It was sundown.
Lara sat by the window, her eyes on the soft gold sunlight falling on the trees. She hadn't moved for a while. Her plate on the table was still full.
She heard footsteps.
The door opened, and the maid entered. The same girl who had been serving her since she arrived.
The maid tossed the tray down with a loud clatter.
"Eat," she said, folding her arms.
Lara didn't move.
The maid stepped closer with a cruel smile.
"What? Not hungry? Or are you too 'royal' now to eat what we bring you?"
"You expect me to eat food you spit in?"
The girl scoffed. "So you'll starve? Fine. Makes my work easier. Remember this..." she leaned close "...you're nothing here."
Before Lara could respond, footsteps echoed from the hallway.
The lock clicked and the door swung open.
A tall figure stood in the doorway, his chest rising and falling as if he had run all the way there.
"Get out," he said to the maid.
