"you're here. when...how" I asked both with a surprise and confuse look on my face.
[Mike] "Yeah, I left Cal Woods a year ago to spend some time at my uncle's place. Not long after that, I got accepted into MIT and that's how I ended up here."
"One wouldn't miss this rager you know "
He left cal woods a year back , someone I thought I was hiding from not knowing I was hiding from a ghosting I was feeling so stupid already.
"Exactly right? Who would wanna miss this" I said
[Mike] "so how're you coping"
Coping"? Right, here comes the pity, I broke up with him with a lie that my dad had died, so I needed time for myself I even cried right in front of him so I guess that's where the coping comes from, he is still in the dark.
That was the only lie Casie and I could come up with, I mean who wouldn't.., for a dad that abandoned his wife and his child
Staring at Mike right now I began to wonder why I broke up with him, look at the guy, he's even more handsome than he was back in highschool. a tall masculine young man black hair falling to his face O.M.G maybe I was stupid for breaking up with him.
As if things couldn't get any worse the DJ suddenly changed the song to a slow R&B love song but lucky for me Mike was here at least he would ask me out for a dance or so I thought .
Everywhere was suddenly covered with a lustrous mood as everyone cling to his/her partner slow dancing to the rhythm. I took few seconds to scanned the whole environment it was beautiful. This was only outside the compound I could only wonder what was going on inside the house .
I turned, facing Mike and just before I could offer a word a girl interrupted.
"Baby" she said why wrapping her arms around Mike's neck
"Baby"? At the mention of that I wished right there that the ground had opened up and swallowed me., Here I was dreaming of a dance not knowing he was already taken I mean who was I kidding how will a handsome guy like this still be single
For once I wished Casie could appear out of nowhere to save me from this moment but she was nowhere around.
"Who"? The girl said with her hands now unwrapped from Mike's and now she was facing me
[Mike] " she's the one I told you about, Simone"
"Oh ....the Simone" she said and immediately at the mention of my name I noticed a hate glare from her.
"The Simone"? O.M.G I was screaming inside of me, now is the perfect time for the ground to open up.
"Hey Simone I'm Addison and nice to finally meet you she reached out and hugged me this was not a friendly hug as she tightened her arms around me squeezing me.
[Addison] "babe we should go inside"
[Mike] "oh right, see you around Simone "
"Yeah, see you around. I felt so embarrassed that I didn't even know when I reached for my phone and started dialing Casie
Casie showed up meeting me outside excitement was all over her it appears she was having fun inside, where she was.
[Casie] "hey gurl , what are you doing standing here the main deal is inside.
"I'm heading back to dorm" I said, and at the mention of that I noticed a surprise look written all over Casie's face.
[Casie] "what do you mean heading back, you're joking right?
"I'm not , I'm not feeling too well
[Casie] "gurl you know I ain't no stranger to this look, so the sooner you start spilling the better.
"He's here's
[Casie] "who is here'
"Mike "
[Casie] "Mike from Cal woods"? wow.., what a coincidence. now tell me what's wrong with you I'm missing out on what's going on inside already
It would be so stupid to say that I was feeling this way because of a guy I broke up with so I immediately wore a smile
"Nothing " everything is fine just that the party thing is new to me
[Casie] "then let's go.'
Casie dragged me inside the house everywhere was filled up just as expected, the air was fill with romance, kissing, and the rest, I was feeling uncomfortable already.
Casie dragged me inside a room filled with people all seated on the floor it appears they were playing games
[Casie] "everyone meet Simone, my best friend. Simone meet everyone
As I scanned through the faces there as if things couldn't get more worse behold seated among the minst of the people lies Mike and Addison. This night was clearly not my night first night at college and all this is happening, all at once.
Maybe this was the price I had to pay for lying I guess
Everyone was seated in circle Casie quickly joined them
[Casie] "hey gurl! come join us'
"I'm ....I'm good I'll just seat here and watch. I located the couch behind me and took a seat
Here I was, sitting quietly on the couch watching couples play games, daring each other to kiss strangers, laughing through rounds of Truth or Dare, while all I did was sit back and observe, saying nothing, doing nothing.
The party soon came to an end. Casie and Angel were clearly out of it, completely drunk, so I took them both back to the dorm. It was already 4:15 a.m., and with lectures starting at 9:00, I knew I needed to get at least a few hours of sleep.
I couldn't quite explain how I was feeling last night feeling jealous over a guy wasn't a natural feeling for me, it was new, I never knew that seeing the boy I pushed away back then could make me feel this way, it was so weird.
And here I thought I came to get A degree in Business Management but somehow I couldn't even manage my own feelings
