Chapter 6 - Chapter six: Summoning

In the original game, Heroic Spirits are powerful combat units. But in reality, their strength could be expanded far beyond that.

Among the Heroic Spirits in Type-Moon, most Heroic Spirits represent the pinnacle of human wisdom in some particular field.

For example, in the FGO mobile game plot, the wise king Gilgamesh once summoned heroic spirits to assist him. In Uruk, these Heroic Spirits didn't just act as fighters; they could also command and train soldiers.

In other words, in addition to direct combat capabilities, Heroic Spirits also have important support skills.

Before considering and choosing the servant he wanted to summon, Arthur first roughly divided Type-Moon's servants into two categories.

The first was the "combat" type.

These possessed top-tier individual strength, combat skills far surpassing those of humans, and even without using their Noble Phantasms could easily become a match for a thousand or even ten thousand troops. If they were famous generals or came from a military background, they could also command and train armies.

The second was the "support" type.

Compared to their individual strength, the most powerful aspect of this type of heroic spirit lies in their knowledge and wisdom, or some other superb skill.

At the same time, aside from a few Servants entirely unsuited for direct combat, most in this category still retained fighting capability, just somewhat weaker than the specialized combat types.

The camp's biggest threat right now is the monster that lives in the ruins. Normally, it would require a large army to defeat it, but with a Servant, it can be defeated alone.

Combat strength was indispensable, but at the same time, the ability to aid the settlement's development could not be overlooked.

Arthur still prefers the second type of servants who can play a supporting role.

If he also wanted the summoned Servant to maintain a certain level of combat power, then his best option would be to choose from the [Caster] class.

[Caster]'s position among the seven standard classes is relatively low, only above [Assassin].

However, this ranking only applies to the Holy Grail War.

The Holy Grail War was limited to a small battlefield of seven servants, and because most Servants possesses the skill [magic resistance], Caster's direct combat ability was relatively weak.

But that was only in terms of head-on combat. In a positional battle, or a fight with preparation, a Caster was in no way inferior to any other class, in fact, that was where they shone the most.

Back in his old world, there had been an online discussion about which Servant class was best to summon in a Holy Grail War. Arthur's answer was Caster, It doesn't matter which Servant it is, as long as he is a legitimate magician, just summon caster and then immediately leave fuyuki city.

By summoning Caster, even if you fail to win the Holy Grail War, you can at least get a guaranteed reward.

For a magus, knowledge is power. Being able to summon a famous magus from history is a valuable asset, even if you don't win the Holy Grail war. Gaining access to the magical knowledge and skills of your servant is a valuable asset.

What's more, most Casters can make mystic codes, so getting a few top-notch mystic codes is quite easy if you have the materials.

Of course, this was a rather small-minded approach. Most magi who participated in the Holy Grail War wouldn't make such a choice, after all, compared to the omnipotent wish-granting Holy Grail, such gains seemed like nothing.

But the Holy Grail is contaminated and cannot be used unless you have a way to purify it or you have a caster strong enough to purify it like Solomon, how high do you think your probability of summoning Solomon or any other magus strong enough to purify the holy grail is ?, close to zero !

If you transmigrate somehow to the fourth or fifth Holy Grail war, summoning [Caster] to obtain magical knowledge and mystic codes, and then voluntarily forfeiting is indeed the way with the lowest risk and the highest reward, if you know, you don't get killed by your servant.

Let's get back to the topic.

From the perspective of versatility, Arthur decided to summon a [Caster] class servant.

Then the next step is to choose which one.

This also needs to be considered from two aspects.

First of all, there are the summoning conditions. This heroic spirit must not have any harsh summoning conditions or prerequisite tasks.

Secondly, it must provide definite help to the development and production of the territory. In other words, it must be able to improve the productivity of the camp.

Arthur had thought of a few options that can be summoned with his [caster] class relic

After some thought, Arthur quickly settled for a target.

.........................................

 At midnight.

The town was dark. After a busy day, the people were resting. Only the soldiers were patrolling in and around the town.

Arthur did not fall asleep, but was dressed and standing in front of the altar of Valhalla.

The Valhalla altar was built next to the square, not far from the lord's mansion. Several guards stood behind Arthur, holding torches.

And Arthur was leaning over and carving something on the ground.

Next to him was a wooden barrel filled with sticky beast blood mixed with mineral powder to make paint.

After the Hall of valor was built, summoning Heroic Spirits required a specific ritual. The knowledge about the summoning ritual was also directly instilled into Arthur's mind by the system.

Arthur quickly completed the establishment of the summoning circle base, and a scarlet magical circle appeared in front of the altar of Valhalla.

And the relic is placed in the center of the magic circle.

Arthur slowly withdrew from the summoning circle. After he left, the air began to flow and a strong wind blew up.

It was impossible for such a strong air current to exist in this peaceful night. As the vortex spun, the dark red bloodstains of the magic circle carved on the ground began to glow.

A white mist floated in the center of the magic circle, and lightning flashed in the mist.

Arthur narrowed his eyes. It was his first time truly summoning a Heroic Spirit, he was filled with curiosity.

The guards behind him watched the lightning appear above the magic circle, their resolute faces filled with awe. In Roman mythology, one of the powers of the god Jupiter was lightning.

Lightning flashed, and when the light reached its brightest, it suddenly exploded, causing the empty square to echo with the sound of muffled thunder.

A system prompt voice came to Arthur's ears, which meant that the summoning was successful.

Arthur's lips curled up slightly. From the system prompt, he knew the name of the descending Heroic Spirit. It was exactly the one he wanted to summon.

The mist condensed on the summoning circle showed signs of dissipating, and the lines that constructed the summoning circle completely faded.

As the fog in the formation gradually dissipated, a tall figure in a white robe slowly revealed his face.

...................................

Early in the morning, in the lord's office, Arthur was writing a document when a maid knocked on the door and entered, announcing that a guest arrived to visit.

After the territory changed its situation and developed into a town, Arthur also recruited three maids to take care of his daily life, they make food and clean the mansion and receive guests when necessary.

Arthur put down the documents in his hand and looked at the young man in a white robe who was led in by the maid, it was the servant he summoned yesterday.

The young man in a white robe had long black hair that fell down along his shoulders; his face had a gentle expression and a strong intellectual scholarly vibe.

"Good day, Master Hohenheim." Arthur nodded slightly

Paracelsus von Hohenheim.

The legendary physician and alchemist, who is best known as a figure of the 16th-century Renaissance era, not only did he leave behind a large number of glorious deeds in the surface world, he was also a prominent figure with outstanding achievements in the field of magicraft in the mysterious side(magus).

This is the first Servant chosen by Arthur, and in his eyes, the most suitable Heroic Spirit for the current situation.

Hohenheim is the founder of modern elemental magicraft, He discovered the fifth element based on the four elements and successfully created it, the Philosopher's Stone.

He was also the founder of modern alchemy. He presided over the rediscovery of the three elements and pushed the originally stagnant alchemy to a new peak.

Putting aside the magicraft and mystery of the Type-Moon world, ancient alchemy is the prototype of chemistry.

If mathematics is the foundation of all science, then chemistry is the cornerstone of all material science.

Hohenheim has mastered this field of science, and the rarest thing is that his technology does not belong solely to the mysterious side, it can be used by ordinary people.

The human society in the Type-Moon world is divided into two realms, the surface world and the mysterious side, or the separation between magi and ordinary people can be compared to the difference between species.

Especially in modern times, magi generally consider themselves a species superior to ordinary humans, some magi may go as far as using them for retuals and experiments just look how jack's original master summoned her.

But in Type-Moon's history, Hohenheim is a heretic.

Although he is a magus, he does not only love his fellow magi, he regards all humans as his children and apprentices, he is kind and gentle with ordinary people .

At the risk of revealing the secret of magicraft and incurring the wrath of the mysterious side, being hunted down by them, he single-handedly promoted the development of chemistry and medicine in human civilization in the surface world and taught ordinary people knowledge that the mages association wouldn't have let come out.

The talents of ordinary orthodox magicians can only be reflected in promoting the progress of the mysterious side, but Hohenheim's talents are more extensive and can promote the development of the entire civilization.

From the perspective of civilization development, summoning Hohenheim is the best choice.

In addition to his support abilities, Hohenheim's combat strength is also not weak, he is actually quite strong.

He is the pinnacle of elemental magicraft and can even wield an aoe light torrent attack elemental sword with his bare hands.

The Elemental Sword essentially mimics the light of the stars, the light emanating from the Holy Sword of the Stars: Excalibur.

It once had a record of fighting against the real holy sword in the hands of proto Arthur. Although the result was a one-sided defeat, it was still extremely remarkable as a mystic code made after the end of the age of gods.

While Arthur was looking at Hohenheim, he also called up Hohenheim's panel.

.........................................

Looking at Hohenheim's panel, even though he had already seen it when he summoned him last night, Arthur still couldn't help but admire it in his heart.

It can only be said that he is worthy of being a hero engraved in human history. His stats are extremely high and his skills are also very strong. Putting aside his skills, his physical stats are far superior to those of ordinary Roman civilians even as a caster class servant he is still four times stronger than a person from the age of gods.

Moreover, as a magician, physical fitness is not Hohenheim's forte.

The newly added attribute [Magic] represents the basic quality of a magius.

As Arthur greeted Hohenheim and read his panel, Hohenheim bowed slightly in response.

"Good day, master."

Such a gentle and elegant appearance can indeed win the favor of others.

Arthur's attention shifted from Hohenheim's panel. He looked at Hohenheim and smiled.

"Master? You can just call me by my name. There's no need to be so polite."

"Have you had breakfast? How was your sleep last night?"

It was already late at night when Hohenheim was summoned last night. The two sides briefly got to know each other, and then Arthur arranged for Hohenheim to stay in the lord's mansion.

It is worth mentioning that Hohenheim's arrival was not in the form of a heroic spirit, but in the form of "incarnation".

In other words, normal rest and eating are necessary. It also means that if a Servant who comes to this world dies here, they can no longer be summoned to this world.

Servants are unique, and after death, no one can summon them again. This is quite consistent with the original game.
