Chapter 48 - Potions

After registering, Herag went to the Chat Tavern, which is similar to the forum in his previous life, where he could post and communicate. Google search "Thinking Rabbit 520" to read the latest chapters of the novel.

The bodies of McCann and Sonny have been found, and someone has posted a thread in the Chat Bar discussing it.

Some say they were killed by people from Green Lodge, some say they had an internal conflict, and some say there must be a third person involved.

However, this post soon fell into obscurity. The death of two first-class wizard apprentices in Moonlight Glade was a trivial matter, not even worth mentioning as a topic of conversation after dinner.

Herag took out the wind elf ring and input magic power to trigger the enchantment spell.

"Deep Blue, check my physical data."

"Herag Merlin: Strength 2, Agility 0 (+2), Constitution 0, Spirit 9, Magic 100%."

"It increases two points of agility. It's a very good ring." The numbers in brackets represent attributes that are externally added. Herag felt the lightness of his body, as if he could fly away with a jump.

"Deep Blue, how long can the wind elf's blessing last?" This was the first time Herag came into contact with a blessing spell.

"It is expected to last about half an hour." Shenlan replied.

Herag looked at the blessing and had some ideas in mind: "Maybe I can create more blessing spells, let Deep Blue optimize the magic power consumption, and then apply all the blessings and shields to myself during battle. The combat power should be considerable. However, blessings are always temporary. If the body can..."

A week later, Larry's Potions class began.

"Herag, come here for a moment."

As soon as Herag entered the classroom, Larry stopped him and waved to him.

Larry picked up a thick book called "Basic Potions" from the podium and said, "This is the textbook I used before. You can use it."

"Thank you, Mr. Larry!" Herag found a seat in the front row with a book in his hand and sat down.

There were twelve people in the classroom, most of them were first-class apprentices, and there were three second-class apprentices.

After Larry saw that most people had arrived, he began his lecture: "Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to my Potions class. First of all, please close your copies of 'Basics of Potions'. We will not cover anything in the book in our first class."

"In the first class, we will spend three hours talking about one thing."

He turned and wrote on the blackboard: "Experimental Specifications and Safety Standards."

After Larry finished writing, he turned around and pointed at the words on the blackboard and said, "Potions. These few words are the most important foundation. You can learn the properties and formulas of potions slowly, but the rules and standards must be ingrained. You must develop good experimental habits."

"There will always be wizards who don't pay attention to some basic requirements, including many official wizards. Once a potion experiment goes wrong, losing a life is a minor matter. Many potion experiments can cause large-scale disasters."

"Once, someone saw ordinary people starving to death, so he began researching a potion that could make cows grow from the ground. Guess what? The moment his potion was spilled on the ground, it directly opened a passage to another world. All living things within a thousand miles of the passage were wiped out. Two wizarding organizations persisted for thirty years, but at great cost, they finally sealed the passage."

"And the reason for this is simply that he didn't sterilize that damn test tube before mixing the potion!"

"He won't have a chance to correct his mistake, even if it's just a basic regulation."

An apprentice wizard raised his hand at this time: "Mr. Larry, can his potion really make cows grow from the ground?"

"Idiot! Of course not!"

"Hahaha!" A burst of laughter rang out in the classroom.

Larry clapped his hands, and the classroom fell silent.

He moved his fingers, and the pile of parchment on the table flew up and landed in front of each wizard apprentice one by one.

"These are the 168 experimental rules that everyone must memorize. Since you're just starting out, you must develop good experimental habits from the very beginning. Next, I'll explain each rule one by one, including the reasons for doing so. Many of these are lessons learned the hard way."

Larry held a parchment of rules in his hand and started explaining them from the first one.

Three hours passed quickly, and the 168 rules were just finished. It was obvious that Larry was very experienced.

"Potion experiment specifications and safety standards have been recorded." Deep Blue recorded everything throughout the process.

"Deep Blue, if there are any irregularities in my experiments in the future, remember to remind me in time." Herag instructed.

"The task has been filed."

Larry cleared the things on the table and said, "That's it for today. Today's class is the most important one. I don't want anyone who has taken my class to get hurt or even die from potion experiments."

Larry's introductory course on basic potions consisted of five lessons, which took two weeks to complete.

The first class is about experimental standards and specifications, followed by two principle classes and two experimental classes.

Herag listened carefully to every class. Deep Blue's assistance in learning ensured that he would not miss any knowledge points, and Deep Blue could correct any mistakes in time.

"One batch of the Dawn Potion's raw materials requires forty magic stones. Even with Deep Blue's assistance, my success rate won't be 100%. Calculating based on at least two batches of the ingredients, that's eighty magic stones."

Herag calculated the magic stones he needed to prepare to be promoted to a second-class wizard apprentice, and then looked at the five magic stones in his pocket. He instantly felt what poverty meant, and he still owed Larry ten magic stones.

"No wonder so many people are stuck at the first-class wizard apprentice level. Without a good background, it takes a long time to save up enough magic stones just to obtain potion resources."

"This is just the upgrade from first-class to second-class. The upgrade from second-class to third-class and promotion to official wizard will require a massive amount of resources..."

Hellagur was a little overwhelmed, the resources needed were beyond his imagination.

"We're going to Moonlight Forest to dig mushrooms tomorrow. It's July now, and dormant mushrooms only grow in the summer, so we have to seize this opportunity to earn more."

Herag calculated that according to the previous progress, he could earn five to six magic stones a day, and he could earn one hundred and fifty or sixty magic stones by digging mushrooms for a month, but this was only an ideal situation.

The next morning, he came to the entrance of Moonlight Forest again. Not far away, he arrived at the place where Macken was killed. Some traces could still be vaguely seen on the ground.

Few people came to the Moonlight Forest these days because McKen and Sonny died suddenly here, and other first-class wizard apprentices did not dare to come. Hellagur took this opportunity to dig sleeping mushrooms.

In three days, Hellagur dug up one hundred and seventy sleeping mushrooms.

Two days later, Hellagur discovered that there were fewer and fewer sleeping mushrooms, and it was difficult to find sleeping mushrooms outside the Moonlight Forest.

"Do we have to go deep into the Moonlight Forest..." Herag pondered this question.
