Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: Kabuto Joins?!

The corpse was buried deep in the ground.

Walking down the hidden path, Naruto reached the end where a wall blocked the way. After pressing the mechanism nearby, the wall shifted, revealing rows of weapons and—most strikingly—a massive corpse suspended in a tank of strange liquid.

The body inside had waist-length white hair and a withered face. At a glance, Naruto could recognize him immediately—Uchiha Madara. The features matched exactly what he remembered from the anime.

"I don't know if this is formalin… but looking at the color, it's the same as the preservation fluid in Orochimaru's lair. Could this have been one of that bastard's experiments?"

Naruto's eyes swept across the warehouse full of glowing green potion. A chill ran through him. Science really had no borders in this world.

Still, he shook his head. Forget it. Just finish the task and leave early.

Rolling up his sleeves, Naruto pried open the lid of the tank. Forcing down a wave of nausea, he reached in and tugged at the corpse's shoulder. The flesh tore easily, a large chunk peeling off at once after years of soaking. Luckily it came from the shoulder, so it wouldn't be noticed at a glance.

He stuffed the tissue sample into his system's storage space, then turned toward the weapon wall.

Obito had clearly ignored the weapons, but Naruto knew Madara was no hoarder of junk. Anything left behind by him would be top-class. His gaze landed on the Gunbai—the giant war fan that hung in the center. A true treasure of the Uchiha.

Without hesitation, Naruto helped himself. After all, he only had a handful of shuriken and explosive tags from the system. If he didn't seize the chance now, then when?

Besides, Uchiha Madara would soon be his "younger brother." And Obito, as Madara's successor, was the younger brother of his younger brother. By that logic, Naruto taking these things wasn't theft—it was respect.

Yes, exactly. This is me paying respect to my elder brother!

Convinced by his own reasoning, he tossed everything into the system's infinite storage. Naruto had to admit—the system space was too convenient. Infinite capacity, shareable with Shadow Clones… if only it could hold living beings! Then he could sneak in whenever he was tired, have a girl massage his shoulders, sip tea under the moonlight, and hop back out refreshed to fight. Even if he couldn't win, he could still exhaust his opponent to death!

And anyway, I'm the protagonist. Who can beat me?

Naruto quickly shook his head, brushing aside the ridiculous thoughts. He still had work to do.

With the sample secured and the weapons looted, Naruto recalled that Madara's secret chamber should also have a wall full of Sharingan. His fingers itched. But Obito was still around, and it would be hard to explain taking so many. Besides, aside from transplantation, Sharingan had little practical use.

Forget it. Better not to draw suspicion.

Activating the Body Flicker Technique, Naruto vanished.

"Disappeared? That really looks like the Flying Thunder God…"

A soft sigh echoed from the shadows, but Naruto was already gone, unable to hear it.

He reappeared in the bathroom of his own home, where one of his Shadow Clones was waiting. The clone carrying Madara's tissue sample materialized beside it, while the waiting clone dispersed instantly, its chakra returning to the main body.

The bathroom was small—too many clones and it'd be packed.

"The clone's back… and it didn't disperse on the way. That means the mission was successful."

Lying lazily on his bed, the real Naruto felt the chakra feedback from his clones. He grinned.

"In that case, I'll need to prepare another location to summon Uchiha Madara tomorrow. Let's see if I can call him out first."

For now, the samples and weapons would stay in the system's storage. No one but him could take anything from there anyway.

Ding-ling-ling…

The alarm clock on the bedside table rang. Naruto sat up with a jolt.

"Ahh… finally, the second day. Time to sign in again!"

He stretched and yawned.

"System, start today's sign-in!"

A mechanical voice echoed in his mind.

[Ding!

Daily sign-in complete. Congratulations to the host for obtaining a loyal subordinate: Kabuto Yakushi!

Loyalty level—100%.

The system has automatically overwritten Kabuto's loyalty, erasing his ties to Orochimaru of the Legendary Sannin. Kabuto Yakushi now serves you unconditionally. Do you wish for Kabuto to announce his defection from Orochimaru publicly?]

The system's latest reward left Naruto stunned.

Wait… what? No way!

"Oi, System, are you some kind of big data algorithm from Google or Alibaba? Do you just eavesdrop on my bragging and immediately push recommendations to the homepage? I was only talking tough with Obito—don't tell me you really took it seriously!"

Still dazed, Naruto quickly shook his head.

"Don't make it public. Keep Kabuto Yakushi loyal to Orochimaru for now!"

Though surprised at first, Naruto had no intention of revealing Kabuto's defection. Keeping him undercover was far more useful.

Kabuto Yakushi was no ordinary subordinate. In the Fourth Great Ninja War, this guy had been terrifying. Not only did he master Ryūchi Cave's Sage Mode—something even Orochimaru failed to achieve—but in the early stages of the war, Kabuto practically carried the entire battlefield. With the Edo Tensei army and the White Zetsu clones at his command, he alone pushed the Allied Shinobi Forces to the brink.

If there was anyone in the Naruto world worth recruiting, Kabuto would be Naruto's first choice.

The man was ridiculously talented and absurdly reliable, especially now that the system had given Naruto his own "cracked version" of Kabuto.

With Edo Tensei at his disposal, wasn't Kabuto basically the perfect spokesperson? Naruto didn't even need to guide him—just let him grow along the original storyline!

That's right. Do everything the same way as in the anime!

Naruto had originally worried about how he'd gather corpses for his own army. But now? The system had delivered a professional graverobber right to his doorstep!

From now on, grave-digging was Kabuto's business. And in that line of work, if Kabuto claimed to be second, who'd dare call themselves first?

It was only the second day of system sign-ins, and he'd already received such a massive reward. What would come at the end of a week? Or a full month? It had to be something legendary! This system wouldn't lower itself to hand out trash, would it?

"Right, System?" Naruto smirked. "If you give me some low-level junk, how am I supposed to show my face to the readers? You'll make me look bad!"

His grin widened as another idea popped into his head.

"How about this—you reward me with a big-breasted Hinata who knows every martial art, or maybe a Terumi Mei who's not only Mizukage but also skilled at singing and playing music. Either one's fine, I'm not picky!"

He folded his hands together dramatically.

"I make my wish! And System, I promise—I'll say it every day until you grant it!"
