Chapter 77 - Physical Amnesia Method

Chapter 77: Physical Amnesia Method

How could one describe Lu Ye's mood at this moment?

Perhaps it was like the first snow just clearing up, a cup of warm sake in the room, and when you push the door open, the pure moonlight pours down right before your eyes. There was a hint of joy, but it was hard to put into words, so he could only shake his head.

Lu Ye said helplessly, "Don't blame me for not warning you if you can't wake up tomorrow morning!"

Cynthia smiled sweetly. "Don't worry, I'll sleep once I clear this level!"

Lu Ye lay on the sofa, staring at Cynthia's profile for a moment before getting up.

"I'll go tidy up your room."

"I can sleep on the sofa too."

"Are you teaching me how to do things?"

Cynthia was slightly taken aback as Lu Ye came out of the room holding a pillow.

Lu Ye rented a small one-bedroom apartment. Giving up the bedroom meant he had no choice but to sleep on the sofa.

"The sheets have been changed, and the quilt cover and pillowcase are from a different set, freshly washed."

Lu Ye pulled out a calculator from who-knows-where. "The environment may be a bit simple, but charging you like a guesthouse seems fair..."

Cynthia nodded unconsciously.

So it was charged... That actually made sense. She had been a bit hesitant about staying the night, but Plants vs. Zombies was just too much fun...

Hearing there was a charge, Cynthia actually felt relieved.

During the game's result screen, Cynthia tucked a strand of blonde hair behind her ear and leaned toward Lu Ye. "What are you calculating?"

"The bill."

"Give me a piece of paper. I'll help you calculate."

"Huh?" Now it was Teacher Lu's turn to be surprised. He handed Cynthia the paper and pen, and she muttered to herself as she wrote.

"Pokéblocks 50,000, lodging fee 3,000, meal expenses 2,000..."

In just a few moments, the expenses on the bill had already reached an astonishing amount!

Lu Ye's eyelid twitched.

Wait a second, I don't recall spending that much? Lodging fee 3,000? Do you think this is a 5-star hotel? A bowl of soba costing 1,000 yuan? Oh... that one might actually be accurate.

Isn't this too wasteful even for a rich lady?

Noticing Lu Ye's expression, Cynthia turned her face and raised her eyebrows. "Too low?"

Lu Ye was stunned for a long time. "Pretty close... that's about right."

"For Pokéblocks of this quality... I'm not sure about the exact price. I'll make up the difference when I get back," Cynthia said with a frown.

Lu Ye's eyes were brimming with tears.

Is this really a rich lady? She's an angel!

Night had fallen.

The light in the bathroom was on, and the sound of running water trickled out.

Lucario's eyes were half-closed, but its aura kept a constant lock on Lu Ye.

Lu Ye sneered.

Did they think he couldn't peek just because he wasn't allowed to watch? Just listening to the sound of water was enough to fill three bowls of rice!

Of course, that was just a thought. Trying it in practice would probably lead to Lucario cutting him down on the spot.

Sleepiness crept up on Lu Ye, and he yawned.

Half-asleep, a slightly frightened Eevee darted into his arms. He rubbed Eevee's head, hugged it close, and leaned back on the sofa, gradually drifting off to sleep.

A silent night passed.

At dawn, Lu Ye was woken up by a phone call.

He didn't dare show any morning grumpiness because the call was from the big shot, Red.

"Teacher Lu, are you coming to the Master League event in Modu?"

Lu Ye mumbled, "Yeah, I even scored a few free tickets."

Red chuckled. "I introduced you to Mr. Lance. He's quite interested in you."

"If possible, he'd like to consult you first!"

"Consult? You're asking me..."

Before he could finish, Lu Ye jolted awake.

What the heck?!

Judging by what he'd heard, was the Dragon Master Lance going to battle him?! I haven't even left the starter village, and now I have to face the Elite Four?

This is too much!

Lu Ye swallowed nervously. "Uh, Red, I'm not a Trainer..."

"I know!"

Red laughed heartily. "Breeders can be strong too! Green and Lance are old rivals."

"I..." Lu Ye didn't know what to say.

"It's settled then!" Red muttered excitedly as he hung up. "I can't wait... I wonder what tactics Teacher Lu will use against Mr. Lance."

Lu Ye stared blankly at his phone.

What if I don't want to go to the event anymore? If I really end up in a friendly match with Lance, wouldn't Haunter be done for? Even 10 Haunter wouldn't be enough for his red Gyarados!

As Lu Ye sat there in a daze, the bedroom door opened.

Wearing loose pink pajamas and bunny slippers, with tousled blonde hair, Cynthia yawned long and hard.

Suddenly, she seemed to realize something.

A rare blush crept up her cheeks.

With a 'thud,' the bedroom door closed again.

Lu Ye: ...

Did I just see something incredible?

Suddenly, a beam of red light flashed from a Poké Ball.

Lucario emerged, and with a precise hand chop, struck Lu Ye's neck.

Lu Ye blacked out.

When he came to, he was back on his sofa.

"An unfamiliar ceiling..." Lu Ye groaned.

"You're awake?"

Cynthia, now dressed in her usual black trench coat, her silky blonde hair cascading over her shoulders, sipped elegantly on tea.

"The tea bags were in the cabinet. Want to try some?"

"Oh... no, thanks." Lu Ye looked up at the ceiling.

What was I about to say?

Oh right, that friendly match with Lance?

Lu Ye scratched his head. "Did I forget something...?"

With aura powers, a brief memory wipe was totally possible.

Lucario, holding a cup of tea, sighed softly.

Despite staying up until 2 AM, Cynthia looked remarkably refreshed, a heart-melting smile on her lips.

"Teacher Lu, are you going to the event later?" Cynthia asked.

Thinking about Lance's potential challenge, Lu Ye's face twitched. But since it was Cynthia's match...

Lu Ye gritted his teeth. "I'm going!"

He won't recognize me anyway. With so many spectators, there's no way Lance will single me out, right? At worst, I'll just slip away after the match, Lu Ye thought.

You want to beat up a rookie? No way!

"Then let's go together." Cynthia nodded. "I have a special invite seat. It's a much better view."

For such high-level battles, watching it live was a completely different experience from watching videos. Even though Lu Ye had no intention of becoming a Trainer, it was like going to an NBA game — he just wanted to enjoy the hype.

Besides, with VIP seats, maybe you could even see the bloodstains clearly. The brutal matches might make his little partners give up on training altogether!

Lu Ye nodded. "The invite doesn't matter. I just want to sit in the family section."

Cynthia raised her brows.

"The... the friend section."

"Let's go."

Cynthia smiled warmly, tucked her Poké Ball into her belt, and her eyes sharpened with resolve.
