Chapter 3 - On one condition

What do you want?" Ruska asked with caution, knowing full well that someone who could access that kind of information wasn't someone to be taken lightly.

She studied him, waiting for an answer. She stared, then finally took the chance to take in the features of the mysterious man.

Ruska stared long enough for the moment to harden around the edges. She couldn't help but think about his physical features.

The young man stood at 1.3 meters, with wide and firm shoulders. The sleeveless jerkin exposed arms that looked like they belonged to an athletic soldier in the armed forces, lean, long, firm, and well-built for battle.

Unknown to Ruska, she had unintentionally licked her lips. Her gaze wandered down to his body.

A worn-out charcoal cloak fluttered at his collar like someone had thrown a rag on the way out the door and he'd decided to keep it.

But it wasn't only the cut of him that snugged her gaze; the sight of his hair, white-blond as winter lighting, fell straight, with curly strands crossing a brow smooth as river stone.

Beneath it, eyes the impossible shade between emerald and oceanic blue, staring hard as though it could see one's soul. A narrow, aristocratic nose divided the symmetry of the face, so unmarred the gods might have carved it.

Ruska's eyes kept probing him until she noticed that he didn't have any swords, pulse ejectors, or even an altered body part.

This was quite surprising for her, as in this part of the world, it had a significant impact on one's survival.

Yet, although there weren't any visible weapons, the air around him seemed to tighten as though the street had drowned in air and held it.

To her, it felt a bit of but she could do nothing but wait for his reply.

After what felt like an eternity to Ruska, he took a step in her direction. He slowly closed the gap between them. Ruska didn't let her guard down; instead, she intensified it.

''I'm recruiting you,'' he said, while stopping when he was an arm's length from her. Ruska was stunned, no doubt, cause it could be seen on her face. It came as a shock to her.

Quickly, she regained her composure so as not to look vulnerable, but he had already seen it. His smirk grew larger.

'Hmm, caught your attention,' the young man thought, very gleefully.

It was because Ruska was known to be a tough person to talk to.

From the intel he gathered, she was someone who valued strength above all else. She wouldn't even acknowledge your presence if you didn't pose a threat.

However, he had managed to gain her attention without using his aura. This was a victory for him, he chuckled internally, while preparing himself for her reply.

''For what exactly, she asked, trying her very best to conceal her curiosity. My revolution movement, I am on a mission to rid this world of its filth, and I'd like you to be a part of it. A long, mischievous smile, as if he had already gone crazy, was plastered across his face, but it immediately reverted to its normal stoic look.

Ruska takes a step back from him. Her eyes widened. 'Oh shit, I scared her,' he thought, trying to make up for his mistakes, not until he caught a spark of thrill flicker in her eyes. A soft gasp escaped her lips before they curved into an eager smile.'' I'll join your revolution'' she replied with a firm look.

The young man was totally shocked by this development, he couldn't believe his ears, he was leaping with joy in his mind.'' Only if you can defeat me in battle'' Ruska added.

''I knew it was too good to be true,'' he muttered.'' I'll have to beat her, that's all, how hard could it be?''.

Ruska was known to be a battle junkie, someone who only respected strength above all things. She was blood thirsty, looking for the most worthy opponent to quench her hunger.

It was quite evident that she had grown bored of fighting such weaklings over and over. This mysterious man had piqued her interest; she could feel her heart racing, blood pumping as though they would burst anytime soon.

She knew this was the battle that would finally relieve her of her thirst, fully aware of the consequences of losing.

She would be a subordinate of this man, whom she knew nothing of; a smile had already broken out on her face.

''Fine, I accept'' he gave his answer, but What's in it for me'' she immediately retorted, stopping him from completing what he was saying.

He couldn't believe his ears, cause if he remembered correctly, he was the one doing her a favor.''You will owe me a favor, and that's a deal, " she continued ''it's nothing much, right?'' Ruska said, confirming that it was a deal.

'She thinks she can beat,' he thought.

''Sure, it's a deal,'' he agreed without any hesitation.

''Huh'' she was visibly shocked. It was quite unusual for someone to agree to a fight with her, let alone one that came with a condition.

''You sure?'' she asked, inquiring if he was sure. ''Yes'' he retorted, releasing his aura. It was clear to her that he was annoyed.

''Ok, but we have to book a spot in the match features, which means we have to meet the match fixer'' she explained to him as they walked.

He nodded without looking at her. He seemed to be searching for someone.

'But who?' she wondered, but decided to say nothing.

Just up ahead, there seemed to be a commotion going on not far from where they were.

Commotions like this were normal in reforge, but weren't always tolerated.

"Tisha," he muttered, dashing off to the scene of the crime. Ruska followed suit.

"She's destroying them; someone stop her," a man with a metal skull shouted from among the crowd.

" Is she really a human'' The chatters continued. As a horrifying scence occured in front of them.

Bashed heads the whitish matter of the brain leaking out from one of cyborgs, limbs turned in diferent directions.

One would have thought he had just stumbled into the gates of hell just by seeing this. "Oh shit" Jason muttered under his breath as he pushed through the crowd, it was clear to him that Tisha had once again lost it.

Punch after punch Tisha continued to pounded on the face of her victim which was now unrecognizable. His jaws had already dislocated teeths missing from their original position.

But yet she didn't let off with her assualts, Jason had managed to push through the crowd. Blocking a fatal strike which would have meant the death of the cyborg.

"Stop, stop" Jason gnarled while dragging her bloodied self away from the scence. "Arh-agh leave me, let me kill him" Tisha screamed like a possessed witch who would do anything to take blood.

"Shout up, do you want to cost us our mission" He snarled back at her as she dangled on his shoulders like a sack.

"Can't you control yourself for once" he continued heading for the exit, looking back he saw Ruska quietly following from a distance. 'Seems I really did convince her'.

After leaving the reforge Jason found an ally free from spying eyes but also leaving a trail of his aura so Ruska could find them.

TUFT. He threw Tisha on the suggy ground without a care in tbe world, He quickly examined her and confirmed she was still unconcious.

"Well this is what i get for bringing my unstable bestfriend to a recruiting mission" he heaved a sigh of relieve.

Looking into the blank space ahead of him his thoughts drifted.

'Will she come or not, he wondered considering the type of person she was. It was largely known fact that Ruska was a proud and self centered person in nature, at least that what the general public believe.

According to his findings and days of stalking he found out that she was just a turtle surrounded by shells. Deep down she was a soft kind hearted person. As i said she was but due to the circumstances concerning the death of her family she turned into a cold hearted.

Now many might wonder why he was trying the recruit her, it was simple he wanted someone with sufficient combat power and a clearer head unlike Tisha who usually list control.

Ruska aura snapped him back to reality, although it wasn't strong as she had most likely withdrew her aura. Unfortunately for her he was no ordinary person.

"I was beginning to think you wouldn't show up" He said without turning to see who it was.

Ruska was visibly shocked and impresed, she had tried to sneak up on him." Mmm, truly a master" she replied with a smirk.

"I'll take that as a form of compliment" Jason responded as he faced her. "So have you made your decision" he asked her ignoring the smirk that was plastered on her face.

"Yes I have" she replied. 'She seems to be more confident than before'. Jason thought 'It best i play it safe from now on'. He agreed to him self.

"So what is it" He asked not liking the suspense but he still put on a gloating smile.

"It a yes" She said "but on one condition".

'I knew it was too good to be true' He knew this from the info he had gotten on Ruska.

"I challange you to a battle" Ruska said her smile wider than it was.
