Chapter 16 - Winning Their Trust: Romeo’s Breakout Game

The ball exploded from Romeo's foot like a missile fired with laser precision.

But it didn't rise.

Instead, it tore across the ground—fast, sharp, slicing through the defense like a surgeon's scalpel.

Red Team defender Maidana was caught completely off guard. He saw the pass—felt it coming—but it was so unexpected that instinct took over. He closed his legs in a panic, trying to block it.

Too late.

The ball skimmed perfectly between his legs in a humiliating nutmeg.

He stumbled, lost his balance, and dropped to his knees—awkward, stunned, embarrassed.

Even coach Aimar on the sidelines winced.

But the ball didn't stop.

It curled beautifully, cutting across the pitch to the right edge of the box—landing gently at the feet of Lionel Messi.

Messi blinked in surprise. Even for him, the pass was otherworldly.

He didn't need to adjust—he just tapped the ball coolly as the red team's keeper, Andújar, rushed out.

With a quick flick of the toe, Messi slid the ball through the keeper's legs and into the net.

Goal.

He didn't hesitate—Messi turned and ran straight to Romeo, pulling him into a joyful hug.

"I swear—no one has ever given me a pass like that," Messi said. "Not even Iniesta or Xavi!"

A few meters away, Sergio Agüero stared at Romeo with raised eyebrows, thoughts racing.

That kind of pass… that vision… he's not just some new call-up.

If Romeo could pass like that to him too… the Copa América Golden Boot was a real possibility.

Hell, if Manchester City signed this kid…

Agüero's thoughts spiraled—this wasn't just talent. This was rare.

Meanwhile, Banega's face was locked in a scowl.

Augusto scratched his head awkwardly—he'd just been outplayed by a teenager.

---

The game restarted, and Banega started marking Romeo closely, irritation and tension building.

But Romeo wasn't fazed.

One quick dribble and Banega was behind him.

Then he linked up with Pastore—a smooth give-and-go that cut right through midfield. The chemistry between the two was electric.

Pastore returned the ball with one touch.

Romeo's system lit up: Success Rate: 96%

Boom.

The inside of his right foot sliced under the ball, launching it perfectly into Di María's path on the edge of the box.

The angle, the pace, the spin—it was all perfect.

Di María stepped in rhythm, pivoted on his standing foot, and caught the volley with his left.

Boom.

The ball rocketed into the top corner.

A screamer. Unsavable. 2–1.

Romeo had changed the tempo of the game.

---

From that moment, the match turned into the Romeo Show.

No matter how hard the red team tried, they couldn't lock him down.

Banega chased shadows.

Augusto was passed again and again.

Pastore thrived beside Romeo.

The Trident—Messi, Agüero, and Di María—were firing on all cylinders.

Romeo's passes were sharp, unpredictable, visionary.

Even defensively, he always seemed to be in the right spot—intercepting, disrupting, reading play like a seasoned veteran.

The match ended 6–1.

Red Team never found the net again.

---

As the players caught their breath, one thing was clear:

Romeo wasn't just talented—he was dangerous.

Banega stared at the grass, crushed.

Why did God put someone like that in his path?

---

After a final stretch, Coach Carloni dismissed the team.

Agüero wasted no time.

Back in his car, he pulled out his phone and called the man everyone knew was about to take over Manchester City.

"Pep!"

Guardiola answered with mild surprise.

"I need to recommend someone," Agüero said without breathing. "His name's Romeo Teixeira—he's a midfielder. Genius passer. Came up through La Masia. You need to sign him. Now."

"Romeo Teixeira?" Guardiola repeated, confused.

He hadn't been following the lower leagues or La Liga Segunda.

He didn't know the name.

But Agüero's tone wasn't casual. He wasn't joking.

"Better than De Bruyne," Agüero insisted. "I'm not exaggerating."

Guardiola raised an eyebrow on the other end.

Better than De Bruyne? That was a stretch.

Still, he didn't dismiss it.

"Alright," Pep said slowly. "I'll keep an eye on him."

He hung up—but the name Romeo Teixeira stayed in his head.

It wouldn't be the last time he'd hear it.
