Maximus Augilleris Steefan and his two companions walked towards the roadway again. They had just parted their ways with Melissa and Chuck and now were on their way to check the town ahead. Max was smiling ear to ear and hopping in joy.
Lin: I don't get it though...
Max stopped in his tracks, confused. He turned to look at the blue armoured warrior questioning him. Albert did the same too.
Lin: I mean...why are you sooo excited to go to the town..?
Max thought about it for a second. This was mostly because this was the first time he was on a beach. He had never seen the ocean other than the times he had seen videos or images of it. Breathing the salty air around them was exasperating in on itself. But there was another reason that he had, which Max understood when he thought about it.
Max: It's just that....ever since I woke up, I haven't met a lot of people....I've only seen duos or trios at a time. Only four of you were actual humans...come to think of it...the others I met were spirits, or monsters and also a robot.
This was right in Max's head. He hadn't met a lot of people for a while. A lot of humans hate interacting with a large group of people, but Max had the history of being an attention seeker. So much so that, now being unable to see any actual humans around him, made him feel extremely lonely.
Lin and Albert jjst nodded in unison as they walked to the road. They finally caught up to the road and Max immediately started jogging down the slope that led to the town.
Albert: Seriously...??
Lin: Oh come on..!!
Seeing Max suddenly run away, they were taken aback. They slowly started jogging and eventually caught up to him.
Albert: Now...why would you run??
Max: I just wanted to get over here as early as possible!!!
Lin: This guy is such high maintenance!!
Max stood in the middle of the town and gasped at it's marvelous sight. Beholding the amazing place, Max almost wanted to howl. Not only was the beach close but the town itself was colorful, filled with red, blue, purple and yellow on the walls. There were street lights, with with wires covered in colorful papers.
It was afternoon and there were so many people walking everywhere. Some participated in the games that was held in the corner and the others just were shopping.
Maximus realized that this was the beach stretch of the town, which was the most popular shopping area. He had heart that the shopping areas usually tend to be placed near the beaches in coastal areas. He was happy to see children, and older people all together, smiling and enjoying their lives.
The trio walked through the huge arch near the entrance of the marketplace, feasting on the sights everywhere. Lin and Albert were surprised mostly with Lin surprised on how huge it was, and the former surprised by the amount of footsteps he could sense.
Max walked faster, annoying the other two, as he noticed a huge lighthouse at the edge of the beach. This was the first time he was seeing one. He smiled again and walked faster instead of running, so as not to bump into random civilians. As he stepped in to the town through the arch, with the beach on his left and the shops on his right, something caught his eye, and he immediately stopped.
Lin who was jogging behind him at a slow pace, bumped into him as Max had suddenly stopped in his tracks.
Lin: What the...why did you halt now??
Max didn't say a word and kept staring at the ocean. Lin noticed that and he also turned to see the sky above the ocean filled with dark clouds. Max's eyes became stern again as he finally regained the reality of the world. Far away , in the middle of the ocean, he could see the really huge Tower, ascending to the dark sky. Max was pissed off again realizing that the Tower meant there were more Ameliorates.
Lin: There is a Tower here too...huh...
Lin turned to Max and realised that he was pissed.
Lin: Stop it! There are so many Towers everywhere, okay..?? You can't do anything anyway...
Max didn't stop looking at the Tower.
Max: But...what if I destroy that entire thing..? What if I just blast through it with my black hole??
Lin: Why don't you try it then..??
Lin was egging on Max to do something. Max was getting uneasy just by knowing that the Tower existed nearby. He didn't know what these Towers were for, but he knew it's the thing that separated him from his family. He knew monsters stay in the Towers, as he had seen one insanely strong looking guy with an axe, two days prior. Max just didn't wanna take chances. So he stepped forward ready to jump in the ocean to go to the Tower. But then a hand grabbed him.
Albert: Max....enough! Let's go...
Max: What...??
Albert: You were just thinking of destroying the Tower didn't you??
Max: Yeah...so what...??
Albert: Just don't even try for now...!! We are not strong enough. Let's not pick fights!! Look at the town..everyone seem happy and are living here peacefully. Don't you think they'd all leave if they felt unsafe...
Max: But...
Albert: Just for now...please.....forget this obsession you have with destroying..
Max lowered his head. Albert didn't really have any reason to stop him too...but he was terrified of the extremely angry Maximus. Max always lost his cool very easily, and trying to destroy the Tower was a declaration of war. And if that were ever to happen, the innocent people in the Town might get affected or injured. Or even worse...killed. Albert wasn't good at explaining stuff, so he tried to make it through with different words, although he failed.
Max: Yeahh ...You are right!!! Let's go find lunch!!!
Max said with an awkward smile, trying to act for the sake of others. He turned and walked away, with the two men in tow.
Behind a wall, an old woman was watching them. She smiled.
Old woman: Hehehehe.....the Silent Angel huh...??!!
