Chapter 145 - Ch 145

"What happened?" Kagami frowned when he heard Shikaku's urgent report.

Because his voice had changed after transforming into Ark-One, Shikaku didn't recognize him at first. He looked at Kagami with confusion. "Who are you?"

Kagami said nothing and immediately canceled his transformation. When Shikaku saw it was him, he walked forward anxiously. "Lord Kagami, there are refugees causing trouble outside the village, clashing with our shinobi. What should we do?"

Refugees causing trouble? Kagami frowned slightly. These weren't Konoha citizens but people who had fled from other villages. Konoha had provided them shelter and food, yet they dared to cause problems. They truly didn't know what was good for them.

"Take me to see the situation first," Kagami said, putting away Satellite Ark. Though he wanted to try the Rider Kick, now wasn't the time. Shikaku breathed a sigh of relief—with Kagami present, these refugees couldn't cause real trouble. He immediately led Kagami toward the village entrance.

At the gates, Kagami saw a scene that angered him. A group of Konoha shinobi were arguing with ragged refugees.

"Why does Konoha make us work just to eat? You're inhumane!"

"We're refugees, homeless people! It's only right that Konoha takes us in, but making us work first is too much!"

"Konoha is so wealthy—what's wrong with giving us food? How can you be so stingy!"

"This treatment is completely excessive!"

The speakers were lazy-looking refugees shouting angrily at the Konoha shinobi. Under their instigation, surrounding refugees joined in, cursing the shinobi.

"How can Konoha do this? We're refugees and you make us work—is there no justice?"

"We can barely eat—how can we have energy to work?"

"Don't you claim to be a righteous village? Why won't you help refugees?"

"What Konoha is doing is simply inhumane!"

"You must give us food, or we'll stay here and not leave!"

They had expected to receive shelter and food by fleeing to Konoha, but hadn't anticipated being asked to work. How could they accept this?

The Konoha shinobi were furious. They had taken in these refugees and provided shelter and food—the most they could do. But instead of gratitude, they faced unreasonable demands. However, they didn't dare attack, knowing this concerned Kagami's unification plans. They suppressed their anger and reasoned patiently.

"You misunderstood. We're not refusing to feed you. We hope you can earn food through labor—that way you can live with dignity."

But these refugees were actually spies from other villages. Seeing the shinobi's restraint, they grew bolder, inciting others to resist.

"Don't listen to Konoha! They just want to exploit us!"

"We fled here and this is how they treat us? Do they have any humanity? Let's resist together!"

"Everyone unite against Konoha!"

"We can't let them bully us!"

Under this instigation, some uninformed refugees joined the commotion, demanding rebellion against Konoha. They began shouting at the shinobi, some even wanting to fight!

The Konoha shinobi were extremely angry. They had taken in these refugees with good intentions, providing shelter and food, yet faced ingratitude and rebellion. If not for concerns about Kagami's plans, they would have suppressed them long ago.

Just as the situation was about to escalate, Kagami snorted coldly! Massive spiritual pressure erupted from his body, instantly crushing all refugees to the ground! Mixed with his conqueror's aura, it caused no real harm but made them feel extremely oppressed, as if a mountain pressed down, making breathing difficult.

"Who gave you the courage to act wildly in my Konoha?" Kagami looked at the prostrate refugees with disdain.

He walked forward slowly, his cold gaze sweeping over them as he shouted angrily: "Ungrateful fools! Konoha took you in, provided shelter and food—that's already more than enough! If you want to stay, obey Konoha's rules and earn food through labor! If you don't want to stay, then leave! Konoha doesn't harbor trash!"

His voice was cold and majestic, exploding like thunder in every refugee's ears, making their hearts tremble. Under his oppressive gaze, no refugee dared meet his eyes. Wherever his gaze fell, heads lowered in fear.

The planted spies were terrified beyond measure. Just one glance from Kagami made them feel as if they'd fallen into an ice cellar, their bodies freezing, souls trembling! They had thought to create trouble using the refugees, but never expected Kagami to be so domineering and powerful, giving them no chance to escalate the situation.

Shikaku also breathed a sigh of relief. With Kagami present, these refugees wouldn't dare resist even if they wanted to.

Then Kagami looked at the troublemaking refugees with icy eyes and said coldly, "Tell me—who sent you here to cause trouble?"
