S.H.I.E.L.D. Laboratory, Mirror Dimension
With Tony's test complete, the Avengers' anticipation for the serum skyrocketed.
Natasha didn't hesitate, striding to the injection chamber. "My turn." She lay down, blue serum flowing into her veins.
Seconds later—Whoosh!—Natasha vanished from the chamber!
"Where'd she go?" Hawkeye scanned the room, alert.
Her voice echoed from a corner. "To your left."
The team turned. Natasha's form shimmered into view, her right arm gleaming with liquid metal, fingers sprouting razor-sharp claws.
"Localized metallization and invisibility?" Tony raised a brow. "Fits your assassin vibe perfectly."
Natasha flexed her wrist, satisfied. "More practical than I expected."
Next was Hawkeye. As the serum took effect, he closed his eyes, sensing changes. Suddenly—Crackle!—blue-white lightning sparked from his fingertips, illuminating the lab's circuits.
"Shit!" Spider-Man dodged. "Mr. Barton, you're Thunder Hawkeye now?"
Hawkeye grinned at his electrified hands. "Guess my arrows just got a charge."
Banner, the team's rational anchor, hesitated but entered the chamber. Post-injection, his muscles sharpened. Boom! His form blurred, reappearing across the lab in a flash, leaving an afterimage.
"20 Mach instantaneous burst speed," James noted, checking the data panel. "Enough to dodge any ambush before Hulk emerges."
Banner adjusted his glasses. "I get Quicksilver's thrill now."
Logan, cigar in mouth, sprawled in the chamber. "Hurry up, Stark."
The serum fused with his X-gene, amplifying it. Crack! Crack! His bones snapped, muscles bulging, transforming him into a three-meter giant. His Adamantium claws extended like lances.
"Hah!" Logan roared, pounding his chest. "Now we're talking!"
Natasha, craning her neck at the giant Wolverine, quipped to Hawkeye, "Now I get why X-Mansion's repair bills are so high."
Hawkeye shrugged.
Finally, Spider-Man. At 21, still the team's youngest, Peter gulped nervously. "Uh, will I get something weird?"
Tony clapped his shoulder. "Relax, worst case, you shoot laser webs."
Peter lay down, serum injecting. Seconds later—Boom!—his body tensed, eyes glowing orange-red. "Hot!" He sat up, palms igniting in blazing flames.
The lab's temperature spiked, everyone stepping back. "Whoa!" Tony grinned. "Peter, you're Flame-Boy now?"
Peter stared at his hands, flames dancing harmlessly. He flicked his wrist—Whoosh!—a fire whip scorched the ground.
"This…!" Peter's excitement faded to worry. "But my webs are flammable!"
James pulled up holographic data. "Your bio-flames won't affect your webs. Relax."
Banner adjusted his glasses. "Theoretically, you can shoot burning webs now."
Natasha smirked. "S.H.I.E.L.D.'s fire budget just went up."
Logan chuckled. "Kid, you're on barbecue duty next party."
Peter focused flames at his feet, floating up. "I can fly?!"
"Just thermal propulsion," James corrected. "But with your agility, close enough."
The Mirror Dimension dissolved, returning them to the conference room. James waved, summoning a larger metal case. It opened, revealing hundreds of silver vials.
"Standard enhancement serum," he said. "Like Captain America's, boosts physicality, no random powers."
Tony examined a vial under light. "Shelf life?"
"Permanent, but one dose per person. Overuse causes genetic collapse." James placed a red crystal beside it. "This lie detector, powered by the Mind Gem, screens out Skrulls, Hydra, or sociopaths. State your criteria before use."
Natasha raised a brow. "Tony's gonna love this."
"Same conditions," James said, scanning the room. "Loyalty to S.H.I.E.L.D., antidote to reverse. The universe isn't peaceful."
Tony nodded. "I'll oversee distribution."
James glanced around. "Where's Adam?"
"Building sandcastles with his kid in Hawaii," Hawkeye shrugged. "Said world-ending threats wait for his daughter's castle."
James chuckled, opening a portal. "Call if you need me."
Golden sparks faded, and he was gone.
The room fell silent. Tony clapped. "Avengers, overtime. Natasha, screen field agents. Banner, upgrade injection gear. Clint, test the crystal's range. Peter…"
Spider-Man, poking the crystal, jumped. "Huh?"
"Call MJ," Tony said. "Tell her you're saving the world all night."
James's Villa, Beach
Sunlight gleamed. Wanda and Kara tossed a two-ton boulder like a volleyball, waves crashing as it hit the sea. James lounged on a sun chair, sunglasses on, sipping iced juice, smiling.
"Your hobbies are getting weirder," he teased.
Wanda, floating, tossed the boulder with chaos magic. "More fun than fighting aliens!"
Kara caught it, tossing it lightly. "Join us, James? I won't use super speed."
Before he could reply—Buzz!—a golden portal opened. A man in a red cloak stepped out, exhausted.
