Mavis looked so serious, tightening the hug like he feared losing his brother. "I hate to see you suffer."
Sylene looked up at the sky and huffed, "Me neither."
Mavis smiled and gently released the boy. "Let's go back. I'll prepare the food."
The words cut through the worry. For now, Sylene still felt fine—strong enough to manage.
Food always caught his attention. He wanted roast beef, honestly, but meat was expensive, and they didn't have stable jobs yet. So, he kept quiet when Mavis came home with vegetables again.
If only he were rich enough....
