"Interesting," Gemgem noted in my head. "They're not defying you, they just want to join the action."
"That ambition you stoked in them? Now you have to deal with it. How you handle this sets the tone for your little harem, host."
"I want to give Homura more confidence fighting in a team," I typed back, "so I paired her with Aoi. Simple as that."
I paused, a grin spreading across my face as I sent the next message. "But if you two want action and team unity so badly 😏… we can have a three-way fight in my bed when I get back, Miki, Akane."
The tension in the chat vanished, replaced by a fresh wave of chaos.
Dark Heart Princess 🖤: Oh! To build Homura-chan's confidence! Of course, Master, that makes perfect sense! You're so thoughtful! 🥺
Dark Heart Princess 🖤: ...And a… a fight in bed? With you and Akane-chan? Master, you're going to make me blush! 🥰 I promise I'll fight fair… mostly. 😉 See you when you get back!
Dark Ruby 💥: Ohhhhh, I get it! Training for the new girl! Okay, that makes sense!
Dark Ruby 💥: AND A THREE-WAY BATTLE ROYALE IN BED?! HELL YEAH! THAT'S WAY BETTER THAN PUNCHING SOME DUMB ROBOT! I'M GONNA WIN! YOU'RE GOING DOWN, MIKI! 😈🔥
Aoi Tanaka: Your reasoning is sound, Master. We will ensure Homura is comfortable and effective in her role.
Homura: ...You're doing this... for me? Thank you, Master. I won't disappoint you or Aoi.
Conflict resolved. A perfect mix of sound leadership and lewd bribery.
"Well, that's one way to manage your team," Gemgem hummed. "Unconventional, but it worked. You shut them up, reminded them who's boss, and gave them a powerful motivator."
"The mission is a go. And your little debriefing is noted. All pieces are in place. Prepare for tonight."
That night, I was met with a surprise. I expected Aoi and Homura, but all four of them were waiting for me outside my apartment building.
"This is a mission, not a field trip!" I said, facepalming. I shook my head and sighed, then tossed Miki the key to my apartment. "Go with Akane to my room to play and wait for us. Don't do anything weird."
Miki giggled as she caught the key. "Of course, Master! We'll just... keep the bed warm for you. Don't take too long!"
"Yeah, don't keep us waiting!" Akane added with a grin, cracking her knuckles. "We've got a championship match to prepare for! Good luck, you two!"
The two of them bounded up the stairs and let themselves in, their excited chatter fading as the door clicked shut.
I turned and took Aoi's and Homura's hands, and we started walking. "Let's talk on the way."
Aoi accepted my hand with her usual cool composure, but Homura flinched, her hand small and cold in mine.
She was nervous. This was her first real mission with a team. We walked through the quiet night streets, heading for the corporate district.
"Master, I've gone over the data center's blueprints and the mech's likely route," Aoi said, all business. "He's arrogant, so he'll probably go for a direct attack. The main plaza is the most likely spot."
"What… what should I do, Master?" Homura asked, her voice a quiet murmur. She looked up at me, her eyes wide with fear and a desperate desire not to fail.
I leaned in, kissed her forehead to calm her down. "Come on, where's that cocky attitude from when you almost solo'd our whole team?"
"I know you two can win this. I heard a rumor you once took out a criminal and half a city block with him, Homura. This guy should be just a small fry." I pinched Homura's cheeks.
"The goal isn't just to win. The goal tonight is to win without any collateral damage. Aoi's here to keep you in check."
Homura flinched at the kiss, a deep blush rising on her pinched cheeks. "I… I don't want to be that person anymore, Master," she said, her shoulders slumping.
"That power… it was lonely and terrifying. I don't want to destroy things by accident."
Her confession was quiet but firm. My new goal, victory without destruction, seemed to give her a new focus: controlling her raw power.
Aoi listened, her expression thoughtful. "A precision strike. An excellent objective, Master. It's a good test of our coordination. My Void Eater can absorb any stray blasts."
"Homura, don't worry about losing control. I've got your back."
Aoi's calm confidence seemed to help Homura more than my teasing ever could. She looked at her teammate, a flicker of gratitude in her eyes. "…I understand. Control. I'll focus."
We arrived at the plaza in front of the massive, glittering tower of the tech corporation. It was a wide, open space with fountains and sculptures, all still and silent in the dark.
"The target, Doctor Overdrive, is approaching," Gemgem announced in my mind. "His energy signature is crude and obvious. He is two blocks away and closing fast. Get yourself ready!"
Just then, a loud, metallic stomping echoed down the street, growing closer. A series of explosions rocked a nearby block as car alarms started to blare. He was making an entrance.
"He's here," Aoi said. "Time to work." She and Homura exchanged a determined look.
They closed their eyes, and in a flash of swirling light, they transformed. Aoi into a vision of indigo shadow, Homura a cascade of bruised purple and dark silver starlight. The Fallen Stars were ready.
I gave them both a quick hug and a kiss. "My tentacles are useless against a robot, and I'm not showing my face, so it's all you two."
I turned to Aoi. "And Aoi… I may be the leader, but you're the team's strategist. Lead Homura tonight. Think of it as practice for leading the whole team."
I smirked. "Don't be nervous. But if you screw up, I'll spank you in front of your sister."
