"I'm going to die of hypothermia before I reach this secret lair..." Victor said with a shiver from in between two train cars. He had his climbing gloves, life support device, and climbing boots on. His life support device was a black mask that was connected to a backpack. Inside of this backpack was a tank of oxygen, water, and blended rations. Each system will be activated if they're needed. His climbing boots were sleek dull grey boots with several large spikes around the sole. He had a thick coat on and the same pair of black glasses that were in his room.
"Looks like my stop is coming up, thank goodness." Victor said as he slowly stood up and gripped the edges of the train cars. The grip strength the gloves granted him caused the train cars to bend around his hands as he grabbed them. Victor paid no mind to this and propelled himself forward using the train cars, sending him flying off of the train. The spikes on his boots began to automatically resize themselves as he skidded across the ground, reducing most of the force. he finally came to a stop and looked up at the mountain he had to climb.
He steeled his resolve and began making his way towards the mountain. As he approached the base, his glasses detected something flying at him at high speeds. He zoomed in and it was a man in shiny metallic armor under a green tunic with a hood. The man landed in front of Victor and pointed his palm at him. A blue light scanned Victor and once it was done the man spoke.
"I have scanned your brain waves and identified you as a descendant of Victor von Doom. Please, state your name." The man's voice was monotone and robotic.
"My name is Victor von Doom II, great-grandson of Victor von Doom." The Doombot nodded it's head, "Greetings young master Doom. Allow me to escort you to Mini Latveria, place your hand on my shoulder."
Victor did as the Doombot asked and a blue flash of light engulfed them for a brief moment before they reappeared inside of a gigantic facility. The walls made of a titanium-tungsten alloy making the inside dark grey, and hundreds of Doombots worked endlessly across the base.
"Welcome to Mini Latveria, young master. Follow me." The Doombot asked taking Victor out of his stupor. Who was his great-grandfather? How was he able to keep this a secret from the entire world? Victor asked himself these questions as he followed the Doombot and they stopped on a metal platform.
"Floor 1." The Doombot said and the ground beneath them began to glow before they teleported. They arrived on the first floor which resembled the inside of a castle. Victor followed the Doombot into a grandiose master bedroom. He led him into the study and the Doombot titled a sequence of books, something Victor watched closely, before the entire study began to morph. It turned into an armory. On the walls were various gadgets but what captured Victor's attention the most was a suit locked behind a glass box. It was similar to the one the Doombots wore but it was much shinier and Victor could feel a powerful aura wafting off of it.
The Doombot noticed Victor looking at the armor and spoke, "That is the same armor your great-grandfather wore. It is in pristine condition, but your body is not ready to handle the full might of this suit. Do not worry though, you will undergo the appropriate training and conditioning to completely embody what it means to be Doctor Doom."
Victor stood in awe, he didn't understand the magnitude of weight this mantle held, but he felt a fire in his soul ignite. He opened his mouth to speak, "I-I wholeheartedly accept this role!"
"You accepted this role when you deciphered the code, young master. Follow me please, you will begin training immediately. Do not worry about your home life, a Doombot was sent in your place." The Doombot said as it walked out of the study. As they left, the study returned to normal seamlessly. They walked down the hall and down a long flight of stairs until they wound up in the basement. Well, a door that lead into the basement. The Doombot put in a long 30-digit code that opened the airlocked door. Behind the door was a giant white room. No windows, no ventilation, no furniture, not even a small groove.
"Welcome to the Sanctuary of Doom, where you will spend most of your time training, meditating, and learning. The entire room is linked to your specific brain waves, so only you may see what the room holds. If you need food, water, or need help locating a room, simply think of a Doombot and it will assist you. Farewell, young master." The Doombot bowed and walked back upstairs. Victor exhaled and walked into the room. Immediately, the landscape changed and he was in a dense jungle.
"Greetings, my grandson." A deep voice said from behind Victor. He flipped around and he saw his grandfather's hulking figure standing behind him.
"I-Is this real? I thought you were dead grandpa." Victor said and Doom crossed his arms, "Death means nothing in the face of Doom. Moments before I died, I implanted my consciousness into the Sanctuary of Doom."
"I see, so I'm guessing your here to train me personally then?" Victor asked and Doom nodded, "Indeed. Who else should train the future Doctor Doom other than Doom himself?"
"Now, allow us to begin." Doom snapped his fingers making the landscape change to a dojo. Doom took off his suit and stood away from Victor in a fighting stance, "I want you to come at me with all you've got."
Victor nodded and got into a boxing stance. He studied a few videos on YouTube but he's never put his practice to the test. He threw a quick right jab at his grandfather. Doom easily sidestepped the punch and palmed Victor in his chest, knocking the wind out of him and sending him rolling across the ground.
"Get up and try again." Doom ordered and Victor slowly rose to his feet. He got into a boxing stance again and they were at a standstill for a moment before Doom stepped forward. Victor reflexively reacted and flinched back, within that brief moment Doom closed the distance between them and had his fist primed for a powerful punch. Victor quickly raised his arms to block.
*BANG*
Victor could feel his bones creak as his grandfather's fist made contact with his arms. The punch sent Victor sliding across the dojo until he collided with the wall. His arms were shaking and the area of impact was severely bruised.
"Apologies for the over use of force. I simply wanted to showcase the martial arts you will be learning. I have been developing it for decades now and you will be the first person to learn it, I've named it, Latverian King Style." Doom said as he helped Victor up. He got back into his suit and led Victor outside of the dojo. At the gate was a medium sized boulder with a thick rope wrapped around it. Doom snapped his fingers and Victor's clothes were changed to a sleek black bodysuit and boots.
"What you're wearing right now are clothes fitted with gravity inhibitors. They will get heavier as you get stronger reaching a maximum of ten times Earth gravity. You are to only take these clothes off when bathing or receiving medical attention. They will begin at two times Earth gravity. Once they activate, I want you to carry this boulder up that mountain by dusk tomorrow."
Suddenly, Victor's knees began to buckle due to the weight he was currently feeling.
"Farewell grandson. I'll see you on the mountain." Doom vanished leaving Victor alone. He gritted his teeth and took a step forward. Then he took another and another and he slowly made his way to the boulder. His muscles felt like lava had been poured into his skin and sweat dripped off his body like a rain shower. He slid his arms between the fastening that was holding the boulder and slowly but surely lifted it off the ground.
He wobbled around for a moment before taking a heavy step forward. The mountain was around 15 kilometers away from the dojo, a hellish journey. Victor persisted onwards one step at a time.
