Two Nights Passed.....
Kenny still hadn't returned to his hometown. Two quiet days slipped by without any incidents surrounding him.
But for Kin, sleep had begun to turn into a curse.
Every night, the same strange dream clawed its way into his mind. In that dream stood the man—the cult member who, in their past life, had driven a blade into the backs of Kin and Vixen. His face was twisted, his voice a hiss that echoed in the dark.
"I will kill you both again."
At first, Kin had ignored it, dismissing the dream as nothing but the residue of old fears. But the nightmare came again. And again. Until it became a nightly torment.
Kin's sleep grew restless. His heart was heavy. Shadows seemed to follow him even in the waking world.
One night, shaken by the dream, Kin sat up in bed with his breath unsteady. His first instinct was to check on Zavrion. Quietly, he walked to the boy's room. Zavrion lay curled beneath his blanket, breathing softly in sleep. Kin's tense chest eased, if only a little.
But as he turned toward Kenny's room, intending to check on him too, he froze.
There were voices.
Low, muffled voices—right outside Kenny's door.
Kin's blood ran cold. His mind flashed back to Shen Seizan, to the accident, to that dreadful night when everything had fallen apart. His hand trembled as he reached for Kenny's door.
The moment his knuckles tapped against the wood, the voices fell silent.
The room grew unnaturally quiet.
Kin's heart thudded. Fear curled in his stomach. He knocked again, forcing courage into his shaky breath. "Kenny?"
This time the door creaked open. Kenny stood there, half-asleep, rubbing his eyes. His hair was messy, his voice groggy.
"What is it, Brother Kin? What happened?"
Kin swallowed hard. "From your room… I heard voices. Were you talking to someone? Maybe on the phone?"
Kenny frowned, blinking in confusion. "No… I was asleep." His gaze flicked to the clock on the wall. The hands pointed past two in the morning. He sighed, stifling a yawn. "Brother Kin, you should sleep too. It's late."
Kin forced a small smile, hiding the unease twisting inside him. "Alright. You go back to sleep."
Kenny nodded, shutting the door gently before crawling back into bed.
The corridor fell silent again. Too silent.
Kin stood there for a moment, his heart still racing, before finally turning away.
But the echo of those unseen voices clung to him, whispering in the corners of his mind.
