Chapter 10 - Chapter 10 - Obscurus…

The darkness surrounded her like a warm blanket that sheltered her from the cold, or like being in her mother's womb. She felt safe, protected, and loved. She wasn't afraid of the darkness that enveloped her; rather, it made her want to stay there forever. Anna, who was in a fetal position, let out a comfortable sigh of satisfaction, but the sound of voices made her frown.

— One... they killed him... Scamander... Muggle...

Her senses began to return as the voices seemed to debate.

— That's not... murdered... Obscurus

The voices soon became clearer, but she paid more attention to the word "Obscurus." She had heard that word before, but couldn't remember it. She struggled to remember, but it was impossible, and she gave up, realizing it would be useless to insist on remembering.

— Did you do it, Scamander? — A man's voice sounded beside her, so she opened her eyes in alarm when she was surprised by what she saw.

Several people were gathered in the room as if in a boardroom, and in the center were three people kneeling. Despite being surrounded by what appeared to be a black cloak, she could see everything around her clearly.

— I found this in her trunk, and it's curious what I found, — Said the serious man. She felt her body move to the front of all the people, who immediately gasped in horror.

— I didn't do it! I indeed have that Obscurus in my possession, but its carrier died years ago! — Excused a young man in his twenties with red hair and freckles on his face. — That Obscurus is harmless! — He affirmed.

— Carrying this is against the law of the Ministry of Magic, Mr. Scamander, — Said a woman who was sitting in front of the three, clearly indicating her position. — Because of you, Muggles may learn of our existence and lead us to extinction, — She said sternly, given the seriousness of the situation. — You will not escape punishment, and the Muggle's memory of anything related to us will be erased. — With that, she left the room, followed by everyone else.

The man looked at the three of them and took the trunk.

Anna was confused. This scene seemed strangely familiar, but she couldn't remember where she had seen it before.

The figures of the arrested disappeared, and she was led by the man to his office, where he looked at her so intently that she wondered if he could see her, because when she passed by a glass window, she could see that to everyone else, he looked like a black cloud. The man's unfathomable eyes were a mystery to her, as she could not guess his thoughts. Even when she saw him leave, she was curious about what this man was thinking, which gave her chills.

I have to go back...

That was her thought when she found herself in a different environment. She had to return to the orphanage before her brother noticed her disappearance, and that was her only concern. The rest didn't matter to her at all.

She tried to move what appeared to be her new body (which made her wish she hadn't died from that blow). Perhaps it was a kind of dream like the one she had had before. She didn't know how she ended up in this situation, as she only remembered returning to her room when she felt so sleepy that she could barely stand, and as soon as she fell onto her bed, she lost consciousness.

If only she had a body…

As if her thoughts were heard, the black cloud that covered her was forming into the shape of a human body, and the black energy was absorbed by her. She was surprised to see herself in the same gray or drab clothes from the orphanage, so it was 100% certain that this was her real body, so.... How the hell did she get here?

The sound of footsteps alerted her. She looked everywhere to hide, but she couldn't find the right place; her heart was beating a mile a minute, and she just wanted to disappear from this place.

She closed her eyes tightly to see the handlebars turning when she felt a tug from her navel, and then the air hit her face; she opened her eyes and was surprised to see the orange sunset sky and several buildings. When she looked down, she was so scared that she fell to her knees in fear.

Shit! She cursed when she saw how high she was, for some reason, she got to the top of a tall building so high that she could see the people in miniature. If she had taken a step forward without looking, this would have been her burial place, and the worst thing would have been ground meat.

With gathered strength, she managed to retreat as far as possible from the danger zone and went down the building until she reached the outside, where people were walking home. Well, now, how could she get back when she didn't even recognize the streets of this place?

The right thing to do was to stay where she was while she waited for them to find her, but who would look for her? She was hated by everyone in the orphanage except for Sister Refuge, who was the only one to accept them as they were.

She looked at the sky that was soon getting darker; that could only mean that she had not answered her brother yesterday, and most likely, if she did not answer the letters, her brother would worry. She took a deep breath and began to walk through the unfamiliar streets aimlessly, but her sight was attracted by a newspaper stand which, as she approached, surprised her.

— I'm not in London! — She exclaimed in surprise at the sight of the unfamiliar newspaper, which she guessed was not the official English newspaper she knew so well.

She was so startled by this fact that she sat down in shock. How would she return?

If Tom came and looked at her absence, she could take it as if she had already been adopted by a family and abandoned him without telling him anything; at this thought, she felt a weight in her heart just imagining the hurt and betrayed expression of her older brother.

— I have to go back — She said to herself, with hurried steps she walked, but then she remembered something — New York, Newt Scamander, fantastic animals — She murmured — What are these memories? — She wondered, dumbfounded.

She realized that she was in New York, and for some reason, she knew that reddish-haired boy, but at the same time, she didn't. But fantastic animals, he was a fantastic animal. But fantastic animals, it was as if a key point of it had been blocked, and no matter how hard she tried to remember, she couldn't.

At that moment, thunderous screams reached her ears, she saw how people were running in panic everywhere; she felt a tugging in the depths of her being when she saw that big black cloud destroying everything in its path, by instinct she began to chase it without being aware of why she was following it but something in her mind told her that she had to do that.

Several people collided with it, but she did not give it importance and followed it to what seemed to be the train station. She quickly went down there and saw how that black cloud was still, and that boy she saw kneeling was trying to appease it.

Furtively, she approached the Obscurus, but was noticed by both, although the Obscurus wanted to run away, he could not because something was stopping him.

— Girl, it's not safe here! — Newt Scamander was surprised to see a girl approaching the Obscurus to touch it — Don't touch it — He asked softly, trying not to scare them both, but as if Anna didn't hear him, she touched the Obscurus, which started to be sucked by her.

The young man who was the Obscurus felt that if he didn't move away, he was going to be devoured by this girl, his body weakened and returned to his original appearance, while he moved away from her, scared.

— Don't come closer! — He shouted towards Anna, who was approaching her as if she were hypnotized.

Anna's whole being screamed that she had to get that dark energy at all costs, but a magical attack lashed out at her, and without any defense, she had no time to react. She closed her eyes tightly, just waiting for the pain that never came.

She opened her eyes and realized she was in her room; her clothes were all sweaty from the fear she felt when she saw the attack coming.

OZ, who was watching her, began to hoot to make her aware of his existence.

She smiled at the owl, forgetting the bad dream that felt so real. She got out of her bed to read the letter from her brother, but she went still when she saw 17 letters on her study table.

Without wasting time, she began to read them and was surprised to see all of them asking why she didn't write to him or if something had happened to her.

In one, she was surprised to read that he was coming back as soon as possible, but wondered how much sleep she had gotten to scare his brother. She summoned Tempus and saw the date.

— 9 days!!! — She exclaimed — I've been asleep for nine days — She looked at the cards with trembling hands, but she counted approximately the time on the cards, and that could only mean one thing.

Her door was opened wide, and she saw the intruder who, with his gaze, searched for her until he looked at her.

— Anna! — She was hugged so tightly that she felt she was running out of air.

— Brother...

— Why didn't you answer my letters? Do you know how worried I was while I thought something worse had happened to you — Tom's eyes darkened at the thought of someone doing something to his sister....

— I don't know, I remember going downstairs to eat, but out of nowhere something hit me in the chest and.... and when I came to my room I felt very sleepy and the last thing I remember is getting to my bed — She explained, worried about her brother's expression as tears ran down her cheeks.

— Don't cry, Anna — He hugged her tightly and worried that she would cry because of him; he could only try to comfort his younger sister. But something came to his mind — Who hit you? — He looked directly into Anna's eyes in search of an answer.

— I don't know, I just felt something coming towards me, and when I turned around, I was hit in the chest — She answered.

Tom looked into her eyes, which showed his sincerity. He just hugged her, but in his mind, he thought about what had hit her. He didn't know if that was good or bad.
