Chapter 144 - The Battle Continues to Heat Up and the Current Situation

"Quidditch chasers, because they're responsible for holding the Quaffle and scoring, will always get a thick callus on their hand from the constant friction with the broomstick," Victor said, looking at Bryce's left hand. "You just said you graduated five years ago and only joined the Daily Prophet last month, but the callus on your left thumb isn't something an amateur Quidditch enthusiast could have. I'd wager you were still flying on a Quidditch Pitch at least a year ago."

"Right… you truly are a Ravenclaw, aren't you?" Bryce looked at his left hand, a hint of regret on his face. "You're right, Mr. Dreyar. From the moment I first touched a broomstick, I always wanted to be an excellent chaser. So after I graduated from Hogwarts, I joined a Scottish Quidditch team. But unfortunately, after four years, I never became a full-time player.

"There were always more talented people who could easily surpass me. So I had no choice but to give up on my dream and slink back home, and after wasting about half a year, my family recommended me to become a reporter.

"You're right, Mr. Dreyar. A lot of things don't have many reasons. They just slowly become what they are."

With that, Bryce calmed himself down, recorded their conversation in his notebook, and said, "I have one last question."

"Everyone knows that you're the inheritor of both Ravenclaw and Slytherin. Do you have any idea what kind of person you want to become, or what are your goals?"

"Goals…" Victor was silent for a moment after hearing the question, then he said, "If we're talking about goals, there are too many. But for now, I hope there will be fewer unnecessary tragedies in this world."

"Tragedies?" Hearing the word, Bryce looked puzzled.

"Voldemort. Are you afraid of him?" Victor asked.

"Well…" Bryce was stunned for a moment, then he gave a wry smile and shook his head. "Mr. Dreyar, if you asked anyone else that question, they would probably be scared away."

"So, are you afraid of him?" Victor repeated the question.

"It's not that I'm not afraid of him, it's that I don't understand him at all," Bryce said slowly. "I'm a half-blood. My mother is a witch and my father is a Muggle. My father only found out my mother was a witch after I got my Hogwarts letter. It was at that time that I was first told not to say his name."

"As long as you're not afraid," Victor said with a knowing look, then pointed at Bryce's notebook. "Listen carefully."

"Voldemort is a product of a Love Potion. He never knew love and exchanged a tragic childhood for an evil nature. You could say he is the source of many people's tragedies, but few people know that the real tragedy lies in the secret behind his birth..."

Bryce's forehead broke into a cold sweat as he wrote down Victor's words. He never expected to hear about Voldemort's backstory.

The public outcry against pure-blood supremacy had been slowly dying down over the last few months. So, Victor planned to take advantage of this tournament to release the secret of Voldemort's birth and the Gaunt family through Bryce's reporting. This would further ignite the debate on pure-blood supremacy and once again light a fire under the public's opinion.

Victor's speech lasted for a few minutes, neither long nor short. Before ending the interview, he said to Bryce, "Mr. Calhoun, I'd like you to publish the report on my interview on the day after the tournament ends."

"Okay, no problem!" Bryce nodded in agreement. He didn't know why Victor would ask for this, but it was a minor request, so he didn't question it further.

It was now lunchtime, and the five teams were taking a break to eat.

After a fierce morning of dueling, the score was: all the House arenas, except for Ravenclaw's, were now occupied by Fairy Tail.

Ravenclaw was also in a precarious position, with many of their valuable fighters exhausted. The current defender was a second-year student, and he would likely be defeated after the break.

Gryffindor Arena Defender: George Weasley (Fairy Tail)

Slytherin Arena Defender: Draco Malfoy (Fairy Tail)

Ravenclaw Arena Defender: Terry Boot (Ravenclaw)

Hufflepuff Arena Defender: Luna Lovegood (Fairy Tail)

Fairy Tail Arena Defender: Sonia de Oliveira (Fairy Tail)

Everyone was incredibly shocked and amazed by Fairy Tail's performance.

George Weasley could manipulate his objects and attack without a wand or a single incantation, which was completely baffling!

Draco Malfoy's use of Water Magic was unnerving. His mastery of a variety of curses (which he learned while training with Harry) had the Slytherins calling him a traitor!

Luna Lovegood, a strange, spacey first-year, had defeated her opponents with her defensive and offensive Patronus.

And Sonia de Oliveira was the most eerie of all. No one saw how she defeated her opponents; all they saw was the white fog dispersing and the person lying on the ground.

And to top it all off, among those four, two were first-years and one was a second-year. But from their performance, it was clear that their skills had surpassed their peers and were at the level of a Hogwarts graduate. And their magic was something no one had ever seen before. Where did all these little prodigies come from?!

The representatives from the other magical schools were starting to get nervous. After all their hard work over the years, their schools were finally on the verge of surpassing the thousand-year-old Hogwarts. But then, Victor Dreyar appeared out of nowhere and shattered their confidence.

At the Fairy Tail campsite, Victor was having lunch with his guildmates. The food had been prepared by Kururu. At one of the tables, Harry and Draco were having their usual argument while they ate, making Lucius twitch.

"Potter, you're a disgrace! You got taken down so easily without your Invisibility Cloak!"

"Shut up, Malfoy! If I hadn't taken down the last fourth-year from Slytherin, do you really think you would have been able to defend that arena?!"

"So, you're saying I won because of you?!"

"Wasn't it?"

"You're full of it!"

The two of them started brawling again. Victor looked on, a wry smile on his face. Harry and Draco would always get into fights over nothing. Now they were arguing about something so small. Perhaps this was just how a Gryffindor and a Slytherin got along.

The other people in the camp…

The Weasley twins were perfecting the magical items they would use in the afternoon. Justin was reviewing the morning's duels so he could catch his opponents off guard in the afternoon.

Meanwhile, Hermione and Luna were being pestered by Aliya, who was asking them all kinds of questions about magic. Hermione looked exasperated while Luna just smiled and answered all her questions.

Rick was discussing Quidditch with Cedric. Neville was trying to figure out how to use his herbs and potions to support his teammates. The parents were also chatting with each other.

Mr. Weasley, Mr. Granger, and Uncle Wilson were huddled together, laughing about who-knew-what. And Aunt Julie, Mrs. Weasley, and Mrs. Granger were in another group, chattering about "womanly matters."

Victor looked at the happy scene in front of him, and after he was full, he smiled and walked out of the camp to stretch his legs.

The outside was just as lively. Students and parents were coming and going. Acquaintances and strangers were sitting together, eating lunch and discussing what might happen in the afternoon.

Just then, a familiar voice came from behind him. "Victor..."

"Good afternoon, Professor Dumbledore." Victor turned around and smiled.

"Good afternoon…" Dumbledore walked over and stood shoulder to shoulder with Victor, admiring the lively scene in front of him. "This is the first time Hogwarts has been this lively since I first came here."

"Humans are naturally complex creatures, but open communication with each other makes their emotions simpler," Victor said, looking at the bustling crowd. "Muggle with Muggle, wizard with wizard, and Muggle with wizard. Do you understand the meaning of that, Professor?"

Dumbledore looked thoughtfully at the lively crowd. There were wizards and Muggles, but the natural barriers that once existed between them were gone, and their conversations were now more relaxed.

"Perhaps you are right. There can indeed be a lot fewer unnecessary tragedies in this world."
