Chapter 44 - Flash

At the quest window in the affairs hall, Andrew watched Hellagur's departing back and muttered, "Are sleeping mushrooms so easy to dig these days? But besides him, no one else wants to complete the sleeping mushroom quest. Strange."

He took out the rune stone, clicked on McKen's chat box and asked, "I haven't seen you submitting sleeping mushrooms in a few days. How are you doing recently?"

McKen is an old hand at picking sleeping mushrooms. He often comes to Andrew to submit sleeping mushrooms in exchange for magic stones, so the two are quite familiar with each other.

"Stop talking about it. I haven't found where those damn sleeping mushrooms have gone in the past few days. I still haven't collected all ten of them." McKen complained with a frown.

"No way? Someone submitted a total of ninety dormant mushrooms to me recently. I thought it was so easy to dig them recently, which made me want to give it a try." Andrew said in surprise.

"Ninety? How is that possible!" McKen's first reaction was disbelief.

He has been digging for dormant mushrooms for some time, and he has never seen anyone dig so many.

Seeing that he didn't believe him, Andrew continued to reply, "Really? He's a first-class wizard apprentice who just joined the Glade not long ago. He submitted fifty Sleeping Mushrooms four days ago and another forty today. You often hang out in Moonlight Glade, maybe you know him."

"What's his name?" asked Macon.

"Herlag, do you know him?" Andrew said casually.

When McKen saw the name, he felt a sense of familiarity and unfamiliarity. He then slapped his thigh and said, "Isn't this the loner?"

"I was wondering why he didn't pay much attention to us. It seems like he has some special method to dig up dormant mushrooms. No wonder we have had so little harvest in the past few days. It seems they were all dug up by this guy." McKen felt depressed when he thought about his hard work in the past few days but had no harvest.

"There are eight magic stones in total now, which is enough for now. We need to convert them into immediate combat power."

Herag opened the runestone and contacted Larry: "Mr. Larry, how much are your ice shield and mana shield?"

He planned to learn all three shield spells and create a turtle shell tactic.

"These two are cheaper, both are two magic stones." Larry replied.

"I'm going to buy them all. Does Mr. Larry have any recommended attack-type spells?" asked Herag.

"You bought them all? Oh, yes, the Dark Energy Shield is indeed a little difficult for you. It would be nice to learn these two instead." Larry thought that Hellagur couldn't learn the Dark Energy Shield.

He continued to reply: "I have too many zero-level spells here, including offensive ones, control and auxiliary spells, and these are roughly what I have."

"Earth Spike, Bone Spike, Fireball, Frost Arrow, Ice Cone, Magical Perception, Blink, Stun, Earth Bind..."

Larry sent over a long list of names of zero-level spells, which dazzled Hellagur.

The first few were some common offensive spells, and many of the latter were spells that Herag had never heard of.

He asked, "Mr. Larry, what is the effect of the spell Magic Perception?"

"Magic perception can spread your magic power to a certain range around your body to form a circle. You can sense all movements within this range. The stronger your mental power, the larger the circle. It is a relatively practical spell with good actual combat effects. I also recommend that you learn this." Larry explained.

"The effect is good, but I have the more powerful Deep Blue, so this one seems a bit useless." Herag compared secretly. The range of Deep Blue has now reached 250 meters.

Magic power is often restricted, but Deep Blue's detection is difficult to restrict.

"What is the effect of the Flash spell?" Herag continued to look at the spells behind.

"This spell is also very good. It is one of the few space spells among the zero-level spells. It can teleport within a small space. However, this spell consumes a lot of mana. A first-class wizard apprentice like you may only be able to cast it once in a battle." Larry introduced.

Herag's eyes lit up: "This spell is good! It's very useful at the critical moment."

He then asked, "Mr. Larry, how much is the flash?"

"This one is a bit more expensive, three magic stones."

"Then take Flash, Ice Shield and Mana Shield, a total of seven magic stones, I want them all." Herag waved his hand, and only one magic stone was left on his body.

Larry jokingly said, "You're quite rich."

He didn't ask Hellagur where he got so many magic stones.

In Building 5, Area C, Hellagur was holding three thick books and a notebook.

The notes are for the spell Flash, Larry has no notes for the other two spells.

"These spells are enough for you to study for a long time." Larry said as he took a sip of coffee.

Herag held the book and said, "Well, I will study it seriously when I get back."

Larry suddenly remembered something, put down his coffee cup and said, "By the way, I'm going to start a potions course later. You can sign up and take a class. When you're promoted to a second-class apprentice, you'll also need to make the Dawn Potion."

"Dawn Potion?" Herag only had a brief understanding of it. He knew that the potion was needed to be promoted to a second-class apprentice after the mental strength reached the standard, but he did not know the details. He was still a long way from the promotion.

"The Dawn Potion can help you get promoted to a second-class apprentice. With your qualifications, it should be easy to get promoted with the Dawn Potion. However, you need to buy the raw materials and refine the Dawn Potion yourself, or entrust someone else to refine it after buying the materials." Larry explained.

"How much are the materials?" Herag asked.

"One batch costs about forty magic stones. If you entrust a formal wizard like me to refine it, you must prepare at least two batches of materials, and the handling fee starts at thirty magic stones. If you succeed on the first try, the materials will not be returned and will be considered as payment for the commission. Even if you fail twice, you cannot get the handling fee back. This is the rule."

Larry continued, "However, for a wizard, potion-making is fundamental. You will definitely need to master this skill in the future. You can't always commission others to make potions. Therefore, it's best to sign up for the upcoming potion courses."

Herag was holding the books, so it was difficult to salute, so he put them away with his interspatial ring. Then he thanked him, "I understand. Thank you for your guidance, Mr. Larry."

"Your space ring is pretty good. I didn't expect that a first-class wizard apprentice like you would have such a thing." Larry had noticed it before but didn't mention it, so he just said it casually now.

"This was given to me by a friend, Lillian from Augustus College," said Herag.

It was only after he arrived at Moonlight Glade that he realized that space rings were very rare even there and were very valuable, and ordinary wizard apprentices could not afford them.

"I owe you too many favors." Herag thought about it and realized that he had nothing to repay Lillian with now. He would wait and see later.
