Sarutobi Hiruzen, the revered former third hokage immediately wore his battle gear and directed ANBU squard to scatter and push back the Kyubi. Also rescue the commoners if possible. As for the Uchiha clan members, they are forbidden from entering battle. Danzo was wary of the Uchihas. Therefore, Uchiha Fugaku could only command his clansman to stay within the clan compound.The ANBU and the ninjas of Konoha, used all ninjutsus to either defend or damage the monster infront of them. But alas! Neither attack landed on the Kyubi. The monster raised it claw and broke all the ninjutsu defences like bubble in the air.
Many elite ANBU ninjas lost their lives. Countless genin and chunin were sacrificed. A meaningless resistance of the weak.
Hiruzen with his summon beast enma, fought the Giant beast and sweating profusely. Finding no opportunity he could only stall for time. Wait for reinforcement... Or an opportunity to break through.
Meanwhile, the Two parasites from the elders' council and aslo the hokage advisor:
Danzo Shimura ordered his all the Jounin and Spacial-Jounin Root Ninjas to remain stand by and used Root Genins and a few Chunin to participate in Kyubi attack.This would allow him to conform to his duties and an excuse to show death statistics to recruit more members into his Root organisation. Danzo was preparing a diabolical conspiracy to gain maximum benefits and wished death upon the new Hokage and that old fogey Hiruzen.Well, his Dream is to become Hokage at the cost of others. He firmly believes that he was the one who was supposed to be Hokage but a slight hesitation caused him to miss his opportunity, which made him feel indignant. Danzo is extremely shrewd with his actions and operates when there is a high probability of success.
( Root operates under Danzo Shimura's command but all the capital and budgets are allocated by the hokage, meaning Hokage has a firm grasp on Root. Hiruzen allowed Root to exist only to do his bidding)
Also Koharu Utatane and Homura Mitokada restrained their own people from the bloody battle and only rescue the injured. Meanwhile, they watched how the battle unfold silently. They have seen too much and they know the too much to let their clan members brazenly sacrifice under the banner of this so called true 'Will of Fire'. Furthermore, they commited multiple atrocities for the continuation of Konoha. Occasionly, they would intervene or cast barrier to reduce casualties. After all, Konoha belongs to them and who would like watching a wild dog damaged their own house.
The world is unfair. Kindness is a currency, love a distraction and hope?... humph, just another lie they sell to the weak.

Hiruzen's wife lay dead with two other midwives, a young woman with red hair in half-dead state, struggling to keep consciousness, a baby's cry could be heard.

Yes, the yellow flash is Namikaze Minato, the half-dead woman is who gave birth to Naruto is Uzumaki Kushina and the mysterious Masked man calls himself Madara Uchiha.
But Soon, Namikaze Minato ( Current 4th Hokage with very little power, not ninja power but authority because Hiruzen has all the ANBU under him, leaving him with no real power and all decision are supervised through Hiruzen. Basically Minato is a puppet ) ended the climactic battle using Thunder god Teleportation and incomplete version of Rasengan at the same time to injure the villain. The masked man retreated, while taking this opportunity Minato Took his Wife and Child into a house using Thunder god Teleportation Technique. He said his goodbye and wore his 4th Hokage robe like it mattered. ( Minato is naive, kind-hearted person for his own people but merciless against his enemies) Then he left for the Kyubi battle.
Sarutobi Hiruzen used some sort of special technique and turned his curly haired baboon into a staff. Using this unbelievable display of chakra, this old veteran somehow pushed the monsterous 9 Tails out of the Village.
Being pushed aside, the furious Kyubi, condensed a beast chakra ball ( a missile ) to blow up these bandits who kidnapped him and forced to live in a cell alone. Anyone would definitely go berserk if they are locked up just for existing.
Minato, ahem! Best hokage Minato-sama use Lightning Thunder God Transportation to fend off Byju-dama ball elsewhere.
Few moments later,
Minato, his wife and his child were locked inside a barrier with the victim ( Kyubi ). After discussing their love for the village which would eventually shit on their child Naruto Uzumaki, came to a consensus and reached an agreement to seal off the Accused Victim in their own child for the betterment of the village. Then used the Death Seal of Uzumaki clan to contact A Shikigami which is Soul-reaper who devours soul as delicacy proform a bindings technique to seal kyubi's Yin chakra within Minato and Yang charka on a innocent baby Naruto, then dying a glorious death as a hero with his wife.
Oh, sorry! Before dying the barrier broke apart and Hiruzen outside, rushed in immediately. In Minato's last moment, Minato Requested Hiruzen for his son to be known as a Hero and His parents as myrters of the village. Professor of Ninjutsu Hiruzen Sarutobi promised that he would take care of Naruto as his own child.
And that's how Kyubi was sealed within Naruto folks!
