Chapter 15 - Small Business

Liangshe Night Banquet was located on the ground floor.

The exterior of the building looked both elegant and grand. At the entrance, a young woman in a China Merchants Bank uniform paced back and forth, occasionally glancing at the watch on her wrist.

Suddenly, she looked up and saw Cai Kun approaching. Her eyes lit up instantly, and she stepped forward with a professional smile.

"Hello, are you Mr. Cai?"

"I am," Cai Kun replied with a slight nod.

"Nice to meet you, Mr. Cai. I'm Zhang Yan, client manager at China Merchants Bank. Manager Lin instructed me personally to wait for you at the door."

Standing beside Cai Kun, Annie's eyes flickered with surprise.

She only knew that Cai Kun had some business meeting tonight. She hadn't expected it to be with the bank manager.

A bank manager was someone with real status and power—not someone an ordinary person could just call up.

Yet here they were… setting up a private banquet, waiting respectfully for Cai Kun.

Just who was he?

Cai Kun gave Zhang Yan a casual glance.

She was around 165 cm tall—not as tall as Annie—but had a well-proportioned figure. Her long hair was tied up, revealing a full forehead. Her round little face looked delicate, with black-and-white eyes that curved into a natural smile even without expression.

Fair skin added to her youthful charm, giving her an aura that was pure and lively.

The only flaw was her rather bland uniform—but the fact that Manager Lin had assigned her to personally greet Cai Kun spoke volumes about the importance of this meeting.

"Manager Lin is already inside. If you're ready, I'll show you in?"

Cai Kun nodded, holding Annie's hand as they entered.

Just past the doors, two young women in elegant qipaos gave a slight bow.

"Welcome to Liangshe Night Banquet. We wish you a pleasant dining experience."

As the pair walked in, the doors behind them slowly shut.

Zhang Yan walked beside them and explained, "Liangshe Night Banquet only hosts one table each evening—twelve guests share an exclusive 1,000-square-meter space. Tonight, Manager Lin booked the whole place just to meet with you, Mr. Cai."

Annie's eyes widened in disbelief.

A thousand square meters for just twelve people? For one dinner?

That was insane.

But Cai Kun showed no reaction, as if this was perfectly normal.

He had already looked up the place beforehand—Liangshe was a well-known immersive experience restaurant in Shanghai.

The entire restaurant was designed based on one of China's Ten Famous Paintings—The Night Revels of Han Xizai—to recreate the grandeur of the Tang Dynasty.

The set menu featured eighteen fixed dishes, each paired with synchronized visuals, scents, music, lighting, and emotional ambiance.

Passing through the main entrance, colorful lights lit up the grand central stage that resembled an ancient pavilion.

Traditional charm filled the air.

A graceful woman in a bright red hanfu played the pipa on stage, while a massive backdrop projection created a fully immersive atmosphere.

As they reached the main hall, a long banquet table for twelve was already occupied by a middle-aged man in a black suit.

"Manager Lin, Mr. Cai has arrived," Zhang Yan announced.

The middle-aged man stood up with a friendly smile and reached out with both hands.

"Mr. Cai, nice to meet you. I'm Lin Yusheng."

"Hello, Manager Lin," Cai Kun said as he shook his hand. "Sorry to keep you waiting."

Though he said the words, Cai Kun's tone was flat, showing not a trace of guilt.

A bank manager might be untouchable for ordinary people—but to Cai Kun, it was nothing.

Forget the $500 million in his account. Just his father alone, Cai Xu, had a net worth of over 300 billion yuan.

Even the top executives at bank headquarters would treat him with caution—let alone a mere regional branch manager in Jiangcheng.

"Not at all. It's the evening rush hour—delays are inevitable," Lin Yusheng smiled politely. "And I know the invitation was a bit last minute. I hope you won't mind."

After a few pleasantries, Lin glanced at Annie and warmly greeted her as well.

Clearly, anyone who could accompany Cai Kun to such an event must be important.

Annie, upon learning Lin Yusheng's identity, looked visibly nervous and stiff.

"Please, have a seat," Lin gestured with full courtesy.

Cai Kun pulled out a chair and sat across from Lin, while Annie followed his lead and quietly took her seat beside him.

As soon as they sat down, several servers in flowing silk gowns entered gracefully with trays of food.

Each dish was beautifully plated, accompanied by shifting lights and fog effects. The table soon looked like something out of a fairy tale.

Even before tasting the food, the sheer presentation already stunned Annie.

She could barely resist the urge to take photos and show off to her coworkers back at the airline.

If they saw this… they'd be sick with envy.

But with Lin Yusheng and Zhang Yan sitting at the same table, she forced herself to remain composed.

"I'm getting a bit old and don't really understand you young people's tastes, so I let Zhang Yan choose the restaurant. I hope it suits your preferences, Mr. Cai," Lin said with a chuckle.

"Thank you, Manager Lin," Cai Kun replied calmly.

He wasn't surprised—his personal data had surely been reviewed in detail by the bank long before this dinner.

"You're truly impressive, Mr. Cai," Lin added with admiration. "To have access to such wealth at your age is something I can only dream of."

"It's nothing. Just some pocket money from my family," Cai Kun smiled.

"Oh?" Lin's eyes lit up. "May I ask what business your family is in?"

"Just some small business. A not-so-famous micro enterprise."

Cai Kun said it lightly.

In truth, even though his father's conglomerate was an industrial behemoth, it wasn't publicly listed. Calling it a "micro enterprise" wasn't technically incorrect.

Lin instantly understood.

If Cai Kun's family could casually transfer $500 million into a single account, then the scale of that 'small' business was beyond imagination.

If he could build a relationship and have that business bank through his branch—it could skyrocket his career.

No wonder he, usually so composed, had let curiosity get the better of him.

With clients at this level, privacy was everything.

That question about his family? That was already stepping out of line.

He quickly apologized.

"My apologies, Mr. Cai. That was out of line."

"No worries," Cai Kun waved it off.

"You're not just wealthy, but humble as well," Lin said admiringly. "Your account holds a full $500 million USD. I've never seen a micro enterprise capable of something like that."

At that moment, Annie—who had been quietly eating—almost choked.

Her eyes widened like saucers.

How much?

Five hundred million USD?!

She nearly fainted.

She had thought Cai Kun came from a well-off family… maybe drove flashy cars because he liked to show off.

But now she realized—

She wasn't dating a rich young man.

She was sitting next to a damn rocket to the top.
