded them, he took his chance and enhanced the shadows power, however, the arrow pierced right through them and make its way straight for them. Darkness made his choice, he didn't move, the arrow pierced his left shoulder, it stayed stuck there for a while, then it dispersed into smoke, and the smoke entered his body.

Darkness let out a deep grunt of pain, his knees almost giving out, the arrow wasn't an ordinary arrow, he had just been poisoned with demon energy. This caused him slight unease. Who in the cold moon valley had such power to shoot an arrow filled with demon energy at him without being noticed earlier?
