Chapter 82 - Chapter 72: Still on Vacation, Somehow

Part 1

After a long, chaotic night, everyone finally got a good night's sleep.

Han Yue woke up around 2 PM, stretched her arms, and slipped into her space. She went about her usual chores: harvesting vegetables and fruits, replanting seeds using her spiritual power, then tossing fodder, fruits, and vegetables into each breeding pen and the mountain areas. As usual, she grabbed fifty chickens, ducks, and rabbits, and tossed them into the sand and mountain areas for the wild animals to feed on.

"La la la~ so busy today," she hummed.

After that, she headed to her small ancient house and took a long bath. Once she finished, she fed her little animal babies, left more fruits and cat food, and then got dressed in her standard black mission outfit.

Next stop: check on the woman and boy from yesterday. She realized she still hadn't asked for their names. Of course, she knew already from her past life, but that would be suspicious if she just blurted them out.

So she packed some congee and dim sum into a bag and knocked on their hotel room door.

Knock knock.

A moment later, the door opened. The little boy peeked out and greeted her brightly, "Sister, good morning!"

Han Yue patted his head. "Is your mom awake? Let's talk."

He nodded and let her in.

The woman was sitting on the bed and smiled warmly. "Come, sit."

After settling down, Han Yue handed over the food. "I forgot to ask your names yesterday. It was a bit chaotic."

She began, "I'm Han Yue, from City J. I live and work at a private base near the military zone."

The woman then introduced herself as Chen Ruxue, and her son as Xiao Bao. She explained that they were originally from City H. Ruxue used to work in Traditional Chinese Medicine, but after refusing the advances of someone powerful at her new hospital, she was dismissed and blacklisted.

They started eating while chatting casually. Ruxue expressed her gratitude for the clothes and supplies Han Yue had provided.

Han Yue waved it off. "It's nothing. We'll be coworkers when we get to the base anyway."

She went on to share details about her base's facilities to reassure her: "Admin Hall, breeding grounds, hospital, warehouses, dorms, farming area, and more."

After some time, Han Yue stood up. "We'll leave at 6 PM. Rest or prepare anything you need before then."

As she stepped out of the room, she was met with three pitiful-looking grown men standing like abandoned puppies. It was Shadow 8, Guard Lei, and Tian.

She sighed. "Come on."

Back in her room, she asked, "What do you guys want to eat?"

They immediately fired off random combos: "Lasagna! Croissants! Wendy's Baconator! Dubai chocolate! Milk tea! Iced coffee! Subway sandwich!"

Han Yue stared at them blankly. Such weird combinations.

Still, she conjured everything they asked and took an iced coffee for herself, sipping while watching the three dogs feast.

Shadow 8 shoved a foot-long Subway into his mouth.Lei took a Baconator and sandwiched it between two croissants.Tian stacked lasagna between two Subway sandwiches and chomped down.

Han Yue rubbed her chin thoughtfully. Wow… they're really good at chaotic food combinations.

She casually added, "We're leaving at 6 PM, alright? We can take a detour and check out some villages if you want. We're on vacation, after all."

Shadow 8 perked up, "Yes! Let's visit some villages and see if there's anything fun!"

Lei and Tian nodded in agreement.

After eating, everyone returned to their rooms to rest and pack up.

Han Yue laid on her bed, scrolling through her phone. Something interesting caught her eye—an announcement from the Forecast Bureau and Meteorology Department: the extreme heatwave would likely pass in about two weeks. The notice went into detail about the upcoming rainstorm season.

Another pinned government alert caught her attention:

⚠️ WARNING: All citizens in coastal and low-lying areas must evacuate to higher ground or report to emergency shelters.❗ "We will not force anyone to evacuate," the announcement stated, "but police and military personnel will pull out of these areas within 10 days."

Han Yue nodded approvingly. Good… no more unnecessary sacrifices.

She recalled how, in her past life, stubborn citizens caused the deaths of countless rescue teams, soldiers, and firefighters—some were pushed into floodwaters, stabbed for supplies, or left to drown. She didn't want that to happen again.

She messaged Uncle Long:

Uncle Long, just a reminder. In my past life, many soldiers and rescue teams died trying to save people during the flood and hurricane. Some were stabbed, drowned, or pushed off boats. Many were used as shields by those they tried to save. Please… don't let our soldiers die for the selfish and stubborn again.

Satisfied, she put her phone down.

Well, I'm sure Uncle already remembers… but it never hurts to remind him.

As the clock struck 6 PM, everyone was packed and ready.

Time for another adventure.

…Well, not straight home exactly.

But definitely an adventure.

Part 2

After leaving City H, Guard Lei drove them through the winding roads like they were on a road trip. Shadow 8 was in charge of the GPS, eyes glued to the map.

"Let's head to this village," he said, pointing. "It's about three hours away, up a mountain near that old highway we crossed before. Feels like it might be fun."

As they cruised uphill toward the mountain village, Han Yue casually took out snacks from her bag: jerky, chips, cookies, and a water bottle for each of them. She even gave little Xiao Bao a lollipop.

While they were enjoying their peaceful "vacation" drive, Han Yue spread her spiritual powers along the road ahead... and her eyes narrowed.

Spike strips—again?

She took a sip of water, leaned back in her seat, and said calmly, "Spike strips... around seven minutes ahead."

Lei immediately pulled the vehicle to the side of a burnt tree.

Shadow 8 raised a brow. "Hehehe, this feels oddly familiar."

Guard Lei tapped the wheel. "Maybe this is the hideout of the same people who ambushed us last time."

Han Yue nodded. "Then there are still rats left behind. Let's go play."

She turned to Tian. "You'll collect the spike strips later when we get closer."

They continued forward. When they neared the area, Tian hopped down and carefully removed the spike strips from the mountain path, tossing them into the trunk before rejoining the team.

As the armored off-road vehicle crawled uphill, Han Yue extended her senses again. She found something odd—there was indeed a village here. But in one large house, she sensed many people... tied up like prisoners. Armed patrols moved throughout the area.

She immediately reported the situation.

Everyone tensed.

Ruxue instinctively grabbed Xiao Bao's hand, both visibly nervous. But Tian smiled and said gently, "Don't worry. We do this kind of thing all the time. Plus, this car is armored—bulletproof and grenade-proof. You're safe here."

Ruxue slowly nodded, calming down.

Han Yue turned to them. "You two stay in the car. No matter what happens, don't open the doors. Got it?"

They nodded firmly.

She issued commands. "Shadow 8, Guard Lei—you take the east side. Tian and I will go from the west. Let's move."

Everyone got out of the vehicle and started equipping themselves—tactical vests, comms, night-vision goggles, and firearms.

Han Yue checked her watch. "We're about 10 minutes out. Leave the car here."

The vehicle was parked with a clear view of the distant village, its dim fires flickering, smoke curling into the late-afternoon sky.

Han Yue and Tian moved west, while Shadow 8 and Lei circled east.

Moving quietly from house to house, Han Yue pointed out targets with her power, and Tian would sneak inside, subdue the enemies, and duct-tape their mouths and hands before knocking them out cold. He worked quickly and efficiently.

While he handled one house, Han Yue took a second to text Assistant Chen:

"Currently in the mountain terrain outside City H. Found armed thugs in a village and a group of civilians held prisoner. Requesting City H Military Base to come take over. Sending location now."

She pinned their GPS coordinates and hit send.

Assistant Chen responded almost instantly:

"Understood."

He immediately reported to Secretary Su.

"I'll dispatch a team right away," Su replied.

Han Yue nodded to herself. Hopefully they move fast—I don't want to wait three hours.

Back in the field, she pointed toward the next house.

One after another, the enemies were subdued. Han Yue even began collecting weapons into a sack—rifles, pistols, knives, and other miscellaneous items.

Meanwhile, Shadow 8 and Lei were doing their own sweep. They kicked down doors, knocked out anyone inside, and secured them. Lei gathered all the weapons, while Shadow 8 seemed to be having the time of his life.

After a few more rounds, the two groups regrouped outside the largest building—the Village Hall, where Han Yue had sensed the prisoners being kept underground.

Everyone crouched outside, going over the status report.

Shadow 8 grinned. "We cleared the east side. I beat up over twenty guys."

Tian nodded. "Same here. We've taken out over fifteen from our side."

Han Yue looked toward the Village Hall.

"This is the last spot," she said. "There are more than ten armed guards inside. The prisoners are tied up in the underground warehouse. There's also a fat guy sleeping in the back office. He's probably the leader."

Everyone got into position.

With a loud BOOM, Shadow 8 kicked the door open.

The guards inside were stunned. Before they could even raise their weapons, Han Yue lifted a single finger—and all their guns froze into solid chunks of ice.

Tian, Lei, and Shadow 8 charged in, fists flying.

Han Yue, meanwhile, walked calmly through the chaos and into the back room.

There he was—the fat thug leader, snoring.

Even with all the noise outside?

She chuckled, pulled out a marker, and drew a turtle on his face. Then she took a photo for memory's sake.

Finally, she gave him a hard kick.

Thud! He hit the floor with a groan.

"WHO—?!" he roared, grabbing a hidden gun and firing at her.

The bullet flew—and froze midair.

Ding. It dropped harmlessly onto the floor.

Han Yue sighed and kicked him again, launching him out of the room and into the main hall like a bowling ball.

He landed groaning, only to see all his men unconscious and bloody.

"W-Wait—!"

POW! Shadow 8 punched him straight in the face.

Han Yue emerged calmly and said, "Tie him up. We're handing him over to the military."

"Roger that!" Shadow 8 happily duct-taped the man to a podium with an entire roll.

Han Yue returned to the back room and used her spiritual sense to sweep the office. She found gold, bullets, rations, and logbooks—client records.

Interesting.

More deals with the research lab? Selling people?

She narrowed her eyes. Again, them.

"Tian, Lei," she called, "go check the basement. Get the prisoners out."

They nodded and headed underground.

The prisoners were soon brought up—dirty, bruised, some with tears in their eyes. Some looked relieved, others scared or numb.

An old man stepped forward. "Thank you, benefactor. I am the village chief. You saved us."

He bowed deeply.

Han Yue asked, "How long were you imprisoned?"

"Ten days," he answered. "They said they'd sell us soon…"

Han Yue turned to Tian and Lei. "Use the supplies stored here. Make them food. They need warm porridge and rest."

Tian started a fire and began cooking. Lei went around and gently cut the ropes off each prisoner.

The villagers sat quietly on the floor, some crying softly, others staring blankly—too stunned to speak.

Han Yue stood at the center and announced, "The military will be here soon."
