Goal: Skill Training
In order to be the best, you don't just need to know your ideal body. You must master your volleyball basics. Especially if you're planning on being a well-rounded, complete player.

Time Limit: 24 Hours (Dream World Time)

Jordan narrowed his gaze at the screen floating before him, swiping a thin film of sweat away from his forehead. "So I need to work on the basics first?" he complained. "I was hoping you'd give me something more challenging…")
[The more reps you do, the harder will be scaled. Your foundation is already too low to build upon without reinforcing fundamentals.]
"Tch, fair enough…"
The room shifted at his whim. The pristine white nothingness gave way to a high school gymnasium, shiny floors reflecting the fluorescent lighting overhead. A volleyball net coalesced in the center, flanked by ball carts, cones, and an automated serving machine shoved into a corner.
A ball in hand as he stepped onto the court.
"These movements will generally necessitate that one toss or set up the ball…"
[Correct. I advise you to have a support unit to assist your training.]
"Wait I can just do that?"
[Positive. Dream World is a world created by your mind. You can construct any object, individual, or condition needed for optimal training.]
"Oh, that's.ridiculously useful."
Jordan shut his eyes and pictured a player a light-skinned, tall man with black hair, brown eyes, lean physique, wearing all black. One second later, the man was in front of him, face blank but primed.
"Okay," Jordan cracked his knuckles, "let's see exactly how rusty I am."

[Start Task 1: Underhand Serve – 0/150]
Jordan had the ball in his left palm. Shoulder-width apart, he took a deep breath and swung his arm forward. The ball soared into the net.
".Wow," he muttered, wincing. "That bad, huh?"
[Your elbow fell after contact. Keep your arm straight and follow through.]
He gritted his teeth and attempted again.
Thump. Into the net once more.
Thump. This time it went through but came way out.
He let out a frustrated breath. "I haven't played like this since High school…"
[This is normal. Although your in your younger self body your brain didn't play for years and your body is controlled by your brain plus this body has done Any recent play also. Just remain focus and Continue. Improvement comes through repetition.]
By the 30th serve, his shoulder stung. He rotated it cautiously, blowing out between tightened teeth.
[ Lower your contact point. Engage your core. Breathe rhythmically.]
Jordan adjusted, muscle through, and little by little, the serves began flying smoother, tighter, and truer. By the 75th, the ball was crossing the net time after time and going in-bounds.

The computer partner jumped over the net and started throwing balls up in the air.
Jordan raised both hands, fingers apart in the familiar triangular formation. The initial ball hit his wrists awkwardly.
"Ow damn! That hurts!"
[Keep your hands soft. Catch the ball with your fingers, not with your palms.]
The second try hit his forehead.
He stood back, gritting his teeth. "You couldn't throw it slower at first?"
Jordan got into stance again. He tracked this time around the curvature of the ball better, placed it cleanly into the air.
He began catching rhythm around rep 25, but not until rep 60 did his form relax.
Sweat ran off his face.
"Man… I forgot how draining this is."

The AI threw lower balls today. Jordan shifted up and dropped into a squat, arms crossed.
Thud. The first pass shanked off to the side.
He began again.
Thud. Backward, this time.
Jordan let out a breath. "I swear I used to be better at this…"
[Getting frustrated can actually hurt your performance. Take short breaks between reps.]
"Amongst noted." He breathed and shook his arms.
This part of the drill was slower than the rest. He had to pause many times his forearms were red and aching by rep 90.
But he did not give up. Slowly but surely, the passes straightened out. Cleaner.

Cones formed a zig-zag on the court. Jordan cracked his neck.
Shuffle shuffle shuffle his legs moved too stiff. He tripped on the first cone.
"Damn it…"
[Try shortening your stance. Keep your lower half near the ground. Sideways motion takes tempo and balance.]
"Right…"
By rep 50, he was covered in sweat. His thighs hurt. His calves were screaming.
And still he pushed. Each round was becoming more so. Crisper.

Jordan stood at the back of the court.
"Left-right-jump."
He had barely left the ground.
[Your takeoff angle is terrible. Bending your knees will help. Time your final step with your arm swing.]
He went again. Still awful. Again. Slightly better.
By rep 30, his form started clicking.
By rep 80, fire burned in his movements.
And at 100 he flew higher than when he first arrived in Dream World.

"I haven't moved that way in years," he cried, sweat streaming out of his eyes. "But damn… it feels good."

"Great. Now give me five minutes' rest here before I keel over."
[You may rest. Or… I can give you a light spar simulation against an intermediate-level character.]
Jordan grunted. "System, I love and hate you."
[Understood. Feeling noted. Shall I log you out, or start simulation?]
