Chapter 13 - Not A Skill Issue

After the alarm started ringing, Gray woke up groggily, peeking out the window to look for more zombies. Seeing three of them roaming around the highway, he decided to head out and get rid of them. After all, he didn't know if a few would attract more, so the sooner he got rid of them, the better. Seeing as they were a few feet apart, he decided to save the ammo and, at the same time, save himself the trouble of attracting more with the gunshots sound.

Swapping out the Axe for the gun from the inventory, he got to work, getting closer to the first one. He swung hard downward and split his head in 2, some blood getting on his shirt."This is so bad, once I'm on the road, I will try to avoid melee combat as much as possible," Gray said while frowning at the other 2 zombies that started making their way towards him.

Jogging towards the closest one to him, Gray swung the axe sideways, taking everything from the nose up from that zombie. Looking at the last one limping towards him, he didn't waste more time and finally got rid of it with another downward swing.

Finally, back at the house, he went upstairs to take a shower and get rid of his blood-stained clothes, "There goes a perfectly good shirt." Gray said while taking a well-deserved shower. Once out, he bought one more change of clothes before making his way to the dinner table to get some breakfast.

Noticing that it was almost 9 AM, he opted for an omelette with some white rice, setting him back 24 gold for his clothes and 11 for breakfast since he also had to buy a water bottle.

Gray went all out since he planned to clear every zombie on his way to the prison. Once he was done with that, he finally upgraded his inventory.

{Inventory Space} (100 Gold) Warning: Price doubles every time you buy this.

Gray bought 2 spaces for now. After his little shopping spree, he decided to try something, putting all his ammo and extra mags into his backpack. He closed it and put it in his inventory. After seeing that it did go into the inventory, he smiled.

Oh yeah, I fucking love this inventory, it will get expensive down the line, but now that I know I can cheat it like this? Easily one of the most busted abilities, what if I try to put one of them zombies into it, would it work since they're technically dead? I'll figure it out later with one of the dead ones, and later, when I get a chance, I will try with an "Alive" one.

Looking over at his remaining gold, he decided to leave it for now; no need to buy unnecessary things. Gold remaining after shopping spree 6274, next upgrade was at 30 thousand gold. I could probably wait for the next upgrade and then move, but judging by the zombie wanderers I keep finding around, it ain't worth it better to move than to get mauled to death stuck inside this house. After playing with his Game Boy for about 3 hours, he decided it was time to head on out.

After buying a second backpack, this time a bigger one, military grade, he put all his belongings inside both. After putting them away, he walked out of the house with a rifle in his hands now. Planning on never coming back, he left a note on the table telling whoever found the house to check on the bedroom upstairs, since he left a bunch of canned goods he didn't plan to take with him, since he was making enough gold now to not care about those things.

[Inventory]

{Fire Axe)

{Basic Backpack}

{Military Backpack}

Finally closing the backdoor but not locking it, he started making his way up north towards the prison, "Goodbye, bamboo spear, you served me well," Gray said while looking at the bamboo spear he "Planted" outside the house. With that out of the way, he started walking towards the first town, "Haralson."

While making his way over, he decided to take it slow since he was 3 hours away from finally getting his Earthroamer and his driving skills, since he felt he was gonna need that to drive the huge truck, "Seriously I barely got my license a few months before dying in my old world, I doubt I could drive that truck without the system helping me with these skills"

Good thing I bought those marksman skills, they came with some good knowledge. I would have bought that drum mag without knowing how much of a pain it is to refill them, extended mag all the way, baby!

After two hours, he finally arrived at the small town. Seriously, it barely had a few stores here and there, and that was it. Looking over at the few zombies around the street, he got to work, noticing that there were fewer than the last time he was here. He sighed in relief, "Yeah, didn't wanna spend all day clearing zombies. This is better." After around 30 minutes of clearing zombies and using both of the extended mags, he was finally done.

Looking around the town, it seemed looted enough. Since he was just passing by, he decided against clearing any of the buildings. Pulling one bag out of the inventory, he bought his first vehicle and probably the only one he will ever need.

{Earthroamer LTi} (20'000 Gold) ✔

{Intermediate Driving} (2000 Gold) ✔

"Whoa, I love it!" Gray said excitedly as he ran to the driver's side and hopped in. Thank god I had enough for the driving skill, otherwise I feel I would have crashed this thing.

Looking around the cab, he noticed a key fob sitting in the middle compartment. Taking it out and putting it in his pocket, he went to the backseat, noticing that the right backseat was missing. He saw a storage box instead. Neat, more storage space.

Finally figuring out how to open the trap door to the living space of the truck, he stepped in, everywhere he looked it exclaimed "Luxury", he checked out everything, and he even noticed the cameras working, finally, after checking everything out, he went back into the driving cabin and started driving, but not before checking the side door was locked, wouldn't want somebody just walking in.

After driving for a bit, he stopped to the side of the road and went back into the living space. Once there, he opened the HUD, looking at this remaining gold, a meager 262 thankfully, he had his house on wheels now, and with enough diesel for more than 700 miles of travel.

Looking over at his clock, he saw it was barely 3:25 PM. I should probably arrive at the prison before sundown if there isn't anything blocking the road, but I can just put the cars in my inventory and move them out. Having tested this theory as soon as he spawned the earthroamer, he was happy, as today he finally achieved one of his dreams. Having his own house.
