Chapter 2 - 02 - How to (not start) a legend, but at least a friendship

I was in deep shock. There is no question. I felt like an outsider controlling a puppet, as if my soul was outside this body and just pulling the strings. Luckily for me, this body possessed muscular memory, and I got dressed in no time in a uniform I was familiar with, but never expected to wear it. Tracen Academy uniform.

May it be destiny, cosmic intervention or happenstance, but none questioned me, mostly because my host wasnt very expressive from the very start, it looked like I was at some kind of hotel, not an expensive one, but the staff was nice and they gave me an energic goodbye, it seems they knew where I was going and they wished me good luck. I was still in my stupor, so my body, moving by itself, dragging me across the city streets. Some random people wished me a good day, and some kids pointed at me as they moved to their own schools.

Kid A: "Look, another girl from Tracen!"

Kid B: "Whoah! But I don't know her, is she new?"

Girl: "Hey you two! Don't go around pointing at people, that's rude! We are sorry, miss!"

The streets were clean, and the air was somewhat fresh, even if we were in a city, I don't really know if my body works differently, or this world isn't so affected by polution like my old world, but it was a nice change... the people moved around living their lives, people going to work, to their studies, comming back from parties, the world was very alive, and yes, at this point I discovered something that had slipped through my mind, they were speaking japanese, and luckily for me I was able to understand everything.

And so, I began to regain my senses when I finally arrived at the gates of the academy. And don't get me wrong, I was still panicking inside, but the scenery caught my eye... I was really in this place. I knew I woke up as a magical horse girl, but it just began to sink into me the real situation I was in. I played this game before, but I never, ever dreamed about being in this place. Of course, I had my inner otaku delusions, like getting isekai-ed or getting my own romance full of random stuff, but this was too much.

Happy Meek: I... I'm here...

And as I was trying to process everything, a blue window appeared in front of me displaying some words.

(Welcome, Happy Meek to your system!)

(I will be your assistant in this career you are about to start)

(But don't get me wrong! Power comes with a price!)

I was surprised by this new finding, even if it didn't really show on my face, it was a happening, my own system! Now I'm bound to get overpowered in this universe without putting any effort. This is the start of my legend!

Random Uma: Out of the way!

I was startled and jumped toward some nearby bushes as a group of girls entered through the main gates, running.

Random Uma 2: Don't daydream at the entrance!

I landed in the bushes with a rustle, my boots tangling in the branches. My tail flicked wildly, and I'm pretty sure I looked like a startled cat in a horse girl's body. The group of Uma Musume dashed past, their uniforms pristine and their strides confident, like they were born to rule the track. I caught a glimpse of one girl, tall, with sleek black hair and a smirk that screamed, "I'm better than you." Probably a veteran, or at least someone who thought she was. And actually, they were pretty fast.

Happy Meek: 'Damn... I wish I were as fast as them...' I thought, and then I slightly opened my eyes as I realized I'm of the same race as them "Oohhh..."

While I tried to recompose myself, a group of girls looked at me from a distance, among them some of the main cast of the anime. I spotted Tokai Teio, her cheerful grin unmistakable, Special Week bouncing with nervous energy, and Silence Suzuka, calm and graceful. I was at a loss for words. I wanted to get to know them—Tokai Teio, Special Week, Silence Suzuka—but…

(If you don't get in time for the orientation, you will be penalized.)

I stood up, dusting myself off and picking twigs from my hair. My boots felt heavy, like my old sneakers after a long shift, but they were sturdy, built for running. I glanced at the star Uma Musume one last time, my otaku heart screaming to run over and fangirl, but the system's warning kept me focused. I shuffled after the crowd of new joiners, trying to blend in despite my leafy accessories.

As I hurried along the cobblestone path, a soft voice called out. "Hey, you okay? That bush looked like it put up a fight."

I turned to see a horse girl with short, chestnut hair tied in a neat ponytail, her Tracen uniform crisp and her smile warm. Her badge read Flashy Motion, and her ears twitched slightly, like she was curious but not judging. She was a first-year student, like me, but she carried herself with a quiet confidence I envied.

Happy Meek: "Uh, yeah, I'm… fine. Just testing my luck with nature," I said, forcing a grin. My face burned. "I'm Happy Meek, by the way. Nice to meet someone who doesn't shove me into bushes."

Flashy Motion: She giggled, her ponytail bouncing. "I'm Flashy Motion. Don't worry about those girls—they're just hyped for orientation. You're a first-year, too, right?"

Happy Meek: "Yeah... my name is..." I almost said my old name, but quickly changed to this new world "Happy Meek."

Flashy Motion: "Pleasure to meet you."

I nodded and smiled, for some reason, talking to her made my heart feel a little warmer, she has that sisterly aura around her. For some reason, talking to her was incredibly comfortable... Yeah, I was unaware of the monster I was bonding with.
