Chapter 9 - Chapter 9 Mo Fan's Astonishment

With a 'bang', the apartment door closed.

When it opened again, Tang Yue had already changed into casual clothes, her hip-skirt replaced with slim-fit jeans.

Her face was a little flushed, probably from the rush of changing clothes.

"Come in, I'll answer any questions you have," Tang Yue said.

Jiang Yuan didn't stand on ceremony and walked right in.

Sitting on the living room sofa, he voiced some of his questions.

Tang Yue answered patiently.

Her soft voice was very pleasant to listen to. Jiang Yuan's eyes inadvertently swept over Tang Yue's long legs; the tight jeans perfectly showcased her figure.

He unconsciously thought of how she looked just now wearing black stockings.

Were they pantyhose?

Jiang Yuan was momentarily lost in thought, then quickly averted his gaze.

But he was still a step too late; Tang Yue's keen intuition had already noticed.

After finishing her explanation, Tang Yue coughed: "Jiang Yuan, I know you're in adolescence right now, and it's normal to be curious about the opposite sex, but I still hope you focus on your studies and meditation."

It was a lengthy speech, full of a teacher's tone when instructing a student.

Jiang Yuan looked at Tang Yue: "Teacher, you're not much older than me, are you? Why do you talk as if I'm a child?"

Tang Yue was stunned, then burst into a wry smile.

She really wasn't much older than Jiang Yuan; some brother-sister age gaps were much larger than theirs.

And in terms of height, Jiang Yuan, at one meter eighty-five, was a head taller than her.

"With your talent, you'll definitely reach a broader world in the future, otherwise, why would I tell you so much?" Tang Yue didn't even refer to herself as a teacher anymore, speaking entirely in the tone of an older sister.

Jiang Yuan nodded.

"That's right then," Tang Yue was very pleased and planned to keep Jiang Yuan for dinner.

She wasn't only good to Jiang Yuan; she treated other students the same way, but the academically and morally excellent Jiang Yuan garnered a bit more of her attention.

Jiang Yuan was about to agree when a call came in.

It was Xu Dahuang.

Jiang Yuan had no choice but to decline: "Teacher, I have something else to do later, so I won't be eating here tonight."

Something else again?

Tang Yue found it strange; Jiang Yuan was often mysterious, and she didn't know what he was doing.

Yet, he didn't seem like a student who would do bad things.

She felt that as a teacher, she needed to find time to discuss it properly.

It wouldn't be good if he went astray.

"Then you go, don't miss your meditation today," Tang Yue said.

Jiang Yuan agreed and left the apartment to meet up with Mo Fan.

The two found Xu Dahuang, who had been waiting for a long time, and received the mission brief.

This mission was to investigate an abnormal incident at a factory; people always felt the ground shaking, and recently, some had gone missing.

Because it was suspected to involve a demon, a monster hunting request was submitted.

"That's basically the content, nothing too difficult."

"I still have a mission to complete, so Jiang Yuan, you go to the factory first to investigate the situation. Mo Fan just arrived, so you can take him to get familiar with things," Xu Dahuang told Jiang Yuan his arrangements.

The danger level of this mission was not high; even if there were a demon, Jiang Yuan could handle a single Servant-level demon by himself.

And if it was just an investigation, the danger factor was even lower.

"Okay, Captain, then I'll take Mo Fan to investigate first. I'll contact you if anything comes up," Jiang Yuan replied.

Before they left, Xu Dahuang repeatedly reminded them to be careful.

When Xu Dahuang went to complete his other mission, the curious Mo Fan finally couldn't help but ask: "Are there demons in the city too? The Captain kept telling us to be careful, could it be that the two of us mages can't defeat one demon?"

Jiang Yuan thought for a moment, his expression serious: "Whether there are demons in the city or not, you'll know after you do a few more missions. As for how powerful demons are..."

"Let me put it this way, for an average mage to deal with a demon of the same level, it usually requires a small squad. Those who can face demons alone are once-in-a-lifetime geniuses!"

Mo Fan, being less educated, believed Jiang Yuan's words implicitly, looking stunned.

"Even if we encounter demons, it's fine. With the two of us geniuses, it'll be a piece of cake!" Mo Fan wasn't worried at all, his face full of excitement, eager to witness a demon immediately.

The two took a slow-moving vehicle and went straight to the factory.

At this time, the factory had suspended work in the morning due to the missing personnel, waiting for the City Hunter Squad to arrive.

Soon after being led into the factory by the person in charge, Jiang Yuan smelled a faint, lingering stench.

It seemed to be an old friend.

"I don't know where a rat died, but there's always a stench that we can't get rid of," the person in charge complained.

Jiang Yuan told him to go out first, while he led Mo Fan deeper into the factory.

The stench grew much stronger; it seemed the source should be in the equipment room.

Jiang Yuan lowered his voice: "If I'm not mistaken, there should be demons inside this equipment room, it's just unknown how many there are."

The equipment room was piled with a lot of equipment, making it convenient for Giant-Eyed Blood Rats to hide.

"Are you sure?" Mo Fan sniffed carefully towards the equipment room, almost throwing up.

Jiang Yuan nodded: "Basically confirmed."

"So, are we just leaving, or...?" Mo Fan didn't want to leave now; he wanted to see it with his own eyes.

"Not yet, we need to find out approximately how many demons there are. If the number is too high, then we'll need to call for reinforcements from City Hunter Squads in other areas."

"Then what are we waiting for?"

Mo Fan took the lead, kicking open the door of the equipment room.

"..."

What the hell?

When did Mo Fan become so reckless?

Jiang Yuan remembered Mo Fan being very cautious the first time he encountered a demon.

That kick directly startled the Giant-Eyed Blood Rats hidden in the equipment room.

Mo Fan had just poked his head in when a crimson light shot out.

Jiang Yuan had been on alert, and the moment the danger appeared, he pushed Mo Fan away and dodged to the other side.

The crimson light hit the wall not far away, exploding with a bang, sending dirt flying.

Mo Fan instantly broke out in a cold sweat.

"What the hell? That powerful?"

If Jiang Yuan hadn't acted just now, wouldn't he have been blasted to death by that light?

"Mo Fan, stay away from the equipment room. The demon is coming out!" Jiang Yuan warned.

A figure, accompanied by a putrid stench, rushed out of the equipment room, aiming directly at Mo Fan, who had just provoked it.

Seeing this, Mo Fan tried to connect his Star-path.

But the Star-dust in his mind simply wouldn't obey, scattering in all directions after only a few connections.

He had no combat experience at all right now and couldn't use magic in such a sudden situation.

"Ice Manifold!"

A blue magical light shimmered, and an ice crystal spear radiating a chilling aura shot out, blocking between the Giant-Eyed Blood Rat and Mo Fan.

Mo Fan looked at Jiang Yuan in astonishment: "How did you use Ice magic?"

"I'll explain later, let's deal with this Giant-Eyed Blood Rat first!"

Jiang Yuan slightly closed the distance and cast Ice Manifold again, stabbing towards the Giant-Eyed Blood Rat.

Seeing someone interfere with it, the Giant-Eyed Blood Rat suddenly turned its head and swung its terrifyingly sharp beast claws at Jiang Yuan!
