Chapter 38: I Have Hidden the Power on Myself. Thor, If You Want Power, Go Find It!

Du Wa released his hand, losing interest in the Hammer. He turned to watch the fierce battle between the Abomination Xenomorph and the Deviant Leader.

"This thing… it's the Deviant that absorbed Juggernaut. Just as I predicted, it's become incredibly strong, but not yet to an unmanageable level, like Sub-Skyfather," Du Wa watched intently.

Even though the Abomination Xenomorph possessed the Hulk's genes, making it much stronger than the Abomination with a much higher upper limit for growth, it was ultimately not the Hulk himself.

As the battle progressed, the Abomination Xenomorph was consistently unable to gain the upper hand and found itself getting hit more and more often.

The Deviant Leader's intelligence was very high. After adapting to the Abomination Xenomorph's strength, it began to launch targeted counterattacks. It immediately grew a size larger and, combined with the unstoppable ability from Juggernaut, could completely withstand the Abomination Xenomorph's attacks.

Its only weakness was that it couldn't match the Abomination Xenomorph in strength and couldn't take it down quickly. However, given enough time, it would almost certainly be the victor.

"If one isn't enough, then we'll swarm it." At Du Wa's command, several very strong Xenomorphs closed in from all directions, pouncing on the Deviant Leader.

What made the Deviant Leader shocked and enraged, even forcing it to divert its attention, was precisely the dozen or so Deviant Xenomorphs besieging it!

From these Xenomorphs, whose forms were quite similar to its own, it keenly sensed the aura of its own kind.

The Leader let out an angry hiss. Clearly, with its intelligence, it had already guessed what was going on. It immediately turned its head, staring at Du Wa with its glowing red eyes.

"That's right, I did it. The awakening of your kindred was my handiwork, and their continuous capture is also my doing," Du Wa said with a calm expression, standing beside Thor.

According to the normal timeline, these creatures would have only awoken after the Celestial in the Earth's core began to emerge, triggering a global earthquake that would shatter the ice of the Alaskan lake.

But because of Du Wa's actions, these Deviants had appeared now.

Du Wa had no intention of reconciling with these Deviants who fed on humanity. Capturing them alive was best; if not, killing them was the true optimal solution.

The Deviant Leader was incandescent with rage, tilting its head back and letting out a piercing shriek.

"Did you think I didn't know you had your kindred positioned all around? They've met their own enemies. Who wins and who loses is still up in the air," Du Wa said.

The Leader abandoned the Abomination Xenomorph and Thor, intending to rush over and kill Du Wa, but it was tightly surrounded by the Abomination Xenomorph and the Deviant Xenomorphs.

Whenever the Deviant Leader tried to do anything, the dozen or so extremely powerful Xenomorphs would swarm it, launching a relentless barrage of attacks. The frequency of their assault was astonishing, an impenetrable storm, yet they were unable to break through its defense for a long time.

A Messenger Xenomorph hid in the distance, spitting acidic blood. It splattered onto the Deviant Leader, making a sizzling sound, but because of Juggernaut's ability, it failed to truly corrode much of its flesh and blood.

Beneath the heavy black clouds, lightning flashed and thunder rumbled.

The moment the numerous Deviants appeared, they were assaulted by the Xenomorphs. The two types of creatures engaged in a fierce slaughter in the wilderness.

Superb speed, astonishing combat instincts, braving the howling winds, they appeared and disappeared like ghosts in the dim light. They used the uncomplicated terrain to fight, sometimes in one-on-one duels, other times taking the opportunity to attack other enemies when knocked back.

The shifting of small-unit tactics reached its peak from the very beginning in this situation.

Only the occasional sound of tearing flesh and pained hisses revealed how cruel this battle truly was.

In terms of war alone, both creatures were extremely outstanding. The difference was that the Xenomorphs were clearly superior weapons of war. Their entire bodies were weapons made for slaughter, a fusion of ultimate violence and beauty.

The Deviants, on the other hand, were far inferior. They lacked hard exoskeleton armor, inner jaws, and bladed tails, leaning more towards energy siphoning and absorption. But against the "armored" Xenomorphs, they sometimes found themselves helpless.

They had to desperately break through the Xenomorphs' exoskeletons before they could use their fleshy tendrils for absorption.

Xenomorphs—every single one was a weapon of war born in armor. Every line of their bodies was made for fighting to the death. Absolute obedience, absolute coordination, never retreating, never feeling fear.

Occasionally, a flash of lightning would tear through the darkness, and gazes would be drawn here, witnessing a soul-shaking scene.

The Xenomorphs, some upright, others crawling, were like a well-trained army. Silent as iron, they coldly carried out their commands. Every strike from any given Xenomorph carried a sharp, cold glint, cruelly tearing apart the Deviants they faced.

There were even unlucky Deviants who faced the siege of multiple Xenomorphs at once. Hissing while retreating, they tried to call their companions for help, but by the time their companions broke away from their own fights to rush over, they had already been pounced on by several Xenomorphs. After a series of flesh-rending sounds, their form was reduced to countless pieces.

Regenerate? Their bodies were torn into several pieces precisely to prevent them from doing so.

Of course, facing opponents on the level of the Deviants, it was impossible for the Xenomorphs not to suffer casualties, especially the weakest Blood Xenomorphs. But even in death, they would use their last ounce of strength to tear open their own bodies, letting their blood splash out to achieve maximum damage.

Deviants continuously tried to approach Du Wa's position, but whenever they made a move, they were immediately met with the Xenomorphs' precise interception.

With Du Wa managing the psychic link, there were naturally no problems with the defensive line's allocation. Every single Xenomorph was an "eye" that Du Wa could control.

This silent and cold mode of combat deeply shocked everyone who witnessed it.

As far as the eye could see, only the highly sci-fi-esque Xenomorphs were deeply imprinted into their minds.

"Midgardian, are these the warriors you've recruited? What race is this?" Even Thor was greatly drawn to these efficient and cold creatures.

To be fair, besides the Messengers, the other types of Xenomorphs could all walk upright on two legs. To the uninitiated, they might mistake these Xenomorphs for a bizarrely-shaped intelligent race.

In reality, the Xenomorphs did possess extremely high intelligence. They just didn't climb the technology tree, instead following the path of genetic evolution.

This was the first time Thor had ever seen life forms like the Xenomorphs.

"Xenomorphs. My Xenomorphs are trying their best to get rid of these rude Deviants, but I'd rather capture them alive," Du Wa said.

It was unclear whether it was the close contact with war that ignited the desire for conquest and destruction in Thor's bones, but his voice grew much louder: "There is no need for captives! If they are confirmed as enemies, then utterly crush them on the battlefield!"

After speaking, he stared again at the most eye-catching Abomination Xenomorph. A violence machine like that was perfectly suited to his aesthetic.

"That big one is strong. In my campaigns across the various worlds, I've encountered many who were all show and no substance. Clearly, he is not one of them. You are very fortunate to have such a warrior follow you. Have you earned the allegiance of this race?"

"Of course. But shouldn't you be picking up your Hammer now, Thor?"

"Whenever I wish, I can."

Thor couldn't wait to fight a great battle, to show these Midgardians the strength of a god, especially in front of weapons like the Xenomorphs, which were purely born for battle.

Smack!

Thor tried to lift the Hammer, but it didn't budge an inch.

"How can this be?!" Thor looked as if he'd been struck by lightning, his face filled with disbelief. He tried again and again with all his might, finally succumbing to despair with a bitter smile.

"Is this my punishment, Father?"

The heavy rain that had been brewing for so long fell in an instant, growing heavier and heavier until it became a downpour, as if in response to Thor.

Thor realized that Odin hadn't been joking. He truly could only be a mortal now, no longer possessing the great divine power to soar through the heavens and traverse the earth.

Without power, what could he use to deal with these Deviants before him?

"Don't worry about it." Du Wa patted Thor's shoulder. "It's just because you're not strong enough. However, I can give you what you want. Young Thor, do you want power?"
