Chapter 40 - Defense

"The data on the corrosive arrow has been entered.

"The Corrosive Arrow spell model has been analyzed."

"The Corrosive Arrow spell model construction plan has been completed."

After Herag waited for a few minutes, Deep Blue processed the information related to the Corrosive Arrow and was ready to start building the spell model.

"Deep Blue, begin constructing the Corrosive Arrow spell model."

"The mission has been created. Estimated remaining time is 20 minutes. Estimated mana consumption is 17%."

"Twenty minutes? The number of parameters and formulas for the Corrosive Arrow is almost twice that of Partial Petrification, but it takes five minutes less than constructing Partial Petrification. It seems that the lesson on spell modeling was really worth it." Herag analyzed.

In Herag's mind, Deep Blue was precisely controlling his mental power to construct the spell model of the Corrosive Arrow, calculating the parameters and formulas of each step at the speed of light, and the process was smooth and flowing.

Twenty minutes later.

"The Corrosive Arrow spell model has been completed."

"Remaining magic power: 83%."

Hellagur pulled a piece of firewood from the fireplace, placed it in the middle of the living room, and walked a few meters away.

He controlled his own magic power and input it into the Corrosive Arrow spell model in his mind.

A black energy arrow with some green in it appeared in front of him. It took shape very quickly. The deep blue statistics showed that it only took 12 seconds to complete the spell.

Hellagur controlled the corrosive arrow to fly out and hit the firewood in the living room.

The firewood was split into two pieces. Starting from the cross-section, black corrosive energy began to spread. The two pieces of firewood were covered by the corrosive energy in the blink of an eye, making a sizzling sound.

A pungent odor emanated from the wood. Herag approached and observed it. Bubbles were bubbling on the surface of the wood. The corrosive energy was highly corrosive and penetrated deep into the wood, quickly corroding the two sticks into rotten wood with numerous holes.

"The effect is good." Herag was quite satisfied with this corrosive arrow.

If a corrosive arrow hits a person, it will torture the person like a maggot in the tarsal bone and is very difficult to deal with.

"Remaining magic power: 77%."

Herag pondered, "Corrosive Arrow consumes 6% of your magic power per cast."

This spell does not have the same direct killing power as Fireball and Ice Cone, but it has the advantage of sustainable combat and high fault tolerance.

I can miss many times, but if you get hit once, I will be completely passive.

"But at the same time, I have no defense against other people's spells." Herag frowned. This was a problem that had to be solved as soon as possible.

He opened the rune stone and sent a message to Leo: "Besides the ice shield, can you get any other defensive spells?"

Herag waited for a moment, and Leo replied, "For now, I only have the Ice Shield. Post a quest to buy it or ask a formal wizard you know. They usually have more options.

"Okay, thank you."

"You're welcome."

Herag decided to ask Larry. If all else failed, he could only issue a task to purchase a defensive spell. The key point was that he didn't have much money on him now.

"Is Mr. Larry here? I want to buy a level zero defensive spell model. I wonder if you have a suitable one." Hellager said straight to the point.

There was no response for a long time after the message was sent, but Hellagur was not in a hurry. He poured a cup of coffee and continued to read the book about the Corrosive Arrow.

After waiting for a while, there was finally news from Larry.

"Yes, the ones that are suitable for you are Ice Shield, Mana Shield, and Dark Energy Shield."

"Ice Shield has strong defensive capabilities against physical attacks, but is relatively weak against many spells."

"Mana shield has a certain degree of defense against both physical and spells, and requires continuous consumption of mana."

"The Dark Energy Shield has strong defensive capabilities against both physical and magical attacks, but its weakness is that it is vulnerable to light-based attacks. However, light-based attack spells are rarely encountered."

After weighing the options for a while, Herag came up with an idea. He wanted to see Larry's opinion, so he asked, "Does Mr. Larry have any suggestions?"

"Considering your situation comprehensively, I would recommend Mana Shield and Dark Energy Shield. However, Dark Energy Shield is more difficult to learn, and it is a bit too advanced for you as a novice wizard apprentice, so you should go with Mana Shield." Larry replied.

"Thank you, Mr. Larry. I've decided... Dark Energy Shield. How much is this?"

"…"

Larry continued, "Three magic stones."

"I only have one magic stone and two hundred gold coins. Can I owe you one more?" Herag looked at his pocket and felt a little embarrassed.

"Okay, come to my house tomorrow. The location is Building 5, District C (Sivir alphabet) of the town." Larry agreed to Hellager's request for credit.

"Thank you, Mr. Larry!" Hellagur was really grateful to Larry. Although Larry seemed to be a no-entry person, he was actually quite nice to the wizard apprentices.

According to the actual market price, Larry still lost money, not to mention that he still owed a dollar.

Herag arrived in town early the next morning and found Building 5, Area C, according to the road signs.

He looked up at the seven-story Building No. 5 and thought to himself that wizards were treated so well.

Such a big building belongs to Larry alone.

There was a doorbell at the gate, and Hellagur pressed it gently.

The door opened not long after, but Hellagur saw no one.

"I'm here." A voice came from below.

Hellagur looked down and saw a goblin with green skin and tattered clothes.

"You must be Mr. Hellagur, right? I'll take you upstairs." The goblin said as he walked in front to lead the way.

"Okay, thank you." It was the first time Hellagur saw a humanoid species and he was a little curious.

The goblin muttered, "You're the first wizard to ever say thank you to me."

"..." Hellagur was speechless for a moment, not knowing how to reply to him.

The staircase in Larry's house spiraled upward. After Herag walked up the stairs and looked up, he saw that the interior space had at least a dozen floors, far more than the seven floors it looked from the outside.

The goblin brought Hellagur to the fourth floor, a place that looked like a laboratory, filled with plants grown in petri dishes and various specimens in jars.

Some shelves were filled with potions of various colors, none of which Hellagur could distinguish with his limited knowledge.

"Herag, you're here. Jamie, you go down." Larry came out with a test tube containing a yellow solution in his hand.

"Yes, master." The goblin bowed and saluted before hobbling away.

Herag watched him leave curiously. Larry smiled and said, "This is a house elf, very common. But Jamie is old and has even forgotten some of his elven magic. Now he is of no use and can only do cleaning."

The room was a bit too crowded, even the ground was covered with some unknown plants. The branches and leaves of the plants stretched out, leaving little space for standing on the ground.
