Zhang Ming was puzzled. What did Tang Tianyu mean by repeating the word "blood"?
He glanced outside the ward door. It was empty, deserted, desolate and quiet, with only a few dim lights flickering.
Everything seemed normal. There was no blood, no other strange sight.
Zhang Ming was puzzled. "Tang Tianyu, what are you talking about? Where's the blood?"
Unexpectedly, upon hearing Zhang Ming's words, the word "blood," Tang Tianyu suddenly woke up from a dream and went berserk. He suddenly leaped from the bed, severing the IV tube connecting him, distanced himself from Zhang Ming, and cowered in a corner of the ward, staring at Zhang Ming in terror.
Zhang Ming felt a thin layer of cold sweat trickle down his spine. Tang Tianyu looked at him with the same gaze as a ferocious, carnivorous beast. Was he truly so terrifying in his eyes?
What happened to him? Zhang Ming, still mindful of his responsibilities, softly addressed Tang Tianyu in the corner, "Tang Tianyu, calm down. Look carefully! I'm Zhang Ming! I'm here to take care of you!"
Tang Tianyu didn't answer, his body trembling as if he'd witnessed the most terrifying thing in the world.
The two of them remained in a stalemate for several minutes. Zhang Ming wanted to go out and call a doctor, but he was worried Tang Tianyu might get into another accident, which would have been undeniable.
When Tang Tianyu saw that Zhang Ming didn't approach, he seemed emboldened. With a strange cry, he charged towards Zhang Ming with his massive body.
Zhang Ming, already frail and timid, dared not confront Tang Tianyu. He retreated in fear, taking several steps before steadying himself.
Tang Tianyu's original intention wasn't to attack Zhang Ming, but to use this opportunity to escape the ward.
By the time Zhang Ming realized what was happening, there was no sign of Tang Tianyu in the hospital corridor. He was originally a member of the school basketball team and had excellent physique. Even if Zhang Ming wanted to catch up, he couldn't.
Zhang Ming, heartbroken, hurriedly reported Tang Tianyu's sudden disappearance to the hospital.
The hospital staff searched everywhere for Tang Tianyu, but they couldn't find him until dawn.
The doctors couldn't understand why Tang Tianyu, who had only suffered minor injuries, had ended up like that.
Zhang Ming, helpless, could only tearfully describe the situation to the doctors and the medical school's leaders.
Meanwhile, Fang Yuan, Qin Yanping, Tao Bing'er, and Xu Zhaodi, four other girls from Room 441, had just left the dormitory. The dawn at Nanjiang Medical College arrived unusually late that day. It was already 7:30, and the sky was still gray. The sun was hidden in the clouds, showing no sign of coming out. The withered yellow leaves trembled in the cold autumn wind, making the medical school seem particularly desolate.
Four girls lined up, walking toward the Fifth Canteen, creating a stunning scene on the medical school campus. Qin Yanping's delicate demeanor, Tao Bing'er's lively presence, Xu Zhaodi's down-to-earth demeanor, and Fang Yuan's serene presence—four distinct personalities complemented each other beautifully, forming a vibrant, radiant portrait.
This scene became a lasting memory in Fang Yuan's mind, still recurring in her dreams years later.
The Fifth Canteen was not far from the girls' dormitory, at the other end of Moon Lake. As Fang Yuan and her friends walked across the stone bridge, someone suddenly chased them from behind, leaping in front of them and blocking their way.
The person who stopped them was Tang Tianyu, dressed in scanty clothing, with an IV tube still attached to a vein in his arm, looking utterly disheveled.
Tang Tianyu seemed to be searching for Fang Yuan. His eyes scanned the four girls one by one, finally stopping at Fang Yuan. He looked left, right, up, and down, repeatedly, like a child observing an animal at the zoo.
"Tang Tianyu, are you okay?" Fang Yuan asked, feeling a vague sense of unease. Tang Tianyu before her didn't seem quite right.
Yesterday, the girls in Dormitory 441 had been with her, reassuring her that everything was over. Yes, she had finally figured out that Cheng Li had committed suicide. However, the mystery only deepened. If Xu Yan had committed suicide to protect Wan Hai, what was Wan Hai's motive? She had no grudge against Wan Hai, so why would he murder her?
And then there were the unbelievable things happening in Dormitory 441: the ghostly figure she and Xu Zhaodi had seen, the old janitor's sudden illness, the gigantic rat, the mysterious black cat.
Yesterday afternoon, Fang Yuan skipped class and stayed alone in girls' dormitory 441. Teacher Qin Yue had come to see her, bringing a radiation meter. The two of them had measured every corner of the room and found no radiation.
She wanted to end it all, but Wan Hai's words before he jumped kept reminding her: This is just the beginning, and no one can escape fate.
Why did he say that?
No one implicated in Cheng Li's suicide had a good end. Xu Yan died, Li Rong died, and Wan Hai died too. Was this their fate?
And what about Tang Tianyu and herself?
Fang Yuan didn't dare to think about it, nor did she want to.
Originally, she still harbored illusions, believing Wan Hai's words were just a threat. She had asked Qin Yue, and she knew Tang Tianyu's injuries were merely minor, and given his physical condition, he would recover quickly. But the Tang Tianyu before her was far more than just a minor injury!
She just hoped that Tang Tianyu's trance was only temporary.
How could he not recognize her?
Thankfully, Tang Tianyu finally did.
He chuckled a few times, seeming delighted. "Fang Yuan, haha, you're Fang Yuan!"
Fang Yuan tried to control her uneasiness and forced a smile. "Yes, you recognized me! I'm Fang Yuan. Tang Tianyu, what's wrong?"
"I'm fine, Fang Yuan. I came here just to tell you. I saw..." At this point, Tang Tianyu seemed to lose his memory and struggled to recall.
"What did you see?" Fang Yuan asked softly. "It's okay. Take your time to think about it. Tell me when you remember, okay?"
Just then, Fang Yuan noticed Tao Bing'er winking at her. Several sturdy security guards had appeared beside Tao Bing'er. They surrounded Tang Tianyu and slowly approached.
Fang Yuan was suddenly startled. Were the security guards going to arrest Tang Tianyu? Thinking more carefully, looking at Tang Tianyu's clothing and expression, it was clear that he had escaped from the hospital. He was most likely mentally unstable!
"Tang Tianyu, have you figured it out? What did you see?" Fang Yuan frantically cried out. Tang Tianyu was the only person still alive who knew the truth, and what he was about to say might be the key.
Zhang Ming stepped out of the crowd. It turned out he had called the security guards. He suddenly interrupted, "Tang Tianyu, did you see blood?"
Tang Tianyu's face darkened at the mention of "blood." He suddenly screamed and tried to escape. The prepared security guards rushed over and, with immense effort, subdued the sturdy Tang Tianyu.
Although Tang Tianyu couldn't move his hands or feet, he was laughing wildly. After his laughter died down, he searched for Fang Yuan and muttered mysteriously to her, "Everyone will die—no one can escape—everyone will die—no one can escape—"
Tang Tianyu spoke with a smug air. Could it be that he had come to Fang Yuan just to say this?
A chill surged from her heart, quickly spreading throughout her body. Fang Yuan felt as if she had fallen into an ice cellar, shivering with cold.
Wan Hai was dead! Tang Tianyu had gone mad! Both men uttered a final curse, cursing themselves?
Everyone will die, no one can escape! This was just the beginning; no one could escape fate!
These two words, like sharp nails, pierced her ears. Wan Hai and Tang Tianyu's faces grew hideous, floating before her eyes, intertwining and sneering cruelly at her!
