Chapter 56 - The Unseen Presence

Before Kin could fully grasp what was happening, that shadowy figure began trying—again and again—to force its way into his body.

The talisman he wore was the only thing keeping it from succeeding. It kept slipping inside for a moment, only to be pushed back out, over and over.

The repeated struggle made Kin's body feel unbearably uneasy, as if his very skin was crawling.

Feeling drained, he stumbled back to his room, washed up, and lay down on the bed. But he was not alone.

Behind him, the same shadow loomed.

It leaned closer… reaching out, as if to touch him in ways that made his blood run cold.

Kin's instincts flared—he understood the danger instantly.

In a desperate move, he released his Omega pheromones, calling out to the animal spirits bound to him.

The air shifted. A rush of unseen power filled the room.

The black figure froze—then dissolved into nothingness, as though the very air had swallowed it.

Kin's body finally gave in to exhaustion. His breathing slowed, and he drifted into a deep, heavy sleep.

Meanwhile, Vixen scoured the jungle for Shen, his voice echoing into the darkness. But no matter how far he went—how many villagers he brought along—there was no sign of him.

Hours passed. The forest grew more sinister, shadows lengthening under the pale light of the moon. Still, Shen was nowhere to be found.

By the time Vixen returned home, it was already deep into the night.

He stepped into Kin's room—only to freeze.

Right there, in front of Kin's sleeping body, floated a tall, writhing, shadowy figure. Its mouth split open unnaturally wide, a long, black tongue reaching toward Kin, as though trying to devour him whole.

"Kin!" Vixen's voice tore through the silence.

The figure vanished instantly, like smoke ripped apart by a violent wind.

Kin's eyes flew open, his breath quick and ragged. "Did you find Shen?" he asked, still half-dreaming.

Vixen didn't answer. He didn't need to—Kin could read the truth in his face.

Shen was still missing.

And something far worse had found its way into their home.
