Life after marriage felt sweeter than Kin had ever imagined.
Everywhere he went, Vixen's gaze followed him—warm, steady, and full of unspoken promises. And Kin? He couldn't stop getting lost in those eyes, as if they were the only world worth living in.
Shen, of course, had his own way of interrupting these tender moments. Leaning lazily against the doorframe, he smirked and asked,
"So… when are you two planning to have a baby?"
Kin's cheeks turned crimson instantly, and Vixen's ears reddened as well. The teasing laughter in Shen's eyes only made it worse.
Days passed in this happy rhythm until one afternoon, Shen admitted something that shifted the mood.
"It's been over a month since I last went to the police station… They've sent emails and even an official notice. I think it's time I go back to work."
Before Shen could finish, Kin cut in, "You still haven't fully recovered! How are you planning to work in this condition?"
Vixen nodded in agreement, his arms folded.
But Shen was persistent. After a long conversation, filled with reassurances and promises, he finally managed to convince them—on one condition.
Kin sighed and said, "Fine… but you're not leaving until the day after tomorrow. Tomorrow, you're spending with us."
That night, lying in the soft glow of their room's lamp, Kin rested against Vixen's chest.
"Before you head to the military camp tomorrow," Kin murmured, "can you take me to the Buddhist monastery?"
Vixen tilted his head. "Of course. But… why?"
Kin's voice softened. "Shen is going back to work, and after what happened these past few weeks… I thought we could get a protective talisman from the monk. Something that would keep him safe. We won't be around to protect him anymore."
Vixen's eyes softened at Kin's thoughtfulness. "You're incredible, you know that?"
Kin smiled shyly. "You're even better, love."
Vixen kissed his forehead, his voice low and sincere. "I'm the lucky one. Having you makes me truly happy."
Their lips met, slow and tender, before they finally drifted off to sleep in each other's arms.
