Chapter 13 - [Eyes In Eye]

Under the sacred geometry, Flame pushed his left shoulder against the magical stone door.

Contrary to his expectations, the small stone was much heavier than he had previously assumed. His face almost turned red as he awkwardly pushed the door with his remaining hand.

Once, a slight movement was made the door creaked, and then opened smoothly without meeting any resistance, dusting away ancient wisps of dust beneath it.

Flame coughed a few times and waved his hand, before entering the room.

the familiar orange glow filled every corner of the chamber. the room was only felt a little bit larger than the one Flame had in his house, but other than that everything was…extravagant.

On the walls a series of different weapons were beautifully decorated. Including various different kind of swords like curved tachi, the double-edged sword with a beautiful pommel, a great sword almost stretching on the entire wall, some knives which were also orderly hinged by some mysterious force.

Just by looking at them, Flame could say that if he was to sell these blades on earth, they will earn him a fortune rivalling to a noble family.

Sadly, he could only give them a short glance, before turning around and leaving the room.

Flame opened some more doors and was greeted by the similar ancient dust, along with some more antiques of the ancient times.

Every time, he opened a door and left the huge stash of money behind, his poor heart almost bled several times

"hah! Why is life so cruel?"

Flame sighed and then moved on to the next door.

There were only two more chambers left after this one. Out of which, one was useless for him and the other was standing just next to this one.

The last chamber had much bigger doors than others and also some strange dark chaotic patterns were engraved on it.

Looking at the door, somehow Flame an ominous feeling creeping out of him, but he also found himself keen to open the door and find what was behind that unique door.

Flame felt that he was definitely going to find something important there, so he decided to leave it for the last.

As Flame pushed the door before him and entered inside, his eyes wandered aimlessly.

Flame felt nothing out of ordinary and had almost decided to move out, when suddenly footsteps halted mid-way and his whole body shuddered.

"what…does it even mean?"

At the horizontally opposite corner of the orange glowing room, Flame saw a pile of bones arranged into a neatly ordered fashion in order to make it look like a skeleton of a human being.

However, it seemed like the artist had forgotten to put the skull in the right position.

In fact, Flame felt his heart stop for a moment and his back sweat when he looked at the skeleton first time, almost considering it a living human being due its ostentatious robes

That was until, he saw an ivory back of a skull facing him, rested on the skeleton's dainty hand.

on his other hand, the skeleton was holding a beautiful green sword which looked still intact in the current condition. similar patterns of the floral vines of crimson and golden—like on the huge door—could be seen enchanted around the hilt and the flat side of the green blade.

The beautiful blade didn't even look like anything to be wielded in a fight. the designs and art were intricate enough to consider it as a show case material.

And Flame's heart was bleeding profusely again seeing another stash of useless cash.

He then left the room before taking the clothes from the skeleton and wore them instantly.

Leaving the poor guy naked.

Flame didn't find any humour in his thoughts when suddenly, a clinking sound resounded. He quickly searched the robes and found a pair of beautiful daggers.

A thin aged thread was tied to the pommels of the both blades, allowing them to freely dangle in air.

He picked the daggers from their aged thread, creating an echoing clangour in the deserted gallery.

"hah whatever… At least now I something to wear!"

He kept them inside again and left the room in a joyful manner.

After staying in this place for all this time, Flame was somewhat worried about encountering some ancient monster, but now he had a weapon.

Afterall, he could now save himself from the inhuman suffering and die instantly if he wanted to.

That would surely be a boon.

Standing before the last door on the ancient gallery, Flame stopped a moment and stared before him

A cold breeze blew, howled from the small opening of the door.

Flame eyes widened "what th… the door is already opened? Why didn't I notice it before??"

Flame felt a cold chill grasping his heart as he couldn't comprehend who would open this door deep within the grounds.

Was it already opened by the ancient times and Flame had just somehow missed it?

Or was there someone else other than Flame in this ancient hall?

'why do things have to be complicated all the times!?' he thought indignantly inside his head, not daring to open his mouth.

In the end, Flame gulped a mouthful of saliva and decided to open the door.

After all, if he wanted to have any chances of returning back to earth, he must open this door.

The huge door engraved with the chaotic dark colours moved smoothly like all its other siblings.

Woosh!

Chilling wind instantly blew out from ancient door.

Flame calmed his raging heart and entered inside.

But the moment he entered, Flame…

"…"

Fell petrified.

He didn't know what to exactly say or do at this point. His mind just went blank.

In the middle of the room there were the long bricks of the familiar glowing stones, placed over each other in a symmetric manner, eventually creating a stair case leading to the roof.

The stair case glowed brightly as it moved higher and higher. It looked like as though, even the stones were content by reaching their destination brimming with joy, only to be dissolved in the familiar swirling darkness…

But before Flame could look at his old horror, his eyes were suddenly grabbed by something…

Surrounding the majestic stairs, countless pairs of hollow eyes stared deep into Flame. the harrowing sinister darkness swirled within the depths of their empty eyes.

the pile mounted around twice the length of Flame's missing arm and clustered into the tight space, but none daring to climb onto the stairs…

Suddenly the darkness swirling within the empty sockets stirred as though trying to peer into Flame's soul.

Flame felt shivers run down his spine as he tried to escape from the countless hollow gazes.

He instantly retracted his eyes, and shut them tight…but to his dismay, the gazes had already peered, evoking a deep sense of unknown primal fear within him.

His whole body suddenly fell cold, even subjugating the surrounding soft warmth.

His eyes shook violently and he felt an unimaginable pain numbing his mind.

Flame knew he need to get out of here immediately, as soon as he can. Otherwise, something very bad might happen and he won't be able to stay alive to witness anything.

But his body froze from fear. His hand froze as it turned to reach the ancient daggers

fire…fire…burn…fire…burn…fire…help…burn

The familiar paranoic thoughts created countless simulations inside his mind and countless overwhelming murmurs assaulted him from inside.

The murmurs were overwhelming.

Suddenly, unbeknownst to Flame, a pair of vermillion eyes emerged from one of the hollow eyes and swiftly slithered across the softly glowing orange stones and pierced its sharp fangs deep into Flame's flesh.

Flame's hollow eyes stirred, dissuading the swarming darkness.
