Chapter 10 - Ready to go

"What the fuck was that...?" Jayden couldn't believe the dream he had. It was too real to be fake. "I'm literally shaking right now."

He tried to get up from the couch where he fell asleep for the entire night. But in that moment his body didn't listen to him at all. More precisely, he felt pain all over his body.

"Ouch! What the hell is this," he yelled as he couldn't believe his eyes.

The thought of what happened to be more than a dream but something that couldn't be explained in logical terms sent shivers through his body but the inexplicable evidence was there. His face hurt like hell, his arms and legs were sore and his abs barely listened to him. Besides the soreness, he felt unusual pain, like he got beaten up over and over again.

'I don't have any marks on me' he thought while inspecting his body.

He didn't know how long he sat there in silence, staring at the floor like it might disappear. If the dream was fake, why did his teeth still feel loose?"

His thoughts were interrupted as a loud knock resounded from his front door and just a second later, Marcus opened it directly and entered the house.

"What the hell kid, open a damn window, I'm too old to smell shit like this," Marcus put his hand on his nose.

"What the hell you're talking about, old man? And don't you have manners? If you knock, wait for someone to open the door before you enter," Jayden lashed back.

"Hmpf! Watch your mouth boy. I enter here when I want, whenever I want," Marcus said. "Put something on you. I'm going to make some coffee and I'll wait for you in the kitchen."

Several minutes later, after a quick shower, Jayden joined Marcus in the kitchen.

"So, I knew you were coming but not at 6AM. Can't sleep geezer? Is not recommended for your age," Jayden smirked at him.

"Hmpf! You're too young to lecture me, baby boy," Marcus replied nonchalantly.

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Jayden said.

"So? What's going to be, nephew?," Marcus tensed his voice as he asked Jayden.

The old man watched Jayden as he pondered his reply. It was at that moment that his nephew had a chance to go back and change everything. To go back and be himself again.

"Isn't that already decided?" Jayden asked him with a determined smile on his face. "We are leaving. The game will launch in 4 days so we need to make our move pretty quick."

Marcus was stunned. He kinda expected Jayden to finally want to leave but he expected that he would be a little bit scared or unwilling to go back after everything he went through. But the aura he had, the way he expressed himself, and the easiness with which he told his decision, it greatly surprised Marcus but at the same time it made him so happy.

Even though he wanted Jayden to leave, Marcus hoped for Jayden to leave as a strong man, someone who could handle rain and storms along the way, and at that moment, in Marcus' eyes, Jayden looked like that sort of a man.

"No worries nephew. Who do you think your grandfather is? I have everything prepared already," Marcus said after he recovered from the sudden shock.

"You're full of surprises, old man," Jayden laid back in his chair.

"Tsk! No shit Sherlock. Oh, and by the way, did you check your bank account? It seems that the money we've invested 7 years ago made babies, and lots of them," added Marcus.

"Money made babies, what kind of prehistoric joke is that even? Just say that we've made a profit while investing," Jayden berated him.

"Shut your mouth. You don't know what great comedy is," Marcus said.

"Sigh! Okay. So? When and where are we leaving?" Jayden asked, changing the subject.

"Tomorrow morning, the mayor will give us a ride to the nearest city, and from there, we fly to Stellaron MegaCity," Marcus said.

"Stellaron?" Jayden said glancing toward Marcus. "Why don't we go to Paxos and we go instead to the capital?

"Well, I thought about it and if we leave, at least to make it big. If you will dominate everyone in the game, oh, my bad. When you dominate everyone in the game, it will be much easier for us to operate from the capital," said Marcus.

Jayden looked at his grandpa, his thoughts flying far away. "I will say this once and only for this to be said. They will pay. Everyone will pay, so don't try to hold me back or away from them as this won't work, Grandpa."

Marcus stood from the chair, looking with a grave face at Jayden. "I don't ask you not to get revenge child. No one has the right to do it after everything you went through," he said. "I just hope that you won't be consumed by it, that's all. Other than that, if you need someone to step with you on their bodies, count on your grandpa. Hahaha" Marcus started to laugh holding his belly.

"That's nice to hear but I have one request I need your help before we leave," said Jayden.

"Hm? And what that would be?" Marcus asked back with curiosity.

"Is like this..."

...

"Haha, who would have thought that you still have a heart, you bastard," said Marcus as he started to walk towards the door. "I won't promise you anything but I'll do my best," Marcus said and then he closed the door after him.

Jayden stood still, his thoughts lingering through many things. The thing he experienced the past night started to fade as he had new things ahead of him. Preparations to leave.

"Time to pack things up," he said with a lighter mood.

Jayden started to go through each room, searching for important things he wanted to take with him. He didn't want to pack up a lot as mostly, he had only junk. With that in mind, he only packed several clothes, his old phone and some money.

"Ten minutes record, that's not too bad" he chuckled.

Knock!

"A small knock on the door brought his attention but when you talk with only two people in the past several years and one of them just left, he knew exactly who it was.
