Chapter 3 - An unconventional situation

"Oh it looks like she's waking up bait"

"How many times do I have to tell you to stop calling me bait"

Nephis' eyelids fluttered open. She immediately noticed the ropes bounding her legs and hands. She wasted no time activating her aspect, letting the flames begin to burn away at them. That was until she heard a whisper in her ear. "I wouldn't do that if I was you." The black-haired boy was right behind her, her wooden training sword over her head, ready to be swung down. Still, that did not deter her as the ropes burnt away, and as she tried to jump away from the strike, the girl who was tied up was already in front of her, about to tackle her—well, would have tackled her if she wasn't on the wrong side and tackled the air. Using the opportunity, she ran to the forest. For now, she would have to abandon her sword, but she'll make sure that this humiliation won't stick. Though that's hard to say when, as soon as she took a step in, she fell into a makeshift pit. Though she couldn't really say it was a pit and more like a small dry patch of dirt scattered across deep mud. Her legs sunk into it, and as soon as she was able to get leverage, the black-haired boy was already upon her.

"How does it feel being bested by an outskirt rat, you dirty legacy mutt" She snarled, but she couldn't use her aspect. After all, it would most likely end up with his death. Though at the current moment, that didn't sound like that bad of a thing as he was about to swing down at her with a shit-eating grin painting his face.

"Now why don't we all calm down and handle this like civilized people, both of you." Cassie was sat next to the unlit campfire, though they should probably light it soon as night is approaching. Currently across from her was what she could only assume Sunny on top of the legacy she remembers as Nephis. "You're facing the wrong way again bait." She could feel her fists clench at his words, a forced smile adorning her face. Maybe she should help Nephis and turn him into the center where everyone who lost were. Turning around, she found her way to them, but before she could reach them the bickering started.

"Tell this rodent to get off of me" She heard a haughty laugh coming from the same direction.

"Look Cassie I'm using my aspect to—" as soon as those words spilt from his lips, everything went silent. Even Nephis stopped letting out quiet curses. At least he actually used her name this time..

"Look.. actually not look, you see... nevermind you just take over Cassie.."

He saw her shaking her head. He wasn't sure if it was out of disappointment or anger, though he didn't really care in the first place.

"I think the three of us should team up, after all dark is about to approach us from what he's told me. I'm already sure you haven't eaten yet, and we're not entirely sure what food sources they provide us here." She turned her head to him. Surprisingly she got it right. I guess he should just chalk it up to luck.

"You are a part of the wilderness survival class, right? Then you should be perfect for this." Turning her head down to Nephis, she crouched as she was still laid flat under him. "You're the strongest out of the three of us, but as you can see you were beat by the two of us teaming up. I'm assuming those left are much stronger than us since we've got to this stage by luck. After all, I'm a blind girl and he's from the outskirts." He wasn't sure if he should be offended or not, but he was nonetheless. Doesn't she know he's the strongest, smartest, and most handsome outskirt rat ever?

"So until the end, let's work together, and then when the three of us are left, we'll all go our separate ways and make it fair." He could hear the legacy mutt gritting her teeth under him, so prideful she was.

"First tell this rabid cur to release me." Cassie turned her head back up, looking at him, standing once more. He sighed before getting up and letting the shadows disperse. He still has to get used to that—after all, it was much different back then. Standing up, Nephis rubbed her wrists, a scowl on her face, before standing up straight, walking up, and putting her hand out to Cassie.

"Fine then, let's work together."
